@Fortis93 You have some good points. It has some aspects of horror, but not enough to call it a horror film or categorize it as one. But just my opinion of course.

    And that's completely fair.

It's probably not a horror film in the conventional sense, but for me, it combines elements of horror with war film to tell a survival story/thriller.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I think that was a film that effectively combined the language of horror and suspense with war film. That's just me though. Part of it's magic is that you never really see the enemy in the same way you never really see the 'monsters' in a lot of effective horror films.

  3. Just off the top of my mind, some of my favourites (including those which combine horror with other genres) are:

The Exorcist, Psycho, Misery, John Carpenter's The Thing, Alien, Aliens, A Quiet Place, The Conjuring 1 & 2, Insidious 1 & 2, It Follows, Dunkirk, The Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, Jaws, Train to Busan, The Birds, Predator, Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom, Island of Lost Souls, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, Get Out, The Night of the Hunter, The Return of the Living Dead, Ghostbusters, Halloween III: The Season of the Witch, Let The Right One In, The Sixth Sense, Shaun of the Dead, Young Frankenstein, Them!, It! The Terror From Beyond Space, etc.

So, definitely a bit more than a 'handful' in my case. xD

    I don't know 🤣... Maybe I went too far 😄

But these are the only good ones in my opinion.

US, Get out, The Shining, Hereditary, Halloween (1978), The Lighthouse, Silence of the lambs, The Quiet Place and The Conjuring

    Fair enough.

    Some excellent choices there.

I don’t know if you’ve been on Zavvi lately but 88 is releasing a nice trilogy of I Know What You Did Last Summer if you’re into 90’s slashers. Definitely picking one up. I’m not sure why it’s only through Zavvi as I can’t locate it on their central site.

Yeah, I'm always keeping an eye on new releases from Zavvi and am slowly, but surely working my way through the list of films I want to buy. xD

I'm hoping they release something akin to the French set of 35th anniversary release of the Back to the Future trilogy on 4K/Blu-Ray:

Also wanna say how great it’s been finding MP, it’s allowed me to delete Reddit because I can come here to talk about movies now. Reddit’s environment has devolved into extremist levels of politics and I’m really happy to be away from them. Thank you MP!

You left one mad house for another.

    Just kidding. xD

    Welcome to MP, mate.

And to answer your previous question, I've been using a software package that I bought a couple of years ago that allows me to play both DVDs and Blu-Rays across all regions on my PC (I have a DVD/Blu-Ray player installed on it as well). Like you, I have quite a few films from various regions, including releases from 88 Films (great selections there, especially for an action/martial arts junkie like myself), so it's great to be able to watch them as well.

i found a hack for my panasonic player online :D

    dont if you got panny

    but the trick was this

stick disc in let it load up screen region A locked

    press stop

    press no.1

    press top menu twice

it then loads in the correct menu

    bypassing the region locking

    you may now play it

and once the disc is ejected it goes back to how it was, i checked

Aquaman is still an Absolute pile of steaming doo doo. 😂😂

It's a fun, colourful ride, dammit!

With action sequences and visuals that give most of those of the Marvel films a good run for their money (Oh, yeah, I went there). xD
