It`s just as you said.

 

People are becoming more and more selfish in their relationships, and not just in terms of things, but by putting themselves at the centre.

 

And there is less and less empathy, "the other" is only important as long as it completes a whole, or serves to fulfil a role decided in advance probably before even meeting you.

 

That's why "yours is wrong". Because, it's either not what the other person wants, or because it doesn't fit well into this huge prefabricated set.

 

It's a very common thing nowadays, a social trend. 

 

Sometimes I have the feeling that in their relationships people are looking for the comfort they had when they were children, ar their parents home, their comfort zone, or at least to remain the centre of the world, instead of "building" halfway.

 

If you add to this that nowadays people have forgotten that one should not judge, that to comment is not judging; and that one should respect things that are different; or that many times people start relationships out of necessity and not by choice, the result is what we (almost) all see around us and in our partners.

 

Many people are incapable of coexisting with other people, beyond what they can bring to them.
