It's weird how sometimes the littlest of things can suddenly veer into prominence when triggered by an occasion.

In recall, sometime past, the film "Lucy" was in in discussion here at MP and I saw a comment that perplexed me.

" Yeah, really cool movie, a chick gets possessed by Lucifer and kills a bunch of dudes, that's why they call her "Lucy".

Okay, not only am I paraphrasing here but embellishing the sarcasm at the same time.

My point I want to make though, is that this is absolutely the OPPOSITE of what the film is about or why she bears that name.

"Lucy" was the name given by Paleontologists Don Johanson and Tom Gray to the discovery of a set of bones belonging to one of the closest examples we have yet discovered, to the missing link.

In '74, in Ethiopia they had one hell of a celebration that eve, and were singing Beatles tunes. They started singing "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" over and over and so, named their new discovery, "Lucy".

"Lucy" was therefore used by Besson to mark in his film, once more, the evolutionary change in the human specie, this time on a cerebral level never before imagined.

I think this is an outstanding flik and a chance to own a Premium of it would be very much appreciated. 🙂

edit: I wanted to also mention, that the performance ScarJo provides as "Lucy" and as "Major Matoko Kusanagi" in GitS is so eerily similar that one has to wonder .... 😉
