Mine just arrived. I love it. Just like the Singing in the Rain release but even nicer. Both are Warner Bros. So hopefully they sell well enough they’ll do more of their classics. Just perused the 100 Warner Bros classics and so many would be great choices. Searchers please!!

Where are you located?  I'm in Virginia and it says mine won't be here until next week.

Some pics if you have a chance.  Glad it's nice in hand!

    Please do!

I picked up the Star Wars sets and think they are pretty nice. I just can't justify buying anymore since I rarely play cards and I don't want to start another collection. But this set is really tempting me...

Yeah, I get it.  My buds and I have a game night every other Wednesday, so I use all of them.  However, because they are cardistry cards, they have to be broken in.

I've also ordered the Kings Wild Project LoTR, they are a little more bespoke, I'm curious to compare.

This sounds like something you would read at the beginning of a novel. 😄  How can you post this without a pic?

You're very insightful @Boilersteel, I was feeling contemplative and humbled by the experience this morning.  Our dog is going to be 13, and has hiked thousands and thousands of miles with us, and she's slowing down a bit.  That's right, at almost 13, she is just now starting to slow down.  We were feeling the specialness of the moment.

It was one of those mornings when the fog is thick and deadens all ambient sound, you hear every footfall, you hear the leaves crunch, you hear the dog panting even when you can't really see her. We were in the moment and never thought about a pic.

In the distance we heard what sounded like a growling wind coming toward us, over the mountain.  We saw lights peppering the fog above, moving really fast.  The dog stopped, and gave a deep growl I'd never heard before.  Then a Tie Fighter swooped above us and we fell to the ground.  We knew the Empire was getting close, but we didn't know that today was the day . . . the day our oasis of a peaceful rebellion would be invaded.

Then I came home and made a coffee and ate a cinnamon roll, and was told I couldn't watch Andor anymore.

  4. MANTA LAB : ME13 War for the Planet of the Apes : Full Slip : 2D + 4K

A nice edition.  Some really great texture on the full slip and some nice raised spot gloss (whatever this technique is called).

The detail in the horses moving through the mouth on the cover is particularly nice.

My only comment with this one, like most of these editions, is the inconsistent printing on the cards.

The character cards are great, smaller size with the white rounded border, and the printing is pretty decent. Most of these were probably sourced from a set photographer, so the original file was probably a decent resolution.  The movie scene cards are not great, bad color balance, and some poor gamma, some light banding, and not great shadow rendering.

The steel is vivid and super punchy. The design is a bit obvious to me, but still well executed.

Another thing I notice about these Manta slips, is the lack of wrap lip on the back top or bottom.  On a busy design, that little edge on the back doesn't bother me so much, but on something this clean, the box has to be smooth all around to get the full effect in my opinion.

Overall, very happy to add to my collection.

So I am healing from a surgery and can't walk down the steps for at least 4 weeks and my movie collection is downstairs.

Options 1) Skip the next 4 weeks of challenges. 2) Ask my wife for help, although not sure I trust anybody to handle my movie collection 😄 and my wife is pretty much doing everything right now so this request likely won't end well. 3) Try to limp down the stairs (yeah that's not going to happen 😆). 4) Maybe I can have my kids grab some miscellaneous amarays that are stored away from my main movie collection to satisfy some of the upcoming challenges.

Gonna go with number 4, will see how this goes.

I think you tweaked your knee a few days after I joined MP.  Holy cow, what a long road, hoping the worst is over, though.

Maybe @extantsrevenge will give you some leeway: instead of pics of your collection, you have to chill on the couch and watch the movies that fulfill the challenge!

Take care of yourself my man!

Seconded, the E.T and Jaws edition might be bigger but thats about the only superlative one can use. They  are not as robust and classy as the classic DP Editions and also have no added value to them. I hope this format will not be used again.

So DP it is. If Indy LOTR and Hobbit wont be released in wooden cases they shouldnt release them at all.

Well, when I was on the fence about UHD Jaws, I got a lot of feedback that the format was great and the edition was great.  I'm happy with it and glad I got it, but who knows, that could change.   I appreciate you being so clear about your preferences, I like this kind of detailed input.

I find them to be, in a word, flimsy. And they feel like one-offs size-and-design-wise. not to mention I think UC have enough variations already to work with. Without them introducing more size variety than they already do with each DP edition (no 2 are the same size, maybe TDK...) Though in retrospect I'm not sure I consider either title worthy of the wood treatment that BR got.
And... they are OC size - thinner, but taller :P

So... normal DP edition please 😎

    Noted.

I have opinions, but hold on to them loosely.  As I get more of these editions and read everyone's preferences, I'm sure my opinions will change.

    Thanks for the thoughtful response.

@extantsrevenge  IS SO LUCKY he has Red Squirrels all year round in his Garden .

They are so used to him and his family, the Squirrels have taken them on as Squirrels on 2 legs .

Also hes so hard working and buries nuggets of juicy information for all of us around MP he really is a Super Squirrel

Noice!! He's one with nature, a squirrel whisperer.  I love it.  Well, he certainly runs that MP Challenge super smoothly, and keeps track of it down to every detail.

I get it.  I thought maybe his backyard was full of buried OCs he was saving for the apocalypse.

    Thanks @Scary Hair

That's right! The Compendium finally puts all the Star Trek Into Darkness special features in one place. The original Into Darkness release was stilted in that some features were online exclusives, others were retailer exclusives, with no way of collecting them all. This set fixes that.

The Star Trek (2009) discs are the exact same though (which I still watch regularly, because the 4K disc unfortunately has terrible encoding).

The set is pretty spartan in terms of physical design, the big draw for me was that it's the first time the IMAX cut of Star Trek Into Darkness was available.

I'm gunna have to search that out.  I love both those movies.   Thanks.

Excited to share my collection here—Star Trek has it's own section in my lineup, and it's easily my favorite. I am behind on a few of the newer series, I don't have the latest seasons of Picard, Discovery, and Lower Decks. I'm sort of wondering if I should just wait for the inevitable box set of those.

The Voyager and DS9 DVD's really blew me away too, they look so much better than their streaming counterparts.

Also, my TNG films box set is signed by Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn. That was a fun convention day.

I see you have the Compendium.  That's the films and all the extras of the JJ Abrams films right?  Does it add much to the individual releases?  Am I getting it confused with a dif Compendium?

Fantastic collection.  I have the same issue with the Picards, the steelbooks look great, but in 2 years we may have some special box set.
