Quote

From Robert Eggers, the visionary director of The Witch and The Northman, comes The Lighthouse, a hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two men teetering on the edge of sanity.

Two “wickies” – one inexperienced (Robert Pattinson, Tenet), the other a grizzled veteran (Willem Dafoe, To Live and Die in LA) – arrive on a remote New England island in the 1890s for a four-week stint maintaining the local lighthouse. But as isolation and personal differences take their toll, both men slowly succumb to their inner demons and to the strange, otherworldly allure of the lighthouse itself…

Featuring virtuoso performances by its two leads, striking and period-authentic monochrome photography, and shot through with wickedly dark humour, The Lighthouse is an intense, claustrophobic experience like no other that cements Eggers’ status as one of the most exciting filmmakers of our time.

I would expect something more than a slip given that it also comes with the 60 page "perfect bound" book.

I would too, but after one of their recent announcements it sounded like the boxes were going to become a rarity. It sounds and looks like The Lighthouse will get one, but I’m still antsy to know for sure! 😂

I'm not sure what announcement that was, but the new Waterworld seems to have box for its disc and "60 page perfect bound" book, so I would think Lighthouse gets one as well.

@deckard99 Ken, is the text in the booklet for that Japan collectors box set in Japanese, or 50/50 Japanese/English?

Thanks in advance!

@Manticore4 It's in Japanese with almost no English but some nice photos and illustrations. I posted some photos of the edition here.

@deckard99 thanks very much for posting those sample pages, that Japanese box is a very nice edition. I just today received the new A24 edition which is also “very artistic” in its design, similar in that regard to the Japanese box. The film is being well-served!
