I like this a LOT. Would have been especially useful last year for me when I was gone on my bicycle trip. And even right now I’m in North Carolina attending some family issues. Definitely upvote

I preordered the fullslip from CM so long ago. Haven’t gotten notice of shipping yet. Part of me thinks they lost it 😂 -

Looks so gorgeous! I wonder how snug a Steelbook will fit into the fullslip. I preordered from CM years ago and have since received a steel. Snug is fine if it’s snug. I suppose we’ll see! -

Took this gloomy photo of my collection and my luggage at 4:30AM. Jinxed myself 😭 flight delayed by 8 hours. At least I woke up and could snag the Ultron GB -
ZAVVI Red Sonja (4K UHD/2D Blu-ray Steelbook) (Zavvi Exclusive) [UK]
Christopher replied to Hecko's topic in Zavvi
I had never seen it and had little desire until a friend recommended it. I actually loved the art design, the soundtrack, the B-movie level of pop and cheese, and that Arnold - despite not being able to act yet - can still hog the screen. Plus the fight between he and Sonja! -
I’ve seen it and am ready. There are a few spoilery things to discuss. I shared some of the hype disappointment that some had, but I also really liked it because of how small actually was. Ironic because it’s actually big!

Tbh I’m glad the reputation is just due to that. I don’t lament too many people for slowing down during Covid, Particularly European countries where shipping restrictions have been so strong. -

I asked once what everyone’s issue with the company was. I was worried the owner was sketchy or something. But I ordered Jaws directly from them and it’s been well over a year now. 😂😂 -

More a “look who is coming back!” more than anything. Jane Foster Thor looks just like she does in the Jason Aaron run which has me crazy excited. This entire movie hinges on her and Gor the God Butcher though. I’m excited! -

Meanwhile in Oregon… If I didn’t work this afternoon it would be a great day to stay in with some movies. -
Yeah you’d either need to make the entire movie about this relationship a la Hannibal Lector movies otherwise it would have been indulgent in an already long movie. Plus the Manhunter/Silence comparison might have been too spot on.

Again I just have mixed feelings! It essentially has the same sort of vibe as Joker. And I initially liked Joker but it soon faded as I lost interest in ever seeing it again, despite it thematically being interesting.

I also watched this today. I won’t pile on. I felt mixed leaving. There was a lot I enjoyed - the color pallet especially - but a couple things made me feel..off. I don’t mind a slow movie. Thin Red Line is one of my all time favorite movies. But each scene felt paced lethargically. With characters taking a LONG time to do simple things, often for “artistic” visual effect. Everyone seems to move to the pace of the Nirvana song they used, which made me want to clap at them, “Hey let’s go, there’s a terrorist on the loose!” I don’t know how I feel about the Riddler yet. Spot on saying it felt like he was out of a Saw movie. Or Seven. Not bad things to cop from! But the Riddler’s violence was upsetting. He felt also like an amalgam of United States domestic terrorists from the 90’s. I don’t know that that’s a bad thing or a good thing, but perhaps paired with the overall slowness and heaviness of the movie, it felt unrelenting. There was no release. Great counter: the violence from Zodiac is also upsetting but it’s offset against real humor and pathos from its leads.

Oh I’m excited for this. I just read the book this Fall. In the book Affleck’s character is sort of written like a semi sociopathic Cary Grant. Super charming, everyone likes him, you root for him, and yet…I LOVE Patricia Highsmith. Basically trying to read all of her books right now. The books are always more fun than the movies though so we’ll see if they strip down the fun in favor of the darkness. Seems like they are.
