Just found out there is a third Fletch movie, Confess, Fletch, which came out in 2022 starring Jon Hamm. How did I not know this?

It’s much more faithful to the tone of the books and really quite good.

Agreed.  I really liked it.  There were several moments that paid tribute to the original, but it really felt like a fresh take and it worked for me.
