I would love the ESB one but I have nowhere to display it & it would be such a waste to have it locked in the loft like my other posters & prints :(

Same. I already have many Mondo posters and others that I don’t have wall space for. I cut myself off of posters a couple years ago.

  3. Challenge 34 - DAYS OF FUTURE PAST!!?

Thanks to @jwhitm3 for this challenge. It’s always fun when you’re watching a movie that at the time was set in the future but it’s now the past.

    1. X-men Days of Future Past - Starting off with the titular title, filmed in 2024 and taking place now in 2023.

    2. Riki Oh - filmed 1991 and taking place in 2001.

    3. Predator 2 - filmed in 1990 and taking place in 1997. The future depicted, excessively hot due to “global warming” and outlandishly violent and pervasive gang violence, seemed almost like a sure-bet at the time.

For the tech, there’s plenty that I would want but as I just picked up my Hot Toys Delorean from BTTF 2, let’s just say that!

im fearful to get 9 UHD Clubs all within weeks/months of one another.
I tend to say f it and deal w the fallout - but I’m just unsure of the release schedule - If it were 1/month I’d feel better.
anyone know the planned release schedule ?

I am the same way. If these were released with a much larger time difference I probably would get all of them. As the GB are all going up at the same time and already having Gold Label LOTR and Silver Label Hobbit, I really can’t justify getting them all. I’m just going to get the Godfather trilogy as I don’t have a premium already for those releases.

  5. Challenge 33: Intermission

    Andrei Rublev: 183 minutes

    Barry Lyndon: 185 minutes

Fanny and Alexander: 188 minutes (theatrical version)

    Inland Empire: 180 minutes

    Kwaidan: 183 minutes

I don’t think I left a movie for the restroom and missed something. I definitely need to get up to pee a lot more what with many theaters serving beer but I choose my moments carefully. I did fall asleep during The Hunt for Red October. I saw it in the theatre with my grandfather, I must’ve been 10 or so and slept through most of it as did my grandfather! We always laughed at us both falling asleep.

  6. Challenge #32: The Sticky End

Thanks @Scary Hair for an interesting challenge.

I selected Indiana Jones both Raiders and Temple have some fairly brutal endings. The face melting and explosion of Nazi heads is a classic. Kahli Ma’s demise in Temple of Doom, while not terribly gory, is always a favorite. Ripped apart by crocodiles…or are they alligators, is never a good way to go. Last selection is Coohagen face getting all transformed and bug-eyed in the original Total Recall.

My ultimate end is from Riki Oh. Dude gets thrown into the meat grinder.

  7. Challenge 31: Did That Really Happen?

Thank you @cypheria078 for this challenge. I think my favorite movie that would fall into this category would be 300. It’s an absolutely killer movie and depicts one of the most famous battles ever. Perfect job of taking real events and embellishing them. In a similar vein is Spartacus.

I included Rush which is a fun movie though the relationship between Hunt and Lauda was over sensationalized for the sake of making a more compelling story.

The exorcist was based off of a book which was inspired by true events and the exorcism of Roland Doe.

Young Guns…Billy the Kid did exist. Not sure how much truth there is to any part of the movie though!

  8. Challenge 30: The Villains

Well I was going to wait for the weekend for this but @extantsrevenge be hitting us with the guilt trip about not posting AND it looks like I’m going to have to post 100 steelbooks this weekend as well, so here we go!

Immortan Joe - Mad Max Fury Road. Probably my favorite villain in terms of character design (besides Vader).

Evil Ash - Army of Darkness. Hilarious bad guy and a great concept. Recently saw this in the theatre again, absolutely love this movie.

Sutler and Creedy - V for Vendetta. Couldn’t choose who I hated more in this movie but they were both such satisfying death scenes.

Lo Pan - Big Trouble in Little China. Kind of in the same vein as Army of Darkness, more comical than maniacal. “Shut up Mr Burton! You were not brought upon this world to ‘get it’”

Agent Smith - The Matrix. V is back but as the villain. Perfectly portrayed.

My favorite villain has got to be Darth Vader. Nothing really much to say that hasn’t been. After that probably the Joker, the shark from Jaws, xenomorphs, the predator. Decided not to post any of those as I don’t want all of my submissions to be dominated by those movies/franchises!

  9. Thanks @hal56 for this weeks challenge. I just got Freddie Got Fingered while hunting around for movies yesterday, so that completes my challenge. I don’t have the Rocky collection but plan to buy it in 4K once the price comes down.

Challenge 28: Best of the Worst

Rambo: First Blood Part II - 1985 Worst Picture, Worst Actor

Rambo III - 1988 Worst Actor

Hudson Hawk - 1991 Worst Picture

Armageddon - 1998 Worst Picture, Worst Actor

Freddie Got Fingered - 2001 Worst Picture, Worst Actor

A lot of the winners aren’t that bad…except for Madonna, she’s awful. I guess Armageddon is the one I disagree with the most. It’s just a Summer Blockbuster, we allow action/superhero movies to operate outside the scope of what is actually possible.

  10. Challenge 26: Women in Film

The month of March is Women’s History Month in the US and for this challenge we would like you to showcase 5 films that were either produced by a woman, directed by a woman, or featured a woman as the movie’s main character. All releases are eligible for this challenge. Additionally, we want to know your favorite woman in film and why she is your personal favorite. This can be your favorite actress, character that they played, director, etc.

Point Break – directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Years before she became the first woman to win an Academy Award for Directing (The Hurt Locker), Kathryn Bigelow directed this absolute cult classic gem. She has also directed several other well known movies such as Strange Days and Zero Dark Thirty. Utah! Get me two!

Morvern Callar – directed by Lynne Ramsay. Ramsay makes some great movies including Ratcatcher, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and You Were Never Really Here. She also was the writer for all these films, though Morvern Callar was based on a novel, and was a producer for We Need to Talk About Kevin, and You Were Never Really Here.

The Slumber Party Massacre – directed by Amy Holden Jones. Editor, producer, writer, actor, director, Amy Holden Jones is an individual of many talents. She was slated to be the editor for ET but left the project to direct her own project. Slumber Party Massacre wasn’t a huge hit at the time but it lives on as a cult classic with this 4K release recently being put out by Shout Factory. The two sequels were also directed by women (Deborah Brock directed SPM 2 and Sally Mattison directed SPM 3).

The Babadook – directed by Jennifer Kent. I love this movie. Kent most recently directed The Knightingale, a film that I have not yet seen but will check out at some point in the future.

Titane – directed by Julia Ducournau. This feature won Ducournau the Palm d’Or at Cannes and was the second woman to win this award (Jane Campion for The Piano). With pictures like this and Raw under her belt, I am looking forward to her next movie.

My favorite woman in film probably needs to go to Sigourney Weaver. I grew up in the 80s watching the high-testosterone, action packed movies of Schwarzenegger and Stallone and Weaver was the first woman action-movie lead I remember watching. Plus she’s great in the Ghostbusters movies.  I do also have a soft spot for Meryl Streep as she is just an amazing actor.

  11. Thanks to @extantsrevenge for this idea and for religiously maintaining and updating this thread. I really enjoy participating and it is now part of my Sunday morning routine - check out the new challenge, get a cup of coffee, sip said coffee as I prepare my submission. And thankfully now some weekends I will be doing that with F1 on in the background!

Thank you also to @Cornbuster for the trophy designs.

I know it's a long way off, but hopefully we get to 50 challenges and may I suggest instead of an award at 50 we have a 1 year award at 52?

Also maybe a trophy for those who come up with challenges will help keep interest up and sustain us to that point.
