Obviously, the original is a great great movie. The remake doesn't. The original is wonderful, the remake is not. The original made history, the remake didn't. The original is original,... the other is not.

 

The 1968 version is a really good movie.

 

Still, I have to say that Tim Buron's version -and I'm not a Tim Burton fan- entertained me, and, even being clearly inferior, I don't think it deserved to be stoned so much. It may have been made in a way that was already beginning to look obsolete, science fiction cinema was moving towards fictional realism, but even so, if you can watch a film without complexes, without needing state-of-the-art effects at all,, and without expecting something comparable to the original, you can spend a good time.

And forget it after finish.
