Yeah, I know... I was "waiting" for that Super Deluxe Premium Limited Editions Complete Series release... But just couldn't stop my self from buying these... Also, couldn't take my chances... :$xD

Of course I will buy that Complete Set when comes out... Hopefully Beautiful... :x

By the way, I just saw that DM Mugen Train LE now has official images, and I'm a little dissapointed it doesn't come with no art cards or anything. I feel bad as I almost got the Japanese edition, wich is amazing with all kinds of stuff, but didn't had the money at the time and a couple weeks later this one came out and jumped on it. I mean, the art on the digipack looks beautiful and I'm happy it will match perfectly with the S1pt1&2 boxsets, but no cards?? Come on Aniplex!!... :(:(

    816546025946_anime-demon-slayer-kimetsu-

Yeah it’s a shame the Japanese box set wasn’t replicated in the west, Amazon Japan still has stock but it’s difficult to tell which version you’re looking at so it’s a risky purchase. Same with violet evergarden the movie.

    Good Evening @LeGonze;

First, I wanted to mention that I'm of course, extremely pleased to see that the Part 1 of AoT's final season is finally making its way to Blu.

As I've mentioned previous, I'm personally holding out for what I consider, the inevitable Deluxe edition that will contain the entire series.

Of course, there's always the chance it won't happen but it's like printing free money at this point for that show, so I doubt they'll pass on the consideration.

The worrisome part, is that Funi owns both the USA and the UK licences for it, so if they do not, an English friendly version could be difficult to locate.

The one shine of light I grasp at though, is they have not continued making the CEs for each season, once they sold out, they're gone, so that could also point at an inevitable all singing all dancing edition to come.

Got my toes, fingers and eyes crossed for it at least. 😉

Second, I would sincerely recommend staying as far away of that rendition of "Berserk" as humanly possible.

That's the 2016/17 version, created by Liden Films in coordination with GEMBA.

Sadly they tried to combine 2D art with 3D CG art and the two mix like oil and water.

The script follows the details of the Manga, it had to, they had Kintaro Muira (original author, R.I.P.) as overseer but the man had no say in visual production.

    Is it watchable?

Yes, barely but anyone that has a strong appreciation for the Berserk franchise treats it like a diseased rat that wants to eat your eyeballs.

If you have interest in the Berserk franchise, and I'd suggest you should, since it is one of the greatest Manga ever written, then track down the either the 1997 series from OLM (Oriental Light & magic) and the film trilogy, "Golden Age Arc" by Studio 4C in 2012.

Both can be found in amaray with the '97 series getting a gorgeous Steel about 2 years ago that may be hard to find but if you do (for a decent price), that's the one to grab.

I too received an email today from Sentai regarding their 'early' Black Friday sale. I had a quick peruse earlier but will scroll through it more dutifully tonight.

Didn't look like too much on offer I don't already have but they usually have surprises in store.

Right Stuf I anticipate will be holding their BF sale beginning next week and they have a LOT of titles I'd love to see go on sale.

Possibly, perhaps even some Aniplex releases?

@Mattrivers95, I'm not too sure if MP will hold a dedicated GB for Sentai but it is possible that if you contact @Masterblaster, the USA HUB, via the "Other Media GBs" he may be able to assist. @LeGonze would no more about that than I would.

I'm in Canada, so I'd be no help to you I'm afraid Sir.

    Cheers my friends.

Thanks for pointing out that’s the newer berserk, I’d assumed it was the 97 one. I can’t believe I passed on that steelbook, I didn’t know what it was at the time so I’ll have to get a second hand one soon.

Nice, I haven’t actually watched Titan yet I think I’m gonna wait for a complete set though. There was a great steelbook release for berserk but It’s out of print now, it turns up on eBay from time to time at silly prices. I was looking at the Sentai sale earlier but they don’t ship internationally, can we use gbs for this retailer?

  4. I feel a bit hasty now in buying the recent Korean steelbook though it doesn’t hurt to have an additional steelbook. I do prefer this version though, not least because there isn’t unnecessary text/logos everywhere like the Ive release. I’m curious about the transfer too, is it a new encode? I like the existing hdr disc but I’m pretty eager to see what it looks like in Dolby vision.

    Good Evening @Mattrivers95; 🙂

Belladonna Of Sadness is part of a trilogy of thematically related films, by Osamu Tezuka but each can certainly be viewed stand-alone.

It's pretty heavy stuff I'd suggest and though I certainly recommend it, it's not best to go in on a blind buy unless you appreciate surprises.

    The other two related films are;

    - A Thousand and One Nights, and

    - Cleopatra

All 3 are recommended for 'adults' so, not exactly something to have your pre-schooler spool up at breakfast time.

Kaiba, I've been unable to get a copy of prior, so I too am looking forward to it.

Although I am well aware of the incredible shows that make up the Card Captor series (since I watched them before sending off to my Girls) I lean more toward the Madoka side of the Magical Girl genre so I have yet to decide whether to pick that lovely CE up. I know it's one of @extantsrevenge fave shows, so he could elaborate more for those with interest.

Code Geass: is considered a "Classic" for good reason, it is an incredible show and to have this assortment in one defining box set is awesome!

I'll take this opportunity to expound on the others I'm considering, if ya don't mind...😉

Blood-C is not the best of the "Blood: Vampire" series but it does have a distinctive charm to it and is the most action packed.

Most of us would of course, prefer to see the Blood+ series get a Blu (and for that matter a decent Blu for the original, Blood: The Last Vampire) but for whatever legal entanglements that prevent that from happening, I'll support the franchise and grab this UE from AtA. It's gonna be BIG, size wise, similar to the "B: The Beginning" set, I've heard, so yeah, not gonna be cheap.

I've owned "Boogiepop Phantom" on dvd for years and almost dropped coin on the simple amaray Blu that RS had on offer. So glad I didn't, as this ed will be incredible!

With a bit of luck, we'll soon see "Boogiepop and Others" (which I own on Blu) in a lovely CE as well!

BP is a continuation from the Manga whereas BaO is an Anime of the Manga.

El-Hazard: I have no experience with but I've heard nothing but "excellent" when it enters conversation.

Seraph Of The End: I have the CEs from Sentai so, I'll need to see what is brought to the fore in order to entice me to buy yet again. Of course, I'm lucky to be in a position whereas if I 'upgrade' I can send my previous eds to my lovely Girls as yet another wonderful gift from Grandpa! heh.

Kakeguri: is available (both S-1 and 2) from both Sentai and RS in amaray right now (for pre-order) but the series is awesome so I may need to get this CE, heh.

Silver Spoon: Is a cute "slice of Life" anime about a lad getting to know how a 'Farm' works. Funny and quaint but not my thing.

My Hime: sounds VERY familiar and need to check my db because I think I have it but, we'll see, (sounds like something I'd buy at least!)

Cheers Buddy (and other Folk) 😉

That’s great , thanks for the descriptions, I think I’ll take a risk with belladonna. Am I right in thinking the code geass set has the four films but not the tv show? If so are the films a sort of reboot?

  6. Thanks, Ive just recently watched that video and I’ve got my eye on a few titles I haven’t heard of like kaiba and belladonna, as well as code geass and cardcaptor which I’ve never got around to watching. I can’t wait to see what they’re putting in the sale, fingers crossed for demon slayer and full metal alchemist.

OK great, and yes it's the Novamedia edition on this thread. When I go in the subtitles in the movie menu, only Korean is listed. So if you can also seean English option, I guess its my player?

I’ve only watched in the mood for love so far and had the same problem, but found the English subs by cycling through the subs during playback using the subtitle button on the remote control. I’m assuming it’s the same for the other titles.

    Good Afternoon @Mattrivers95🙂

The two shows you've mentioned passing interest in, do have some noteworthy aspects to them but I'll take a moment to hi-light the controversial aspects to each.

    Goblin Slayer:

When the 1st few episodes of this show aired, they didn't just kick open the door, they threw a Molotov cocktail at it and laughed gleefully as it burnt off the hinges.

Spoiler, but I don't care because it's integral to the controversy, one of the girls a group member on a D&D style quest, is raped by some evil goblins. Now this ain't no hentai show so no explicit details shown but you know that's what happens easy enough. Of course our anti-hero, the Goblin Slayer deals justice with a sword pretty quick but a lot of folks were upset that such a garish device would be used to cause hype for a show.

There's a few other sprinklings of WTF? throughout but that scene at least is never repeated.

Since the show has "calmed down" some, it has a large fan following and if the D&D/RPG focus is at all appealing, perhaps watching some of S-1 will provide you some food for thought. As @LeGonze dutifully mentioned, if you can Stream some episodes, that would be my suggestion.

I own S-1 but have yet to get/watch the film (Goblin's Crown), so can't comment on it at all. There is an S-2 in the pipe also.

    Darling in the FranXX:

This is actually a very very good show, up until about episode 15. From that point, Trigger went bat-scat loopy and brought aliens into the mix for the mechs to fight and it quickly turned into a hilarious dumpster fire on a grand scale.

It did copy (quite liberally) from NG Evangelion, which peeved a number of folks off but for the first 3 quarters of the show, it's a good watch.

Again, it has a pretty strong fan-base as the NGE nostalgia hype was flowing hard and fast for its story.

Again, if you can Stream a bit to get your own vibe for it, all the better.

    Cheers my friend. 😉

Thanks chaps, so I’ll watch a couple of eps of both before splurging on or avoiding them. Additionally, death parade is getting a re release soon which is something else I haven’t seen. Any thoughts on that?

I did exactly this and yup, not my cup of tea. I had to drop my preorder for Goblin Slayer. Definitely doesn't worth that much ($39.99) for me.

Darlin in Franxx has an unbearable and ridiculous way to interconnect that I just dropped the show.

Thanks, I think I’ll dodge these two then, at least on disc.

    Hi Folks;

    Just wanted to quickly mention, I went a bit nuts at the AoL site last night and since misery (😉) loves company;

    Ordered:

    - Black Lagoon: LE, 41 quid
    - Death Parade: LE, 37 quid
    - Megalobox: S-1, CE, 40 quid
    - Nichijou: LE, 41 quid
    - FMA (orig): CE, Pts 1-2, 80 quid total

    - Skull Man: dvd ( no Blu yet), 18 quid.

Also, two of my Sentai orders from their last big sale just arrived.

Another case where one order got snagged by Canada Customs ($45Cdn on a $254Usd purchase), the other breezed through (~same value).

I'll have pics up soon, just cataloguing them into my db (just a simple but effective Excel chart) at the moment.

(which I cannot emphasize strongly enough for folks to develop! Not just to keep track but also for insurance proof of purchase).

For insurance, also main reason I take group photos of my collection items as they arrive.

    Cheers! 🥰

Yes it seems nge is already shipping out to many people already, I’d just started a rewatch on dvd with the subs too. I’ll definitely be getting nichijou too, that’s another kyoani show I haven’t seen, along with hyouka. I’ve noticed Zavvi have steel books for goblin slayer and darling in franxx, I haven’t seen those either and heard they’re quite controversial so I might watch the first few eps on funimation if they’re on. They don’t seem like safe blind buys.

    Thank you for the tag.

Why did they charge you that early?

They do this sometimes to avoid cancellations but usually just by a week, they’ve never charged this early before so I’m wondering if they’re shipping early maybe.

Yep, I am. It’s much better sized than the shout factory set. I’ve only seen wolf walkers so far but very interested in the first two as well.

Maaan… Remember the Target Sale I tagged you?? There was a ton of those steels… I think it can be done through our General BestBuy GB.

Sorry mate, I’d forgotten about that sale (and thanks for the tag). I’ve just checked and there’s a few left but I’m still a little indifferent to the shout/sc ghibli steels. Plus I’d have to track down all twenty two of them so I think I’m going to be lazy and get the amarays instead, it’s my own fault for not getting them when they first started to trickle out.

A few are harder to find and no longer available. But some showed up again after beind gone already, so I'm not sure if they did more of them. Many are still available. But getting them from the US is torture, almost all arrive with a small dent or some issue. It is a little tragic 😢. The 2 new arrivals are almost fine.

Thanks, I might just call it a night trying to locate ghibli steels and just get the amarays instead, possibly with some custom slips.

  17. Received wizard of oz today and it’s a beauty, the wwa steel is much better than I remember seeing in the general release photos, embossed title and spot gloss on the flowers. Definitely worth the wait, thanks @blu.steel33 and Forrest Gump.

The Universal monster steel books look like what you’d expect from that studio, dull streaky matte.
