  1. Has anybody here seen The Legend of Hell House with Roddy McDowall? Ive read the book a few times and really enjoyed the story and atmosphere but im afraid that the subject matter might be toned down for a movie made in 1973.
  2. Nice set @xSNAKExPLISSKENx! Im buying one from @Masterblaster as well but im hoping it doesn’t take two months, will be sad 😞. Im also getting a copy of one of my other favorites, the Red Archive Red PET version of I saw the Devil. I cant wait! that conjuring set really is a work of beauty!
  3. Ok cool. I thought maybe i did something wrong and i wasn’t supposed to buy one or something. Thanks @LeGonze!
  4. Hi All, Quick question. I checked the store and saw that there were 2 platinums left. Bought one and got the confirmation email but i just noticed that the tiered memberships are no longer in the store. Are they all gone already? There were like 56 gold left. Did i just get lucky?
  5. I would have been good with that. After checking whats coming out im also excited for halloween kills, train to bussan 2 and conjuring 3. Im optimistic about candyman and antebellum (didnt know it was considered horror)
  6. @xSNAKExPLISSKENx I forgot whats all coming out but Antlers and quiet place 2 were at the top of my list.
  7. Off topic but kinda excited. Just got my first membership tier.
  8. @xSNAKExPLISSKENx Se7en just happens to be my favorite flick period. Not that Ive seen it more than say Jaws, Aliens, Big trouble in little china or the thing ( the others in my top 5) but there was a different feeling walking out of that flick. Saw it in the theaters not knowing anything about it other than being a serial killer movie and was just blown away by everything in it. The lead cast, the opening credits, the end credits, the minimal score everything just hit me at the exact right time to make it to the top of my list. Unfortunately I wasnt collecting when the one click from manta labs was released and now its a bit up there but I have the single lenti on the way and I'm hoping that someone does a nice 4K release.
  9. @Grendel Everything on your list that I have seen has been fantastic. I especially liked Heraditary, the Witch and It follows. Unfortunately I have not seen the following yet: Mandy, Midsomer, The babadook and the witch: subversion. Also it looks like I will be adding Sputnick to that list as well. All these will be after I watch Island of Lost Souls of course!
  10. I mentioned in another thread that when I was young the first 3 horror movies I watched and remember as a kid were the Island of DR Moreau (1977 not the brando one), Horror Express and Humanoids from the deep. From there it grew. I fell in love with The Thing (I still watch anything Kurt Russel is in, even if its a santa clause movie) and all things Sci-Fi/Horror. My Dad and I would constantly go to the movies and watch just about anything Action and Sci-Fi as he didn't care for the horror flicks. As I got older I discovered a little magazine called fangoria and dove into the F/X aspect of the genre. My wonderful Mother would take me to the horror conventions so I could meet my childhood heroes like Freddy, Jason, Leatherface and Linda Blair. Then I went to high school, discovered girls and found something new. Now as a father I like to share the movies I loved as a kid with my own children and see how they take to them. Our son is 18 and took to Sci-Fi and Fantasy, our daughter who is 12 took to horror and our youngest daughter who is 6 is a little up in the air and hasn't decided yet. Although she loves Scooby Doo the og gateway horror in my opinion. To me all things scary are fun from page to screen and all things in between and the best time of year is when the leaves turn orange, there is a crispness in the air and Ghosts, Goblins and Ghouls are prowling the streets looking for candy.
  11. @romain I did see it and really enjoyed it. I also started the second season of the terror from amc last night and liking it so far. I havnt started lovecraft country yet but im going to based on @xSNAKExPLISSKENx recommendation.
  12. What is everyone’s take on modern horror? While I've enjoyed the 2 conjuring movies, hereditary, a quiet place, the it movies, dr sleep and bone tomahawk (although the last one may as well be considered a western, I'm a sucker for a russel mustache and that ending) there hasnt been a ton that I've been super excited about. Maybe i wear rose colored nostalgia glasses, but a lot of the new stuff seems either really tame or over the top mean. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places?
  13. And here I was just going to jump in and ask if someone tagged @Grendel because i thought we share a similar taste in films...
  14. When i get home and off of mobile im going to take inspiration from @Hollywood E Rock and relate my introduction to horror. With that said I absolutely had to chime in on the vampire topic. I am so happy to see Near Dark, Fright Night, 30 Days of night and JC’s Vampires on here. Those are some of my favorite vampire flicks of all time and its so cool find like minded individuals that think the same! As a dad to 3 kids ive used fright night to be an introduction to horror over the years to my 2 oldest.
  15. Im Bones and Im a new Psycho that was raised on 80’s horror. I agree with you guys, picking 3 is tough but ill do these: 1. The Exorcist (i would pick Se7en but i think its more of a thriller). 2. The Thing 3. Halloween (1978, but I loved 2018 as well) Anyways thanks for starting this thread @xSNAKExPLISSKENx!
  16. @Grendel I love the Exorcist and Legion, never saw 2, thought the beginning and dominion were ok at best, and thought the first season on fox was an interesting take but nothing holds a candle to the other two. I bought the arrow collectors version of Beyond the Door but havnt watched it yet. Maybe ill ask wether its worth my time in another thread...
  17. Watching to night as opposed to last night. One of my favorite flicks next to Se7en. The George C. Scott and Brad Dourif scenes are some of the best in my opinion. I was extatic when SF put out their set.
  18. @Grendel I am in the US but im region free so Im always looking for the version with the most appealing presentation
  19. Thank You @Grendel I certainly didnt expect that much information! Thanks to @Veum, @Fortis93 and yourself, Im sold on the Charles Laughton version and ordered the criterion from amazon As a horror kid growing up in the 80's I consider myself privileged to see alot of outstanding flicks in the theaters with my Father. Alot of them were great in my opinion(Near Dark, The last starfighter, Enemy Mine, The gate, Big Trouble just to name a few), and some, in hindsight, I feel bad for dragging him too (American Ninja comes to mind). And now as a father myself of 3 Kids from 6 to 18, I like to show them the kinds of movies that I loved. Its really fun to watch one take to Sci-Fi and Fantasy and another take to horror. As for that Near Dark, at first I was partial to the Paxton cover but I may be swinging back to the Cover you got above. Thats my next order after I pay @Masterblaster for a couple of very special movies Im dying to get my hands on!
  20. @Grendel Easily in my top ten of all time if not top 5. My lovely wife got this set for me for xmas last year. It kind of started me on my path to collecting special editions and is one of the reasons im here 🤪!
  21. Thanks @Veum! I have not seen that version yet and I will start looking for it.
  22. @Grendel lol i couldnt stand the Brando Moreau. I did however really enjoy the lost soul doc. I streamed it so im not sure what additional features the 3 disc set has but I’ll definitely check out the disc. I have seen a bluray copy of the lancaster version put out by Kino Lorber but it seems kinda bare bones and i wasn't sure if there was maybe another version that had more meat to it. For example, here in the states a bare bones bluray of Katherine Bigalow’s Near Dark (another fav of mine) is oop and like $50-70 but there is a media book version thats around the same price but just looks much better for the price.
  23. Thanks @Grendel! It was one of the first 3 horror movies i remember seeing and loving as a kid. The other two were the Horror Express with Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Telly Savalas and The Island of Dr. Moreau with Burt Lancaster and Michael York. I would love to find a good edition of Moreau but i havnt looked for a region b disc. Was one ever put out?
  24. @Grendel I may have gotten a little excited and jumped the gun a little bit. Still, with tax and shipping it was only $40 but ill have to learn to be a little patient and look around a bit lol
  25. As a new member to this hobby, Thank You @Grendel and @Scary Hair to introducing me to editions that I may not have found on my own! Just ordered from ebay. One of my favorites!
