The problem I encountered is I'd get distracted by a playing movie and not get done my other tasks 😆 I'm more apt to put on a TV show when I'm cleaning, folding laundry, etc. and my go-to's for that is Star Trek: The Next Generation and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

This is exactly what happens to me 😂. I don’t put movies on anymore unless it’s a task I’m really dragging me feet on and wouldn’t mind procrastinating a bit more.

I also tend to throw on a show instead as I don’t get sucked into them because I’ve seen them so many times. Usually it’s Scrubs, The Office, The Simpsons, Parks & Rec, Seinfeld, or Brooklyn 99.

Now, every now and then I’ll throw on a slow paced film when I want to go to sleep. Something like Office Space.

Im not familiar with this situation happening but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that virtual buying does not actually mean it is yours for life !  maybe thats what happend the license ran out for that particular streaming platform and that is why they "disappeared" ??

A very real possibility. And one of the main reasons I collect physical media.

Does anyone else have movies disappear from their vudu library?

I heard a few people complaining about this a week or two ago on other platforms. I never came across an explanation for it. Some thought that duplicates or "old versions"may have been removed but there's no way you had 200-300 of those.

I haven't noticed anything in my library but I also couldn't tell you how many I have. It's kind of an afterthought for me.

Just in case this isn't completely facetious, but Tuesday is New Release Day in the States. Those of us who are day one shoppers and need their immediate fix on brand-new home media hit up the store. Of course, given the current state of affairs and the ever-shrinking store space for movies, Tuesday isn't nearly as exciting as it used to be. And it used to be a real big deal way back when. I remember working at Best Buy when Titanic released on VHS - we had a special midnight opening for shoppers to come and get their copies as soon as the clock struck 12:00 AM so they could be the first ones to own the film.

Those were better days 😢. It was nice being able to share that excitement in a community setting.

"...anyone who’s visited a Best Buy store location on a Tuesday recently will be all too aware..."

OK, I know Im from down under, but why could you can visit BB on Tuesday?

Is this some new American thing where only certain parts of a store open on a particular day of the week?

And does the rest of the world need to watch out for this new nefarious strategy to get us to buy things online?

It seems odd for him to bring it up that way because you'll see the bare shelves any day of the week but Tuesday is when the new releases come out.

I‘m giving it a try myself with a couple Amazon UK preorders after my Shawshank and Jaws Film Vaults got busted up in transit thanks to the flimsy cardboard mailer they decided to use for international transit, and my copy of Bloodsport was lost entirely.

I’ve heard mixed things about using it for international orders.

I only have personal experience with Amazon.it. They still used that flimsy mailer but the steel was in the gift bag. So I guess it was a little better.

I’m sorry to hear about Bloodsport. Grindhouse (albeit at a higher price) still had it last I checked.

Amazon may ship in a box (sometimes) but when they do she steel is loose and free to bump around.

I always shell out the extra $3.99 for the gift wrap option. So far, it has guaranteed a box and that the steel is in one of their gift bags.  It’s not perfect by any means but at least two steps above the usual form fitting bubble envelopes and paper-thin cardboard mailers I’ve received from Best Buy, Target, and Wal-mart.

I’d easily pay that additional amount to any retailer who would guarantee decent packaging. It’s just that Amazon is the only one that comes close.

My plan was to just get the regular retail and hope for a Manta discless release (seems more likely with the Marvel fare these days). Seems like it may be a decision that's ultimately forced upon me.

I may adopt this plan as well - depending on how things go in the next year. Either that or just buying opened copies on the secondary market.

:) 🤠 would like to get M3GAN 4K UHD steelbook but late to the party w/Best Buy boohoo 😢

Can we (MP) possibly get a Premium from our (MP) retailers for this? 🤔

I wish I saw this earlier, I was just at a Best Buy that had 3 of these in stock. I could have grabbed one for you.  Just know that every single one of these that I've seen in person or online has the same damage. There's definitely a production error with these.

I wouldn’t put it in the top tier with Sopranos, Breaking Bad, but just below those.  I don’t watch a lot of series anymore either, mostly movies.  For much of the first season, it feels like episodic, independent stories, then it finds its footing and takes off in the last few episodes of season 1.

Walton Goggins is excellent, the best thing in the show.  After the show becomes more about the conflict between his character and Timothy Olyphant’s character, it gets great.  Probably goes without saying, but if you have any kind of taste for Elmore Leonard (originally based on a story of his, and kind of has that spirit throughout), or that kind of crime fiction generally then you’ll probably love it.

Hmm, sounds interesting. Maybe I'll check it out. Thanks for the description and I always find it helpful to know how long it takes for a show to get its footing. I generally can push through some growing pains/changes so long as I know when it ends.

YES! This movie blew me away. Really enjoyed it. Couldn't believe they pulled it off without almost any dialogue at all. What did you think?

I also really enjoyed it. I've grown to really appreciate any attempt by a filmmaker to really embrace film as a visual medium. Too often these days films are filled with exposition so it was a breath of fresh air in that category for sure.

I do think it has some story issues, particularly in the the third act and they bother me a bit more as I put more thought into it. I was honestly tempted to run it back and watch it again almost immediately to get a better grasp on it, lol.

I don't know why we don't see Kaitlyn Dever getting more work. She was fantastic in Booksmart and obviously in this as well

FYI, North American Psychos, I posted this in the German room, “Dies und Das”:

I’ve been trying to figure out why there is so much animosity in the German room towards the movie Barbie, and I do believe that it is a cultural phenomenon that appeals much more to Americans than Germans (or Europeans in general). There has been a HUGE number of new members that were drawn in by the announcement of the Barbie Manta Lab editions, well over 50 new members since the announcement of this Group Buy. That’s really almost unbelievable if it weren’t true, but it is. I regularly greet new members, and I have barely been able to keep up with the torrent of new sign-ups to be members of MP.

A simple tally of the people who have ordered a Manta Lab Barbie edition is quite surprising. Only THREE people from Germany, ONE from Switzerland and NONE from Austria have made requests, while so far there are 104 requests from the USA. That might say something about the appeal of this movie, whether it’s the humor or the writing or the iconography of Mattel toys…. Who knows??? I am a heterosexual male, and I absolutely loved the movie because it was able to laugh at itself.

Certainly this will bring up some discussion I hope…

Interesting. I might go look up their responses as I'm curious. I only need to go back, what, 50 pages probably 😅 Unless you just posted it.

My initial thought was that the maybe they doll itself isn't really popular outside of the US but then I just saw that more 40% of the dolls are sold outside of the US (primarily Europe and Japan). It's funny you bring this up because I was just thinking earlier today if we would get a Mean Girls premium if it was released today. Now...perhaps it's the type of humor? I know we rarely have any premiums of comedies - possibly due to the fact that tastes in honor so widely vary?
