I pre-ordered both versions as well, though I'm disappointed there is no steelbook option for Avatar 1.

And I'm still hoping for some premium editions to pop up, but knowing Disney....

Yeah...I'm not holding my breath on premiums for this one. I thought Disney was pulling waaaaay back on third-party licenses. If that Predator edition from Film Arena is any indication, I think it'll be a long, long, long, long, long wait before we see any news let alone an actual product.

That was my general understanding as well, although I'm holding onto a glimmer of hope that Bob Iger being back at the reins will mean a bigger emphasis on physical media. That's what he seemed to imply, anyway. But we shall wait and see how true to that Disney actually is.

Here's to hoping. I'd love to see them bring back some version of their Vista Series with special packaging, like they did for Tombstone, Pulp Fiction, Unbreakable, etc. Make the releases special, damnit!

I wouldn't mind some consistency in artwork, too. I'm feeling pretty anal about there not being a steelbook for Avatar 1 and having to go with the slip (beautiful as it is!), but then going with a steelbook for Avatar 2 because the slip for the 4K is god awful (although the Walmart lenti looks nice). I wish they'd match 'em up!

Same! I'm not sure what they reasoning is behind this decision, but I would have expected one to be released at the same time as Avatar 2. So if we aren't seeing it now, we might not ever get one.

I've been impressed with Walmart's Lenti editions, as I've picked up some of them. I couldn't find a decent picture of it yesterday and my Walmart app just had a placeholder with "Image Coming Soon," but I'm pretty sure I'll be picking it up as well because the one I did see looks pretty good. Wouldn't mind at all double-dipping on Avatar!

I wasn't a big fan of Avatar the first (and thus far, only) time I saw it back in, what, 2009, 2010? But the marketing hype has infected me! 🤣 And besides, not only is it James Cameron, it's James Cameron in 4k!!!! So yeah, I figure I gotta at least give the first one another shot and check out the sequel. At least both sets seem to have a nice bevvy of extras. I'm sure we'll be double-dipping in a few years for the inevitable extended cuts, at least.

I'm hoping the included digital codes will unlock the extended editions. If they do, I may just stick with those...unless Disney does something REALLY special for a physical media release of the Extended Editions. I already own the Extended Edition of Avatar 1 on Blu-ray, but I wouldn't say no to maybe a steelbook release of Avatar 1 if it include the extra 10 minutes of footage lol.

Stupid Disney always milking me for my hard-earned money....

That would be nice! I think we both know how this is going to go, though... 🤣🤣🤣

Full gloss, artwork looks great, and then Disney barfs all over the spine. What were they thinking. There is literally no title displayed on the front, back, or spine, just an A.  Nothing this company does will shock me.

Personally don't even care about the spine, but still who comes up with these dumb ideas.  Probably the people who thought it would be a good idea for the Disney 100 series artwork.
