🎃 👻 It is that time of the year when spooky movies are to be watched (although I enjoy them anytime of the year!😉)…

 

thought I’d start out with one of my fav movie collections HAMMER HORROR! 😱

I bought this massive Hammer Horror boxset in October of 2014 from I believe JB Hi-Fi and am so glad I did when I did because it is one real difficult set to obtain now! 

 

Going to go through some of these films this October… anyone else have this set and enjoys it? 🧐

I ordered the individual ones of the first set, will wait for individual ones for the second set. Not into Boxset’s don’t like how there packaged 90% of the time.

Yeah I’m not too enamored with these sleeve types but these sets will cut down on my limited space, hey! 🙌

Going to start out with one of my The Vincent Price Collection I movies today!  

9/1 The Pit and the Pendulum (1961)  An excellent gothic horror tale with it’s beautiful castle landscapes to it’s eerie dungeon and exquisite interior production, superb acting and that menacing Pendulum and superb acting!
The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb (1964)  An enjoyable Mummy rendition that has an fantastic storyline with a very menacing Mummy and his curse… also the woman is very beautiful!! 

9/2 The Mummy (1959)  Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee as Kharis are excellent in this fine adaption of The Mummy… as usual the production value is superb!
Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970)  A secret society trio gents need more so-called “excitement” in their lives but little do they know… the 1st… the 2nd… the 3rd… again some very beautiful women in this Dracula story! 

9/3 The Plague of the Zombies (1966)   An excellent Zombie film from Hammer that I continue to enjoy especially the Zombies look and the production design… again some very beautiful women! 
Dr. Jeckyll and Sister Hyde (1971)  Always enjoy this adaptation with nice production sets and with a very evil/beautiful Sister Hyde/monstrous Dr. Jeckyll… some more beautiful women also! 
9/4 Insidious (2010)  Spooky happenings with a family and their son.
Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)  A mother and daughter use fake seances to help people unwittingly inviting a menacing spirit.

9/5 The Mummy’s Hand (1940)  A duo with the help of a magic man and his lovely daughter  looking for Princess Ananka stumble upon Kharis The Mummy… always enjoy these Universal Classic Monsters “B” films which I think are highly entertaining and well acted for what they are! 

9/7 House of Frankenstein (1944)  HOF has many great actors such as Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr., John Carradine, Glenn Strange and Lionel Atwill… the sets are exquisite and I enjoy the fiendish storyline along with a couple of pretty women again !

9/8 House of Dracula (1945)  Dr. Edelman sure is busy as Dracula, the Wolf Man and even Frankenstein Monster show up with hope in being cured, however Dr. Edelman’s plan backfires on him… there is a couple of beautiful women to assist !

9/12 Black Sunday (1960)  This has a lot of my fav ambiances in the eerie atmosphere, gloomy weather, castles with secret rooms/dungeons… however the acting a little wooden for me!

9/22 The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (2023)  S1 E1 L’ame Perdue Daryl has landed in Zombie land France 
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (2023)  S1 E2 Alouette Trouble continues on the road. 

 

10/1 The Phantom of the Opera (1962)   Pit violinist Claudin hopelessly loves rising operatic soprano Christine Dubois (as do baritone Anatole and police inspector Raoul) and secretly aids her career. But Claudin loses both his touch and his job, murders a rascally music publisher in a fit of madness, and has his face etched with acid. Soon, mysterious crimes plague the Paris Opera House, blamed on a legendary "phantom" whom none can find in the mazes and catacombs. But both of Christine's lovers have plans to ferret him out.

10/2 The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945)  In 1886, the dissolute Lord Henry Wotton meets Dorian Gray posing for talented painter Basil Hallward. Dorian wishes that his portrait could age instead of him. Over the years, as Lord Henry corrupts him, Dorian remains the same, while his friends age, but his picture discloses his evil life. Can he still have salvation or is his soul trapped in the doomed painting?

10/3 Dan Curtis’ Dracula (1945)  Count Dracula's centuries-old existence is threatened after he attacks the lovely Lucy Westenra. When Lucy's fiancee calls in Dr. Van Helsing to investigate, a spine-tingling hunt for the vampire follows. Filmed in England and Yugoslavia.

10/4 The Thing (2011)  At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. While Dr. Halvorson keeps to his research, Kate partners with Sam Carter, a helicopter pilot, to pursue the alien life form.

10/5 Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde (1931)  Based on the story by Robert Louis Stevenson, Dr. Henry Jekyll believes that there are two distinct sides to men - a good and an evil side. He believes that by separating the two man can become liberated. He succeeds in his experiments with chemicals to accomplish this and transforms into Mr. Hyde to commit horrendous crimes. When he discontinues use of the drug it is already too late...

10/6 The Scarlet Claw (1944)  The villagers of the tiny hamlet of La Morte Rouge in Canada are terrified - a legendary glowing monster has reappeared, flitting through the nearby fog shrouded marshes, sheep have been found dead, their throats cut. Holmes and Watson are attending a meeting of the Royal Canadian Occult Society when Lord Penrose hears of his wife's death. Holmes offers his help which Lord Penrose declines. But a letter delivered to Holmes and Watson written by Lady Penrose before her death, expressing a vague fear for her life and pleading with him to come to the village. Holmes and Watson instantly postpone their plans to return to London. As Holmes says: ""Consider the tragic irony: We've accepted commission from a victim to find her murderer. For the first time we're retained by a corpse.

10/14 The Bride (1985) This gothic tale, inspired by the indelible themes and characters originally brought to life by Mary Shelley, follows Frankenstein's creations as they search for their place in the world — the gorgeous Eva by declaring her independence, and her grotesque intended mate Viktor by learning self-worth from a compassionate circus dwarf. Can Dr. Frankenstein survive when the monster returns to claim his intended?

10/15 Dominion (2005)  In 1947 at an archaeological dig in Africa, Father Lankester Merrin has his first encounter with demonic forces.

10/16 Mad Love (1935)  Doctor Gogol is a renowned surgeon who is obsessed with stage performer Yvonne Orlac. So much so that he actually goes to the theater every evening just to see her. He is disappointed to learn from her that she is leaving the show to join her husband, famed pianist Stephen Orlac, on a much delayed honeymoon. The Orlacs no sooner set off than they are involved in an accident where Stephen's hands are crushed. She begs Dr. Gogol to do anything to save her husband. He decides to graft new hands to replace those that are crushed and uses those from a recently executed prisoner, Rollo the Knife Thrower. When Stephen regains the use of his hands those around him find that he has also undergone a personality change and is now prone to violent fits of temper. He's also very good at knife throwing...

10/18 Hannibal Rising (2007)  After the death of his parents during World War II, young Hannibal Lecter moves in with his beautiful aunt and begins plotting revenge on the barbarians responsible for his sister's death.

10/19 The House By The Cemetery (1981)  The plot revolves around a series of murders taking place in a New England home - a home which happens to be hiding a particularly gruesome secret within its basement walls.

10/21 Drag Me To Hell (2009)  Christine Brown is on her way to having it all: a devoted boyfriend, a hard-earned job promotion, and a bright future. But when she’s forced to make a tough decision that evicts an elderly woman from her house, Christine becomes the victim of an evil curse. Now she has only three days to dissuade a dark spirit from stealing her soul before she is dragged to hell for an eternity of unthinkable torment.

10/22 Blood From The Mummy’s Tomb (1971)  A British expedition team in Egypt discovers the ancient sealed tomb of the evil Queen Tera. But when one of the archaeologists steals a mysterious ring from the corpse's severed hand, he unleashes a relentless curse upon his beautiful daughter. Is the voluptuous young woman now a reincarnation of the diabolical sorceress or has the curse of the mummy returned to reveal its horrific revenge? One of Hammer's most notorious productions, BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY'S TOMB was plagued by the sudden deaths of director Seth Holt and the wife of original star Peter Cushing, leading to rumors of a real-life curse. Based on Bram Stoker's classic novel JEWEL OF THE SEVEN STARS.

10/23 Son Of Frankenstein (1939)  Wolf von Frankenstein returns to the Baronial manor from the United States with his wife Elsa and son Peter. He not made welcome by the locals who are still terrified of his father's works and the monster he created. The local Burgomaster gives him a sealed briefcase left by his father and inside, Wolf finds his father's scientific notes. At the manor house he meets his father's assistant Igor who has a surprise for him: the monster his father created is still alive, though in some sort of coma. Wolf's initial attempts to re-animate the creature seem to fail but when Peter says he saw a giant in the woods, it appears he's met success. When people are mysteriously killed in the village there is little doubt that the monster is responsible...

10/25 Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man (1943)  Larry Talbot finds himself in an asylum, recovering from an operation performed by the kindly Dr. Mannering. Inspector Owen finds him there, too, wanting to question him about a recent spate of murders. Talbot escapes and finds Maleva, the old gypsy woman who knows his secret: he's a werewolf. She travels with him to locate the one man who can help him to die - Dr. Frankenstein. The brilliant doctor proves to be dead himself, but they do find Frankenstein's daughter. Talbot begs her for her father's papers containing the secrets of life and death. She doesn't have them, so he goes to the ruins of the Frankenstein castle to find them himself. There he finds the Monster, whom he chips out of a block of ice. Dr. Mannering catches up with him only to become tempted to monomania while using Frankenstein's old equipment...

10/26 Manhunter (1986)  Former FBI profiler Will Graham returns to service to pursue a deranged serial killer dubbed "the Tooth Fairy" by the media.

10/27 Night Monster (1942)  Dr. Lynn Harper, psychologist, has been called out to the old Ingston Mansion, in order to make an assessment of the sanity of Margaret Ingston. She claims to be sane, but she's clearly very disturbed. But then stop using inappropriate language Baldwin shows up on the scene, just when Dr. Lynne has been receiving thinly veiled threats from the inhabitants of the house. Three medical doctors have been invited out to the mansion as well; one by one the doctors are mysteriously murdered. stop using inappropriate language Baldwin must figure out who is doing the killings, and he must do so before whoever it is can kill his new love interest, Dr. Lynne Harper. But the only one he can trust is Kurt Ingston himself, since Ingston has no legs and can't have perpetrated these murders. And of course, Lynne might be wrong, Margaret may be very insane, and she might be the culprit...

10/28 The Omen (2006)  In this chilling remake of The Omen — that is even more terrifying than the original — man's darkest fears are manifested as an unspeakable terror is unleashed on the world! U.S. diplomat Robert Thorn (Liev Schreiber) substitutes an orphan for his own stillborn baby in order to spare his unknowing wife (Julia Stiles). But after a series of grotesque murders and dire warnings, the Thorns come to the horrifying realization that their child is the son of Satan!

10/29 Psycho(1960)  A Phoenix secretary embezzles $40,000. On the run she checks into the remote Bates Motel, run by a young man under the domination of his mother.

10/30 The Exorcist (1973) director’s extended cut  When an innocent young girl is possessed by a demon, a priest struggling with his faith is asked by her mother to perform the ancient rite of exorcism.

10/31 The Wolf Man(1941)  A British nobleman undergoes a startling transformation when he's bitten by a gypsy werewolf.

It’s because in one of your synopsis the word “cancel” is used to describe what’s going on in the movie. That’s one of many triggers words that will automatically be flagged for approval depending on how the word is used. You’re fine in the context that you are using it, but the messages will still have to be approved anyways.

I went back and edited it to “postpone” will this help on not having to be edited then? 🤔 

 

Like to get in my walking early in the day + I need to do some raking leaves 🍁 yard work & I need the extra sleep time to make up for those hours I do not sleep in throughout the night! 🤪
