  1. Yeah, I did. It was pretty good, it's been a while though. The social media component for some reason rubbed me wrong back then. Don't remember why, that's my vague memory. I imagine now I'd feel differently about it. The food truck road trip was cool. Maybe I misunderstood @GuyIncognit0, I thought he meant those more historical light dramas. Maybe he did just mean food movies. Anyway, Chef is a nice watch too.
  2. Sorry bud, I wish. There is a nice little hook at the end that I wasn't expecting, not necessarily a twist, just a nice "historical" tie in. We really enjoyed it. But again, it feels a bit like a palate cleanser, a pretty light but smart movie for in between two heavier or challenging films. (for the lurkers - Delicious (2021) )
  3. If it would have been a rickshaw returning from hell, I'd be good.
  4. Okay . . . here it is . . . Event Horizon.
  5. It would be great to hear what movies everyone walked out of. I have only walked out of one film, ever, and I am going to get a big 'ole clapback from many members here who love the film I left.
  6. Yep. Didn't hate it, let myself go and exist in that world for the 16 hour run time, and am happy to experience the new one, whatever it offers.
  7. Absolutely right, and thanks for adding that in. I am NOT a hater, that's not my thing, and am glad he is doing what he has earned the right to do. I hope he uses that money to make something awesome. Maybe he'll give some to Coppola to finish his movie.
  8. I'm still getting to know your tastes buddy, so curious if you like it. We liked it a lot because we watched it after The Marksman & The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. So I needed to have a peaceful movie that was chill but interesting and took me some place (France 1789) that was distant and dreamy. And Sophie is French and a fantastic cook, so we got that going too.
  9. I agree 100% and have been thrashed by my boys for not getting as swept away as everyone was. It's an achievement, no doubt, it flexed the technical side of filmmaking, which is incredibly important, but as a movie, as a film "document", I don't think it was even close to on par with other Cameron films from a storytelling/character standpoint. Well said @Casiusco. I'm going to see the new one in NYC at the iMax in a couple weeks.
  10. If you want a "foodie" movie that is super relaxed and a well crafted watch, try Delicious. It's an easy going pre-French revolution story about a chef to a Duke. More subtitles, more reading, more grey cell flexing @Reagh! It's a nice palette cleanser.
  11. I certainly hope someone is doing a documentary. It could end up being that we have a fantastic sequel to Heart of Darkness too, 50 years later.
  12. Very nice. Congrats. I really enjoyed zooming in and looking around. Is that a miniature Palais Garnier opera house? It doesn't quite look like it from that angle.
  13. I certainly hope you're right and will try to join you in your optimism. But . . . an 83 year old using his own money on a film, when he's never directed something as technically difficult as this, I'm skeptical this will end well. I welcome being wrong.
  14. I loved this movie. As you note, those two together, so many great moments. I've already decided next time I teach, I'm going to use this movie. Particularly the crafting of the scene in the hotel room before they make the run for the train. Holy schnikey. Elevated Christian Bale even a notch higher in my eyes. Agreed on Raiders. I love that franchise so much, I'm willing it to be amazing. As you and I discussed a few months back, the casting of Fleabag, friggin' genius. It would be interesting if she becomes the new "Indy", unlikely, but what a great 21st century spin that would be. Dial of Destiny? Terrible name. Hope you're on the upswing buddy. Sucks to be sick.
  15. Sorry Mike. Take care of yourself. Sounds like you’re in good hands.
  16. These are obviously not like Elvis in terms of size. Do we have an idea of the size?
  17. now I want to watch Ticket to Paradise.
  18. For some reason I can’t see what film you are referring to.
