club invites were sent out already? Nothing on my end yet.

You may not get a ping or direct message. Check under "Clubs" on the top of the page and then on the right you may see it under "Pending Requests". If it's there just click on the little green check mark next to it.

If it's not there you may want to give it a little more time as I believe these are sent out manually.

  3. Something to keep in mind for those of you upset over the lack of 4k discs...

I understand that the 4k disc in the French steel had an issue with subtitles. English subtitles were not automatically provided when the characters would speak Cantonese or Mandarin. The only way around it was to turn on the English closed captioning for the duration of the film. It's for this reason that I purchased the US retail disc.

I'm not sure that a Nova 4k disc would have had the same issue but the purchase of another disc may have been necessary anyway for us English speakers. The US retail release was $9.99 last holiday season - and you get a digital copy. I think the Nova price would have increased by more than $10 if it included 4k discs.

All my really graphic design-y NM lentis are super deep and clear.  I'll prob go for lenti if I don't go OC.  I'm looking forward to what they do with that super busy design in a lenti.

Anyone still just collecting 1/4 slips?

I really don't know what I'm doing here. I could go 1/4 or I could go all the way to OC.

  5. @Reagh I'm very sorry.

As everyone else has mentioned, you have been a real bright spot here and one of the main reasons I looked forward to logging on to this forum. I've lost count of how many times you've gotten a laugh out of me. That being said, I understand the need to step away.

I truly wish you the very best and please stay in touch.

Yes, totally agree! I'm looking forward to seeing more of Rey's story. I didn't love how the sequel trilogy ended but I still love the characters—wonder if they'll bring in anybody else from the sequel trilogy...

I doubt we'll see anyone else. John Boyega made his feelings pretty clear (and I don't blame him). Oscar Isaac has just become too big of an actor and I'm not sure he'd want to anyway. I think he mentioned he might come back if he decided he wants another house, ha.

None of the major characters were pleased with how it all transpired. I think Daisy is mostly back to try to jump start her career again. It's a shame because the Rey's faults had nothing to do with her - I personally think she's an underrated actress.

Am I the only one who doesn't trust this? The only one who thinks they're going to "wear out" the mythos, and that the further they move away from George Lucas the worse things get?

That they haven't learned from previous failures.

That they think that just by putting the "StarWars" brand on it, it's all good enough.

Maybe I'm the only one. But it's my opinion.

For me there's more StarWars in Episode III than in the whole third trilogy put together. And I have that third trilogy at home on Blu-ray and 4K. But it's another thing what I think of it.

Will they go so far as to make "the force" seem like just another superpower like any trendy superhero?

The only thing I liked about this news is that at least they chose James Mangold. I think his work on "Logan" is sublime, it would be even epic if it wasn't for that sugary Spielberg touch at the end.

All my respect and admiration for George Lucas, wherever he is. He was criticised a lot, and he had hits and misses, but everything he did smelled of StarWars from afar.

Some of us miss him (a lot).

You're definitely not the only one. Recent history makes it difficult to think any other way.

I'm just trying to hold out hope that they have positively received the feedback from the sequel trilogy (and some of the D+ shows) and that we'll see some change.  I have some faith in Filoni because he just seems to "get" Star Wars. IMO, he's having a problem adapting to live action though.

  7. Hello all,

Here is a summary of the big news coming out of Star Wars celebration:

    • Three new live-action Star Wars films are currently in development.
      • James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma, Ford v Ferrari, Logan) has been hired to direct a film centered around the first Jedi. Dawn of the Jedi is described as a biblical epic and will take place during the Old Republic era.
      • Dave Filoni will direct a live-action film which will bring together the events of the "Mandoverse". It will showcase the "escalating war between the Imperial remnant and the New Republic."
      • Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's film will take place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and focus on the rebuilding of the Jedi order. Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey.

    • "Andor" Season Two Will Debut August 2024
      • A trailer was shown to those in attendance but, otherwise, a trailer has not been released to the public.
      • It will be the final season.

    • "Acolyte" will debut sometime in 2024
      • This "mystery thriller series" takes place near the end of the High Republic Era, about 100 years prior to the events of the prequel trilogy.
      • The director, Leslye Headland originally pitched the series as "Frozen" meets "Kill Bill"from the bad guys' perspective.
      • The plot will center around the emergence of the Sith
      • Samurai films are reportedly a large inspiration

    • "Skeleton Crew", a TV series featuring Jude Law, will release near the end of 2023
      • Honestly, I'm still having a hard time finding out much about this one
      • It will focus on a group of kids (about 10 years old) lost in the galaxy and finding their way home.
      • It is said to have been inspired by The Goonies.
      • Various directors have been revealed for the series, including Jon Watts, David Lowery, The Daniels duo, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.

    • So far, no new news on the previously announced Rian Johnson and Taika Waititi projects.

    • "The Bad Batch" has been renewed for a third and final season.

    • "Star Wars: Visions" has been renewed for a second season.
      • This is the series that turns over the Star Wars universe to well-known anime studios for a unique twist on the Star Wars franchise
      • It will premiere on May 4th, 2023.
      • A trailer debuted. I will post it in a separate post below.

    • "Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi" has been renewed for a second season.

    • "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" will return to theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
      • Showings will start April 28th and run for a limited time at select theaters.

    • "Ahsoka" is set to debut August 2023
      • Those who have yet to see the animated series Star Wars: Rebels might want to watch it prior to the premiere.
      • A trailer was released:

@GuyIncognit0 where you at my friend?  Hope all is well.  We gotta talk some Mando.

Hey - doing alright. I appreciate you checking in.

The kids are keeping us busy with them being home for spring break. Life is just chugging along otherwise. As for my absence, the short of it is that I decided to step back for a bit after a recent GB left me feeling...dismayed? I can't think of the proper word.

Anyway, I hope you (and all of you!) are well! Sorry to have missed your birthday, @Reagh. I hope it was a great day!

Yeah, after they started working for Cid, it became a little repetitive and circular . . .  go get this and I'll give you something, go do that and I'll tell you something.  Still enjoyed it.  That seems like a thing with these Diz Star Wars shows, the first season of Mando was the same, it didn't move forward enough soon enough for me.  Then Andor came along and f'in showed everyone how to do it.

Yet another post I missed - sorry.

I agree. It seemed like they were getting somewhere with this one a few weeks ago but we're back to the same old stuff.

I don't understand how they went from Clone Wars and Rebels to this. Clone Wars admittedly has a lot of filler bur Rebels is comparatively lean and always moving forward. You would think that they figured it out.

  10. I'd really be interested in some of these - Thrawn especially. I've heard the books about him are very good and I'm hoping to get to them soon. I think we'll be seeing him a bit in the upcoming Ahsoka series. We've received enough backstory from others (like Saw) to keep me satisfied.

One the wasn't mentioned in the article is Bo Katan. She's had a good amount of screen time for a secondary character but I want to know what happened on Mandalore during her rule. How did she fail? We hear that she failed because of the curse of obtaining the Dark Saber without fighting for it but what specifically happened to cause that failure. I want to know more about "The night of 1,000 tears". And how did Moff Gideon get a hold of the Dark Saber?

@GuyIncognit0  Oh man, it's been great so far to be honest.  Directing some commercials for Publix and have had a lot of down time to eat a lot of Disney food and chill by the pool!  The heat, not so bad this time of year.  But the traffic . . . f'ing road rage juice must be flowin out of the tap down here.  Every resident of Florida is born with two middle fingers on each hand and an AR in the back seat I think.  Interstate 4 Corridor = Thunderdome

I'm glad you're having a good time so far! You're right in that the heat isn't too bad right now. It was a little cooler a week or so ago and I'm worried the summer is already trying to creep up on us. And yes, I-4 is absolutely terrible. I avoid it as much as I can.

Make sure to check out the Dolby Theater at the Disney Springs AMC. I think it's one of the largest (for Dolby) in the country and is one of the few with true dual laser projection. If my schedule allows, I'm going to try to head up there on Friday to catch Creed III.

I'm reminded of an old quote...I had to look it up or else I'd butcher it.

"What we should try to do is keep politics as local as possible. Keep the politicians near enough to kick them." - G.K. Chesterton

Except replace "politics" with "premium retailers".  Fitting that they happen to live in the boot-shaped country.

But I'll try by myself I think ! Do you guys know if I would have any chance to get my hands on a Single or Double Lenticular if prepared enough ?

Direct is possible but always a risk. It could sell out quickly, there can be payment errors, etc.

Based on what Nils said above, you wouldn't have any trouble securing a single lenticular here. 👍

I went and saw this yesterday and thought it was a good MCU movie. Better than Love and Thunder or Multiverse of Madness in my opinion. But it's not top tier MCU. I am definitely seeing more negative reviews from critics than from regular movie goers.

Critic reviews are what I was going off of earlier and you're definitely right in that the general audience review is much more positive.

I saw it Friday and was entertained. I'd put it somewhere near the middle (the lower half) of the MCU.
