Thanks, @ShadowWarrior! Nice to some news on this release finally. Unfortunately, that artwork is certainly not what I was hoping for... maybe Manta will come through with something for us in the New Year?

Yeah that art is frustrating, would it have killed them to keep the same aesthetic as steels 1-4?

That's exactly the poster I had wanted on the steelbook, too. Hopefully Manta delivers something soon! And with a slip featuring the teaser poster:

Man... I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

The mockup you shared above looks so incredibly good. That teaser poster as the slip, coupled with the steelbook mockup, would be an absolutely killer combo, good call! I really hope Manta makes that happen!

Looks like Disney just barfed out another steelbook.  Still not as terrible as Universal's Super Mario steelbook but still pretty darn ugly.

I actually like it, especially the outside of the steel folded out like the pic shows! 🙋‍♂️

As a stand alone steelbook it is not the worst, but to completely choose artwork that doesn't match any of the other titles is the Disney way unfortunately.

Everyone's commenting on the steel, but ...good god, wtf is this monstrosity?!?!?

Is this going to be a future A24 classic?

I definitely would have preferred that!

There were some tensions/creative differences between the artist of that original poster (Tony Stella) and Disney.

He criticised them for tampering with his original designs of the poster.

He created quite a few designs that are head and shoulders above the artworks used for the physical releases so far.

I'm guessing that played a role in Disney ditching his commissioned pieces, which they probably paid good money for.

Either that, or Disney just wanted to create something "exclusive" that would "stand out" from what their competitors have released.

Interesting! I hadn't heard about this. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Manta can bridge the divide. In the meantime, I'll pick up the regular release; gonna skip this steelbook on this one.

I've posted this elsewhere, but these are the unaltered designs he created:

I have a feeling people will be going the custom route with these designs.

Not content with antagonizing collectors of physical media, this company also disrespects the work of talented artists whose only wish is to do justice to these movies (regardless of the movie’s actual quality).

Bunch of clueless pencil pushers.
