So Amazon in both the US and UK show the Seven 4K release happening 1/12.  While that would be awesome, I never believed it.  Digital Bits is now reported the first week of May, which sounds much more likely.

Did you pre-order it? Trying to decide if I should go for it, or wait for a premium release. The disc is going to be rock solid I’m sure, Darius Khondji’s cinematography is so good.

Well they have that “What’s in the box” edition that looks pretty great.  I ordered as soon as it was available on Amazon UK, worried it would sell out.  Then, because I had a bad experience with them overselling and not having my order recently, I ordered one from Grindhouse once they became available there.

Oddly, was selling for around $100 (converted) from Amazon UK, same at Grindhouse (now on hiatus but still shipping pre-orders), but Amazon US is selling it for $150.  Anyway, here it is, pretty cool:

I like this movie enough that I would probably get other premium sets that become available, but this one looks pretty sweet.

right mike depends what you want to do

1.sound from telly to extra speakers/stereo

2.sound from blu ray to extra speakers/stereo

Paul @Basil I have a ONKYO TX-8020 Stereo Receiver that has only the red and white cables which I had hooked up to my previous Sony TV which had a plug in for speakers from the Stereo System (the red and white cables at the end of them is one single cable which I had to add a male connector to plug-in to the side of the older Sony) and it seems this “New” Sony does not provide that specific plug-in on this TV 🤨

Will I need one of these:

actually easy answer mike i would suggest bo below

get an optical lead to go from telly into optical(toslink) into first plug splitter box

get another optical lead from blu ray in optical (toslink) into second plug of splitter box

plug splitter box into the other box optically that will then take the sound down to 2 chs on red and white rca to the stereo

1.

splitter box lead into then next box

https://www.amazon.com/VCELINK-Splitter-Connectors-Receiver-Amplifier/dp/B0932VRZNS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1WINKNQA56X00&keywords=twin+optical+splitter&qid=1704555406&sprefix=twin+optical+splitter%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-45124EKaNrcS._AC_SL1500_.jpg

2. then this box plug in the optical splitter box into to it

you will power this box with provided usb lead and should be a usb on the telly to power it failing that you may need a usb plug power

the provided optical lead can got into first of the splitter sockets the second splitter socket you will need a second optical lead to the blu ray player

to fetch back sound from the bluray to the stereo i will put a lead up down below for that

the red and white will plug to the stereo taking it down to 2ch as you want

https://www.amazon.com/PROZOR-Digital-Converter-Optical-Toslink/dp/B00KNNSKV0/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2UXXW0C0A9EY8&keywords=optical+to+rca&qid=1704555661&sprefix=optical+to+rca%2Caps%2C193&sr=8-3

that should do it all

im presuming you have rca leads to go into stereo???

https://www.amazon.com/GearIT-Shielded-Braided-Amplifiers-Speakers/dp/B09TNPVX1Z/ref=sr_1_10?crid=30DBNH2ZPO096&keywords=rca%2Bleads&qid=1704556591&sprefix=rca%2Bleads%2Caps%2C252&sr=8-10&th=1

like below

and finally in the event you want seperate power supply for usb for box its below with few extra sockets surge protected

This is exciting.  Big decision:  what’s the first movie you watch on the new television to see how great it looks?

Not sure, but will have to get the components Paul suggested in the post up above 1st from Amazon before any movies (cause I do not own any of these components!)😒

EDIT: I’m sorry I take that back as I’ve read this Sony TV does have good sound so I can watch until my components get to me! 🙌

Understood.  These guys are handling this better than I would, but Amazon is now the only place I can find any type of optical cable, ever since all the Radio Shacks closed.  Walmart, Target etc don’t seem to carry any, at least whenever I’ve thought to look.  It sucks when you’re in a hurry.  Same with the RCA converters.

Never thought I’d miss Radio Shack; don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.

@Basil Paul I do not want to order these components until I’m sure how to hook them up! 🤨

Can you tell me where I will put the other end of the RCA cables (I know I have to have one end in my Stereo receiver)… I think you are saying to put one end into the Digital to Analog Auto converter, yeah?🤔

Also confused about where these splitter boxes are used conjunctive to each other:

image.thumb.jpeg.5851d8e42e6f0ecd889f73a08e48eeff.jpeg

PROZOR 192KHz Digital to Analog Audio Converter DAC Digital SPDIF Optical to Analog L/R RCA Converter Toslink Optical to ...

Also A little confused about the hook-ups with my blu-ray players (I only say this because on my older TV that just died out all I needed was that single male plug connector into the TV and could here all the sound between all my components!)? 🧐

Also what about my ROKU-stick that I have plugged into the side of this new TV, will this need something else to get the sound from when I hook-up my stereo to my speakers (didn’t have to before 😠)? 🤨

WHY DID NOT SONY JUST KEEP THAT SINGLE SOUND COMPONENT ON THE SIDE OF ALL THEIR TVs LIKE THEY USE TO BE… that was so easy peasy! 😠 6D2DFF98-0C16-4CAD-A7B7-E076FFAD76A8.gif.512e0f78f3da585fab74b782bccc353b.gif  99EF86FE-2230-4B35-A75C-0E84ADC3FBD5.gif.9cc66e67f684d090552706cc294062ab.gif

Hey @Veum

RCA cables are for analog sound ..  new audio is digital  , modern AV Recievers And associated hardware / players are all equipped with multiple HDMI ports which carry multiple channel digital sound and digital video all in one cable  you’ll probably need to upgrade cables that are HDMi 2.1 compliant to get the best revsults ..

@ukade2327 ade my Stereo receiver is a ONKYO TX-8020 and ONLY can use the RCA cables, that is why I’ll need a Digital to Analog audio converter to connect the other end of the RCA cables, as my new Sony 4K does not have a plug-in for sound like my older Sony TV had that just recently died out on me!
