Hmm, can someone explain to me why everyone on the UHD Editions (LotR) is so excited when they get this poster design (option 4)? Who should rather ask the designer to make another front, from which the backs also come. That would make perfect sense.

problem you got it is not as simple as design something up get it made.

there are certain approved artworks that the studio have in a portfolio and you can only use those (official artworks), otherwise you have to get something drawn up then thru the studio to peter jackson in this case and the studio happy to put in front of him.(legal dept etc)

There is a whole massive legal bit as well and takes usually at least a year or two for approval.

and then with all that the massive cost of going thru that process where is can still be rejected and money is in the bin.

if only it was as simple as you would like.

i used to think like that.

till i learnt how it actually all really works and yes its over complicated but its all about rights and ownership of said artworks and studio control that with every fibre of there very being (profit)

hope that explains and maybe clears it up a bit more

Good summary. I'll just add that for any new artwork the artist must also agree and get paid, so that raises the costs of the editions as well.

@Basil Paul, I'm aware of this. But only to think option 1 could be an already approved artwork is very painful. Therefore I don't really understand UHD club for such selection. But maybe this was only a proposal, although thas does not made it any better.
