Walmart The Thing (2011) (Blu-ray Steelbook) (Walmart Exclusive) [USA]
MikeH5856 replied to ShadowWarrior's topic in Walmart
🚩🚩Price drop on Miami Vice and The Thing (2011)🚩🚩 Now $19.96 each. I had to chat with customer service but was able to get a price adjustment on both, since I already paid through PayPal. -

I'm guessing that within days of this being delivered, we'll finally hear news on the 88 Films edition... 🤣
-
YUP. I'm buying this steel specifically to house the eventual 4K release that's no doubt imminent now. 🤣
-
Totally understandable! I hope you got some good stuff in the sale!

@Veum FYI - just a little something you may be interested in.

I just ordered the German steel, but I actually like MAYDAY better as a title. Fun fact - they just announced the sequel with Mike Colter called... wait for it... SHIP. 🤣 -
MANTA LAB Exclusive Masterlist (including Manta CP & Manta Global)
MikeH5856 replied to extantsrevenge's topic in Manta Lab
If The Flash movie ends up being as good as the trailer, the Manta steel is going to be a must-have for me. I’m excited to see what they come up with! -
Wow! This actually looks pretty damn cool. I hear it’s been getting some great responses in test screenings. I’m very curious to see if/how it may tie into Gunn’s reboot, or if there’s no actual impact on the DCU to come.

Umbrella is putting out a pretty slick looking 4K release of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story in April! They've even got a couple different collector's editions - one that comes with a Hawaiian t-shirt and another without. https://shop.umbrellaent.com.au/search?type=product&options[prefix]=last&q=weird

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)
MikeH5856 replied to Masterblaster's topic in English
Thanks, Basil. Is this related to why Zavvi is no longer shipping to Australia, as well (if you can speculate)? I thought these decisions had more to do with cost-cutting measures, as it sounds like The Hut Group is in some financial troubles... https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/17/thg-retailer-profit-warning Of course, between stocks falling and Royal Mail issues, I suspect the answer lies somewhere around -
Our replies have the distinct odor of canned responses. 🤣

Latest response from Zavvi...nothing much new to report, but just to keep you guys in the loop: Sent by: Zavvi UK, 07 February 2023, 20:19 Hello Michael, Thank you for getting in touch about your pre-order with us. I am sorry for the inconvience this may have caused you. Please be advised that this will be rasied with the Customer Support Team. Once we receive feedback we will have this information provided to you and have this resolved for you. If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help. So, basically, just more wait and see. 😞

I've emailed them back letting them know the previous response doesn't answer my question at all. If I get a more sensible reply that actually answers the question I was asking, I'll let y'all know ASAP! Sure would be nice if studious/retailers Stateside would get on the ball and do their own collector's editions, but I don't foresee that happening.

I wish I knew! I sent a message asking that very same question. Their reply was "You are able to add them to a Wishlist and if they come back in stock we will send you a confirmation email." Not exactly helpful!

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)

Screenshot from the subreddit I mentioned above. TEXT: Some changes were made over the last few days completely removing movie sections from many of the site settings but seems today they finally finished the transition and not only blocked the movie sections from most site settings but also blocked all Zavvi exclusive and UK only steels from shipping to any address outside of the UK. Once you reach checkout on the UK site setting, where most of the steelbooks are, you are only allowed to enter UK addresses to continue the process. On the US site setting you can still see a very small handful of steelbooks that were available here in the US anyway that also aren't Zavvi exclusive. We're not sure what the future plans are but for now it seems many of these steelbook will now no longer be available to collectors outside of the UK, similar to the way HMV runs. I'll be sure to update this post with any new information. -

Not sure about *everything* but it looks like UK exclusive titles and steels are on the outs for us. I just put Knock At The Cabin in my basket to test it, since that's getting a US release, but it's a no-go on that order too. Same for Back to the Future. -

Heads-up to US peeps who've been ordering Zavvi/UK exclusives through their UK site -- we've been cut off at the knees! I saw they had a copy of the Film Vault edition of Blade Runner back in stock, tried to order it, and was taken to a UK-locked ordering page. No more US shipments allowed! I just found it being discussed on the r/steelbooks site on Reddit, too. So, fair warning, y'all. Hopefully preorders will still be honored, but no word on that front yet, as far as I can tell.
