Andor Hype/Discussion Thread
Christopher replied to GuyIncognit0's topic in 'Star Wars' Club's Stars Wars Discussion
I’m not seeing Andor discussed much. Either here or just on social media. I’m sort of baffled because four episodes in I’m astounded. This is fantastic storytelling. The first three episodes had real tension, the ending packed an emotional punch, the acting is wonderful, the dialogue is rich and layered. The show knows when to talk and when to shut up. In simple terms: it tries to SHOW and not tell. We learn more about Andor by how he moves and deals with conflict than by what others characters tell us. I just love it. Better than any Star Wars or Marvel show. Already some of the best Star Wars produced. Some might argue it doesn’t feel like Star Wars but I would say it includes classic motifs: antiquated dirty tech, cute droids (trust the people who are kind to droids), rogues, and a classic hero’s journey. -
Multi Retailer Pulp Fiction (4K UHD/2D Blu-ray Steelbook) [USA]
Christopher replied to ShadowWarrior's topic in Multi Retailer
Holding out hope on the Manta release but Pulp is a definite double dip movie for me. But let’s see… -
Best Buy Nope (4K UHD/2D Blu-ray Steelbook) (Only @ Best Buy) [USA]
Christopher replied to ShadowWarrior's topic in Best Buy
The movie is very open and sprawling. The claustrophobia shown in this Steelbook is limited to the opening and a couple shots. Big miss I’d say. Doesn’t reflect the feel of the movie one bit. And I liked the movie! -
Jaws (Cine Museum Art #23) (WWA 4K UHD/2D Blu-ray Steelbook) [Italy]
Christopher replied to R1s1ngs0n's topic in Cinemuseum
Shhhh don’t tell anyone but depending on how the goodies are I might find a way to swap my steel for the Amaray. I have a Zavvi lenticular. But even if it doesn’t work I don’t care I’m pumped! -

Media Psychos Full-Slip Edition Award
Christopher replied to extantsrevenge's topic in Packaging Awards
Alright everyone, I’d like to submit, as an American, my 50 - count ‘em! - FIFTY Full-Slips for the extra special full slip round 2 award. Gotta keep the Americans in the lead. Despite the beautiful WeEt editions, I think Plain Archive’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is still my favorite.- 732 replies

Alright! My Dark Knight BluFans finally arrived. I’m not typically a lenticular guy but this surely can create some converts. Instead of going for lots of movement each lenti goes for depth. Just fantastic. The Steelbook itself speaks for itself. Such gloss I could barely snap a photo. The embossed bat sign is a lovely touch. And last but not least my Red Sonja arrived. It pairs nicely with my Conan Steelbook. IMG_4735.MOV IMG_4734.MOV

ZAVVI Lethal Weapon (Blu-ray Steelbook) (Zavvi Exclusive) [UK]
Christopher replied to R1s1ngs0n's topic in Zavvi
I will say, as someone who isn’t a completionist unless each entry is totally stellar, I’m happy I can just buy the editions from the movies I love. Same for The Godfather. -
I agree with everyone too. I originally got the John Wick NovaMedia Lentis because they had better art and colors but in person I grew tired of them. I got Unforgiven and Inglorious Basterds HDZeta lentis recently and am gonna sell them because they just seem quite tepid. The MantaLab Lenti of Blade Runner is spectacular though! And I have my fingers crossed for the Dark Knight BluFans DL that’s currently in the mail. I think for how my brain works, I see the lenti glued onto the slip and something about that turns me off. Likewise the lack of clarity can be a turn off. I like instead when lenti magnets are offered: recent Zavvi X-Men releases, and my Terminator 2 FA all have quality lenti magnets that I totally dig. Otherwise a full slip guy!

This ended up being my feeling as well. They took simple jokes and then just ran them straight into the ground. I absolutely loved Gorr but just wish they let him cook as others have said. Unsure why they didn’t. Spider-Man and Shang and Loki are my phase 4 highlights so far. I was underwhelmed by Strange but once I got over my high expectations I actually really enjoyed it as a brisk movie with fully radical elements. I think Phase 4 is probably suffering from being planned out before the Fox purchase. They didn’t know they would get FF and X-Men, and had to plan as if they wouldn’t get them, but now that they have them it feels like they are pivoting midstream.

ZAVVI Back to the Future (4K UHD/2D Blu-ray Steelbook) (Zavvi Exclusive) [UK]
Christopher replied to R1s1ngs0n's topic in Zavvi
Hoping for this too. Just sort of desperately want the first movie on its own, without the sequels, in a nice traditional art steel. -
Thank youuuuuu! Slowly racking up my awards. I think I have a couple more I could do next including - I think - the full slip 50 😬😬😬

MANTA LAB Exclusive Masterlist (including Manta CP & Manta Global)
Christopher replied to extantsrevenge's topic in Manta Lab
I completely forgot about the Fox titles. I’m sure they’ll go with what will sell well, but there is a LOT to choose from with that library. People have already mentioned a bunch. I hope they really tap into it. Particularly some modern classics. -
And for your consideration, 50 lovely steelbooks! These ones are mostly my Mondos, which I hope to complete someday. Many more to come although I am trying to thin my collection a bit at the moment.
