  1. Thank you @Fortis93 for the challenge. Like so many other psychos, my favorite genre is science fiction. There are way too many to pick just 5 but here is a combination of favorite movies and favorite editions of mine in the genre. The movie(s) that started my love for this genre? Star Wars of course!
  2. My dad got me into westerns and Hang em High was one we watched a lot together. It’s one that doesn’t get talked about as often as other Clint Eastwood movies, let alone the western genre, but I’ll always love it because of those early memories with my dad.
  3. @extantsrevenge fine, here is my least favorite adaptation…Batman vs Superman. The cast is phenomenal, the source material of The Dark Knight is legendary, the movie…so disappointing.
  4. I think this is the best I can do. I did some digging and found a copy of Alice in Wonderland that I didn’t remember I had. Couldn’t find my copy of LOTR though. My favorite adaption is either Shawshank Redemption or Alice. It seems like there’s few times when the movie is better than the book (or short story), but Shawashank Redemption is definitely better than the Stephen King story. Alice is such a unique movie and interpretation of the source material. Jan Svankmeyer (sp) is amazing.
  5. I had moved so frequently that I had passed along my movies and my books. Only recently have I started re-amassing my movie collection. The books I still do have don’t apply. I think what I miss most would be the Akira manga. I keep telling myself I need to pick that back up. Probably should get a copy of LOTR too.
  6. @Reagh I saw this first as an email notification and was like...did I post something in my sleep?!? Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the sharing.
  7. Only way they could sell this garbage is if one of those discs was the original theatrical release
  8. Thank you @Blu Magic Ray for what has been the most difficult challenge for me to complete. Much like @Veum I was scratching my head this morning wondering if I would have 5. I knew that some of the titles I could think of wouldn’t count as there isn’t a couple on the front of my copies (the already mentioned titles of Her and Wong Kar Wai films). So here are my 5: -Weathering with You -Your Name -Adoration -Jeremy and my all time favorite romantic movie -Overboard Sure, Overboard’s premise is disturbing but it’s just a movie. Kurt Russell is my favorite actor and Goldie playing the love interest is perfect! I don’t think I own any other rom-coms or romance movies and most of the ones I do own don’t have a happy ending, lol.
  9. Alright @extantsrevenge you want it, you got it! But will you be able to sleep at night knowing this exists and it’s your fault?!?
  10. Encino Man! That DVD release is definitely "old and moldy"! Would love a a 4k/boutique/steelbook for that one! Maybe with the Brendan Fraser love-train going on someone will tackle it? ...please!
  11. Thanks @extantsrevenge for a challenging entry! I tried my best to abide by the rules…I think I’m not missing any Blu-ray or steelbook releases though there may be a foreign Blu-ray release here and there. Part 1: these are the movies that I most want an upgraded version of. Dogma has a rare Blu-ray release that needs a 4K upgrade. I think Pi has a foreign Blu-ray release but I don’t know about the transfer. The Killer and Hardboiled have Blu-ray releases but they are just from the dvds and not remastered. Gleaming the Cube and Krush Groove definitely have no Blu-ray release. Part 2: I have a lot of discs that I honestly wouldn’t double dip on for a steelbook release. There are plenty of criterion, vinegar syndrome, arrow releases etc that I could’ve used but in all honesty probably wouldn’t double dip with a steelbook on. So here are a couple movies that neither have a steelbook release or a premium release that I would upgrade…I’ll probably just pick up Tropic Thunder 4K in the future. Castle of Cagliostro I probably won’t upgrade to the standard Blu-ray that came out but would love a steelbook for to go with other Ghibli/Miyazaki steels. Dark City, The Cell, and The Rundown are all movies that I love and wish I had a premium or steelbook version of. Would really like to see The Cell in 4K as well!
  12. Thank you @lunazero for the week 19 challenge. Here is my submission 1920s - Haxan 1930s - Love and Duty 1940s - I have no physical media for any 1940s movie!?! 1950 - Apu Trilogy 1960s - Big Time Gambling Boss 1970s - The Brood 1980s - Girlfriend from Hell 1990s - Jack be Nimble 2000s - Mulholland Drive 2010s - Hateful 8 2020s - Tar I chose each for the same reason, they are my most recent pick ups in each decade! 1980s would be my most favorite decade, so many great action movies that I grew up with. No ANH but at least got ESB and ROTJ! I probably started collecting VHS movies in the 90s when they finally became affordable.
  13. Hi @goose_3387 when you get a chance can you update my banner for gold membership? No rush at all. Thank you homie!
  14. @Steelbook Indy I had been expecting to see a huge Pop! collection from someone, thank you for not letting me down! @Scary Hair If you see SD Comic Con exclusives, feel free to ask me if I can try to pick them up for you. I usually go to SDCC and while some items can be very tough to get (Pops for example) others are not.
  15. How do you like the Taschen book? I've been eyeing their Star Wars book for years.
  16. Loving everyone's collections and creativity! I'm surprised to see how many card decks there are though I now realize/remember that I also have some Star Wars card decks. @extantsrevenge I actually primarily collect 1/6 action figures, mostly Hot Toys. Would love to see more of your statue collection @R1s1ngs0n I have several Mondo posters but they are so big and take up so much room. I honestly forget about the drops nowadays and really only buy their timed editions. Are you able to display your entire collection or do you rotate them? @Pbsw23
  17. Yes, you can use the same item type for different franchises. So a card deck for Sorcerer's Stone, A New Hope, Lion King, Iron Man, and Fellowship of the Ring is acceptable but not a card deck for Sorcerers Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix is not. Would prefer as much variety as possible but at the same time dont want to completely restrict people especially if one specific collectible is your thing.
  18. It's the reverse of the Season 3 steelbook...which evidently is now a pricey steelbook. It was super common and cheap when released. I dont know why they didnt put pickle Rick on the front as he was the highlight of that season.
  19. Challenge 18: “Merchandi$ing! Where the Real Money from the Movie is Made” 1. Pickle Rick Christmas Tree Ornament – Rick and Morty Season 3: This is my favorite in terms of ridiculousness. It was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law who definitely know that we aren’t Christian and don’t celebrate Christmas but BIL recognized the awesomeness of the concept. Pickle Rick is displayed year-round in our household but if we did have a tree I would love to hide the pickle every year. 2. Dolemite bobblehead – Dolemite: I love Rudy Ray Moore and while I don’t think this bobblehead nailed his likeness, I love the fact that I have a Dolemite bobblehead with a spring activated arm that enables "Bone-crushing, Skull-splitting, Brain-blasting" punching action! 3. Lo-Pan POP! – Big Trouble in Little China: my main focus in collecting is actually 1/6 scale figures but I have a few POPs for accent pieces throughout my man-cave. POPs are everywhere and it seems like everyone and everything has a figure so I am pretty discerning when I buy one. Other favorite POPs include my Balrog and Sir Mix-A-Lot (his base is a butt). 4. NECA They Live Action Figures – They Live: another John Carpenter entry. The Frank figure was a Shout factory webstore exclusive that I bought with the pictured copy of They Live (themed candies or mints came with him as well). I picked up the alien 2-pack at FYE on sale and only recently bought George Nada. Something ironic about the messaging of the movie and my purchasing of these figures along with multiple copies of the movie (yes, I have the 4K steel too). 5. Death Star Cheeseboard – Star Wars: of course a Star Wars item is on my list as that franchise is what launched movie merchandising. Spaceballs called it decades ago and it’s still true, Star Wars is literally on anything and everything. I would imagine most Star Wars fans would be able to complete this challenge with Star Wars merch alone. Off the top of my head I have Star Wars themed cups, shot glasses, chopsticks, posters, books, coasters, clothes, night-light, clapper, band aids, re-usable grocery bag, pez dispenser, Christmas stocking, and of course multiple toy lines. I chose to highlight my cheeseboard as I think this one for me most highlights the depths of Star Wars merchandising. I don’t even use the thing cause the cheese gets stuck in the Death Star details!
  20. Hello Psychos. Thank you to @extantsrevenge for allowing me to bring to you... Challenge 18 “Merchandi$ing! Where the Real Money from the Movie is Made” This is your chance to show us all your stuff from the movies you love. We want to see 5 movie-related items along with the movie the item comes from. You are free to use any release you want and whatever merchandise you want! Examples include (but are by no means limited to): toys, clothing, cups, tins, plates, books, posters, statues, and anything else someone threw down cold hard cash to obtain. While you are allowed to use any media type there are a couple of rules about the items you may use. Rule 1: The item must have been purchased either by yourself or someone else as a gift. Extras as featured in Challenge 3 are not allowed. Rule 2: Soundtracks, while awesome, are not allowed as they were the focus of Challenge 9 “Don’t Stop the Music” Rule 3: you may only use 1 item-type per movie or franchise. As an example, please don’t submit 5 MCU-related Pops and 5 MCU movies or 5 Star Wars statues and 5 Star Wars movies. We want to see variety either in the merchandise or the movie or preferably both. As a bonus – please tell us why you selected these 5 pieces of merchandise.
  21. Feeling like crap today, wife has been sick and her Covid test turned positive today. Pretty sure I have it too. This will both of ours first Covid illness, pretty good streak we had. I didn’t think I had the energy to do this today but these dynamic duos popped into my head and had to post them. Frodo & Sam - AFIAC pretty much the strongest bond between two friends in any movie…or book. Return of the King is the culmination of their friendship though my favorite is probably Fellowship. Han Solo & Chewie - the ultimate ride-or-die homie, Chewbaca. R2 and Luke and R2 and Anakin are close. Solo is displayed as that’s when they met in the movies. I liked this movie and was down for more Han & Chewie buddy smuggler spin offs. Indiana Jones & Short Round - pretty much the embodiment of Chewie in a little kid. Best part is when Indy is beating up Khalima and SR is beating up the prince in the same shot (chef’s kiss). Bill & Ted - could anyone less excellent have been more triumphant? I don’t think so. Jake & Elwood Blues - It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of smokes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it!
  22. Thank you. No, don’t have TOC. There’s definitely a couple I’m missing between TOC, the horizontal steelbook from Germany, I think an FYE, and others. I honestly never intended to have a collection but it just manifested organically and as it’s a top 5 movie for me so I never sold any old versions.
