YOLT? (Lol, in keeping with the title of the movie itself, I might as well try this one again twice in the same day!)

Remake
Thanks for the info— glad this is the remake since Criterion released a 4K version of the 1968 film just last year.

(Jean Rollin, 1997)
Release date: 24 April 2023
Limited Edition 4K UHD (World premiere)
Originally released in 1997, Two Orphan Vampires (Les Deux orphelines vampires) finds Jean Rollin, the master of the fantastique, returning to the vampire genre with which he had made his name.
By day, blind orphans Henriette and Louise seem to be the picture of innocence. But when darkness falls, their sight returns, and they wander the streets of Paris, encountering the city’s strange nocturnal denizens, and leaving a trail of corpses in their quest for fresh blood.
Featuring startling performances from novice leads Alexandre Pic and Isabelle Teboul, alongside Tina Aumont (Modesty Blaise) and Rollin regulars Nathalie Perrey (The Shiver of the Vampires) and Brigitte Lahaie (Fascination), Two Orphan Vampires is a beautiful and melancholy summation of Rollin’s unique and arresting style.

EAN: 5060697923018I may get a lot of hate for this statement, but I absolutely CANNOT believe that Powerhouse/Indicator have chosen this and THE SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES as their very first 4K UHD releases, especially when so many much more-deserving titles languish in the vaults waiting for 4K releases. I mean, COME ON, Powerhouse!!!!

Are these bubbles on the lenti (upper left corner)? Or is it just the light and some reflection?
That looks like slightly-loose shrink wrap to my eyes.

Did you have to pick it up at the store? It looks like Best Buy is having some trouble getting these out.
At my store they have them in stock but you can only purchase them in-store to pick up. You can buy the other steelbook online (I have no clue how/why there are two different steelbooks for this one??)

😨 omg what have I done, I only meant the price sticker on the regular Blu-ray (Rundown and Tropic Thunder). Removing Stickers after such a long time from slips can be very problematic and tricky. I have had to deal with price stickers very often on sealed toy figures when I still collected them. If you have another sticker that is easily removed (I use address sticker) you can carefully tap on a small area with the glue residue and repeat that carefully until the glue staying on the sticker. But on slips there is the risk of damage, it might be possible here.
OUCH. What a bummer. I have found that using a hair dryer on the sticker while still on the slipcase/case; let it heat the sticker for about 10 seconds (sometimes it takes a little longer), but usually the stickers peel right off, and you don't to deal with gasoline fumes (btw, wouldn't Zippo "gasoline" actually be lighter fluid?)

@Veum John Alton is an AMAZING cinematographer! He shot Raw Deal and He Walks By Night, two favorites and many others (even the first episode of Mission Impossible in 1966!) and wrote a great book on cinematography, Painting with Light.

@Manticore4 I also appreciate your list of noir which I watch some and enjoy! 👊 👍 👏
what do you think of this one The Amazing Mr. X? 🧐
I’m thinking of purchasing it as I enjoy John Alton’s cinematography…
(as I bought my 1st John Alton movies recently below)❣️
🧋🍿🎬
Turhan Bey (THE MUMMY'S TOMB) plays the mysterious spiritualist who convinces a beautiful widow (Lynn Bari, ORCHESTRA WIVES) and her young sister (Cathy O'Donnell, THEY LIVE BY NIGHT), that her dead husband is trying to contact her from beyond the grave. Richly photographed by famed cinematographer John Alton (BORDER INCIDENT, THE BIG COMBO), the dark, smoky interiors and fog-swept beaches give this a gothic feel that elevates this B-picture to a favorite of noir fans. Co-starring Richard Carlson, Donald Curtis and Virginia Gregg, with stylish direction by Bernard Vorhaus (BURY ME DEAD); sadly, this was one of his last films in the U.S. before being blacklisted. Also known as THE AMAZING MR. X, the film is mastered from original 35mm elements.
Great movie! You see, I did miss at least one! Cathy O'Donnell (shown in the YouTube thumbnail) is mesmerizing in everything she did (she's in one of my all-time Top 10 faves, They Live By Night). Yes, The Amazing Mr. X is a great movie, too!

Here are my very first two Group Buy items from MP (Jaws UHD Club and Das Boot MAG). surrounding them are a few other premium editions that arrived in the last couple of months (via that most terrible and desperate way to get them: eBay, of course!)
BTW, I do open all of these, whenever possible I just slice open the side to remove the discs cases and booklets, but maybe I should start getting MP sleeve protectors so I can take that shrink wrap all the way off.

@SidewinderThank you very much for taking the time to read my (too-lengthy) introduction! Ha ha, after I wake up this morning I will be happy to compile a list of my favorite noir titles, it’s pretty lengthy! Many of them are fairly obscure, but thankfully most have been released in high definition by smaller companies. Not too many 4K titles out there of noirs as of yet, but that is changing.
I don’t collect every title by all of those niche companies. For example, Vinegar Syndrome especially has more gore and “exploitation” titles, which I’m not into at all.
As I said, I’ll be happy to give you a list of favorites and will do so in a few hours. Thanks again!
