I'm calling it now, Quentin's next movie is going to damn near nothing but three hours of women's bare feet. 🤣🤣🤣

The Movie Critic takes place in California in 1977 “and is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.”

Quote

He explained: “He wrote about mainstream movies and he was the second-string critic. I think he was a very good critic. He was as cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in Taxi Driver] might be if he were a film critic.”

Sipping his juice, he added, “Think about Travis’s diary entries.

“But the porno rag critic was very, very funny. He was very rude, you know. He cursed. He used racial slurs. But his stop using inappropriate language was really funny. He was as rude as hell.”

Tarantino did research into the reviewer’s life. “He wrote like he was 55 but he was only in his early to mid-30s. He died in his late thirties. It wasn’t clear for a while but now I’ve done some more research and I think it was it was complications due to alcoholism.”

No one has been cast. He acknowledged that there aren’t any actors in his repertory company in that age range. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, he conceded, are too old for the part.

“I haven’t decided yet but it’s going to be somebody in the 35 year-old ball park. It’ll definitely be a new leading man for me.”

Disney spent its Tuesday shaking up its movie release schedule in some very, very big ways. The biggest takeaway? That December 2025 Star Wars movie is no more. That’ll now be coming out in May of 2026 and a second Star Wars movie is coming out later that year in December.

Also, after the huge success of Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron needs a bit more time to finish his saga. Avatar 3 will now be out in December 2025, Avatar 4 movies to December 2029 and Avatar 5 to December 2031.

The bulk of the Marvel slate has moved too. Captain America: Brave New World was supposed to come out in May 2024 but now it’ll be out August 26, 2024. That delays Thunderbolts to December 20, 2024, Blade to February 14, 2025, and Fantastic Four to May 2, 2025. But what about the Avengers? THey’re hurt worst of all. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is moving a whole year, from May 2, 2025 to May 1, 2026. That, in turn, moves Avengers: Secret Wars to May 7, 2027.
