2022 Oscar Nomination Predictions

I guess I'm a bit late for predictions, though I've only seen a minimal amount of movies involved in all of this.

Just commenting that yesterday I was able to see The power of the dog and I liked it a lot, although seeing that it has 12 nominations, I don't know if it says much good about it or little good about the rest.

Simply commenting that seeing that Don't look up has a nomination for best film, makes him lose all interest in the ceremony.😔

SAG Awards results:

CODA did very well and Power of the Dog came away empty handed. Will Smith and Ariana Debose look like strong favorites for their categories.

Maybe a CODA best picture win is coming…

Very shocking results at the SAGs

Another data point as we get closer to the Oscars:

Looks like three of the actor awards are more or less locked in (with Kotsur joining Smith and Debose). I’d still expect Campion to win best director and Power of the Dog to take best picture. Dune is likely to dominate the technical/craft categories and Best Actress is completely wide open with no real standout as far as I can tell.

I think there’s a decent chance Smit-McPhee takes Best Supporting over Kotsur

Seemed that way a few weeks ago but Kotsur has won every head to head award and Power of the Dog has underperformed (relatively). Plus Kotsur is fantastic in CODA, he’s older so he likely won’t get another role like this, and the academy loves to create moments and Troy and his interpreter have been great on the award circuit so far. He’s definitely the favorite now.
