Joker (Cine Museum Art #20) (4K UHD/Blu-ray WWA Steelbook) [Italy]
ethnosax replied to Benoit46's topic in Cinemuseum
The lenti is just transition, not also depth, right? -
Two more questions: Any chance of removing "The Final Cut" text from this? I feel like we're at a point where we don't need to highlight that on every release any more. It would be more elegant and timeless with just the title. Any confirmation of BR2049 UHD moving forward before this one closes? Thanks!

Media Psychos Full-Slip Edition Award
ethnosax replied to extantsrevenge's topic in Packaging Awards
I'm mostly a lenticular collector, but by bringing in some old favorites I got up to 25 full-slips. I'm putting the "doesn't have to be a premium/doesn't have to contain a steelbook" to the test... -
DAILLY The Mission (D'ailly Company) (Steelbook) [Korea]
ethnosax replied to ksosk's topic in Multi Retailer
Wow, I wasn't expecting that that image was going to be the lenticular. Looks great! Anybody know the source of that art? I've never seen it before. -
Very beautiful work, as always, @ksosk! Is the lenticular transition + depth, or just transition? Any ideas on price range for this?
-
I think this should be adequate for the first level. HDZ is so good, and MP is the place to get them. Thanks so much!

Something about Ad Astra next to it?

I find that the more I watch the movie, the less frustrating Crowe is. And really, if you want to know what the two lead parts are supposed to sound like, you can pop in the 10th anniversary concert disc. If the steelbook could be swapped in for the digipak in this set, I'd love that.

It's one of my favorite movies (and hardly "a women's movie," haha), but I'm content with the steelbook. Holofoil seems hilarious for this movie.

Media Psychos Lenticular Edition Award
ethnosax replied to extantsrevenge's topic in Packaging Awards
Here's 25 from me. For the MP extra, I've included the WCL 2001 lenticular. And I also threw in a couple of old DVD lenticulars, for fun.- 356 replies

Thanks for the updates. Waiting for this one is no problem. While we're waiting, I'll just mention to anyone else in the Dallas area that the Magnolia Theatre is showing 2001 on May 28. Always great to see this one on the big screen with a crowd.

Transition plus depth always amazes me. Nice work!

She's apparently never taken a shining to Kubrick.

It's kind of salt in the wound—these posters are used everywhere except as the main slipcover image! haha And I do very much appreciate your using them on the lenticular. Honestly, for me the main thing in this design is having the MEDIA PSYCHOS name as prominent as the title of the film itself. I prefer the more subtle approach of just having the logo in the corner. The logo is unusual enough that I'm sure people who see the card will still ask what in the world it is, which would lead to the site evangelism you're wanting.
-
Sorry if it came across as negative remarks. Meant simply as neutral critique. Nothing against @ksosk. I assumed that he hasn't actually produced these yet, so he might value feedback before finalizing it.
-
One more minor point—since the Media Psychos logo is already in the corner of the lenti, does it need to also be under the title?
-
It is a little weird when we've seen this poster in a certain way for years and years, though. Just kind of feels like it's upside down and backwards, even though technically in space the direction wouldn't matter.

Please, people: don't read 3001. If you want some 2001-related reading material, I highly recommend Michael Benson's recent book, Space Odyssey: Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C. Clarke, and the Making of a Masterpiece.
-
In a way, that almost feels like cheating, though, doesn't it? "Hey, look at this ultra-fancy boxed set of 2001!" "It's, uh, just a plain black box." "Exactly—it's, like, the monolith! Get it?"
-
Umm... as well as it can probably be answered without seeing live pics or holding the actual product in my hands? haha Thanks for investigating. I assume it will all make total sense once we see the in-hand photos.

Agreed. There's some great-looking content inside the edition—I especially love the booklet that looks like it's a collection of behind-the-scenes photos; the postcards are beautiful; and the ID cards are a clever extra—but to me, the outside art is kind of boring. And I don't care for a bunch of unfolding to get to all the discs. (I guess I really am a steelbook guy, through and through!) I'm a little confused about all the parts. So there is a fullslip outer case, and then another slipcase or box inside of that (this is the part I don't understand from the pictures), and then inside that are five separate booklets/folders/cases?
