  1. I agree, @Veum. we should treasure and shelter the innocence of our children to ensure a safe transition without traumas into the adult world. Life will shape them to some extent but the core from early years will remain. I was raised by my single mother until I met my father as a teenager. She did a terrific job, with all her flaws, and I can only hope to do the same with my little ones, with all my flaws (which are a few to many, Im afraid!) I think respect, empathy and validation are key. She never discouraged me when I was more drawn to horror stories, for instance, rather than The famous five or Pippi longstockimg (which I think are great kid's readings). She introduced me Stephen King, J.J.Benítez, but also Lorca and Neruda. The rest came naturally: Wells, Lovecraft, Poe, Brave New world, Lord of the flies, Kafka, Cortázar.. By the time I was at highschool my taste for literature and other arts had branched out. But I will always remember watching Night of the living dead or Invasion of the body snatchers with my uncle when I wasnt suppose to. Or The andromeda strain and even the brutal "Who can kill a child?"with my mother. Perhaps thats why I still enjoy sooo much a horror-flick. Hopefully one day I will share it with my own kids, and if the dont care? well, I can always make a deal with the devil... 😋
  2. I grew up with movies like The entity, The exorcist, The changeling and pretty much anything starting with "The" and finishing with me going to bed both mesmerised and scared s**t! I used to make ouija boards and at night I would sneak into the cemetery where my grandpa worked as gate-keeper. My metalhead uncle was a fan of George A. Romero and fed my healthy fascination with satanic messages (supposedly) hidden in songs played backward. So yes, at one point I really was convinced it was possible to get in touch with the devil. The footprint of my childhood is obviously there but I swear I didnt get the Novem Portis hoping to meet a smoke hot, green eyed fallen angel, honest...🙄
  3. My pleasure @Grendel. If I remember correctly I did spend round £200 so the one from the link should be similar quality and Im very pleased with mine. I think you can also choose which version of the book you want (eg. Fargas, Balkan..) which is cool! good luck with your latin!!
  4. Hi @Grendel I acquired the book from a craftshop at etsy. It was years ago (pre-kids era, when I could indulge myself with mundane things like trying to invoke the devil) so I dont remember the name. But you are in luck because there are still some in etsy. Not the same that I had it from but they look really good (better be by that price!) here you have a link https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/707646526/ninth-gate-book-replica-with-original?ref=pla_similar_listing_top-1&frs=1 they ship to eeuu and canada so you are good
  5. Reading Novem Portis in latin is still in my to do list. Problem is everytime Im about to start I end up watching the movie (again) instead 😅
  6. ordered!! great book and fantastic movie. It will join the digibook I owned and my copy of Novem Portis 🤗
  7. Hi @BobaFett1974. I recently joined the MP family and whenever I have spare time (thats barely happens with my two little monsters!!) I try to learn a bit more about this great community and all it has to offer, and today I discovered you!! I had to stop and pay my respects to you. Amazing work!! I SALUTE YOU GOOD SIR!!!
  8. judging by the price of CM titles in ebay and the fact that Joker took less than 1 minute to sold out, I probably dont want it so much as to pay the "little extra" that most likely will reach 😉
  9. I wish more felt that way with Joker release, believe me! 😆
  10. Im the proud owner of some of their great work. With the announcement of The Goonies they hit very deep in my soul. The day (it will come,it will come) that they step forward and bring to live a premium for Willow, that day I will commit my swordman life to defend and wordship CM
  11. I didnt get any WWA 4k steelbook for this, now is the time to "bite"
  12. certainly not. The movie is nothing really special but has J.Deep in it, and the myth of Jack is always an effective lure for me. It deserved better. And after that I managed to missed the much more appealing french release (although not steelbook) 🤦‍♂️
  13. I know the empire is to be blamed, with zavvi been just the Trade federation, but that doesnt make them more likeable, does it? Sadly I only started collecting steelbooks two years ago, so I miss the days of Sleepy Hollow, Goonies, The princess bride, and many others. My memory only goes as far as this, this!!!
  14. mostly because of what could have been...like @extantsrevenge so graphically put it. I mean, after they revealed Episode IV concept I had soo much "hope" for this! And yet again, another "strike" from the (di$ney) empire, $hit**g on the fans. And Im not even a diehard one, but come on, really!!!
  15. Now, that is a real floating pile of horse****, excuse my language. scary!!!
  16. I can see myself in the same path @deckard99. my days as lone wanderer are numbered. after all, despite the looks, im a family man
  17. likely, shortly after I missed The Jocker, I managed to grab a nice lenticular copy of Joker... who am I kidding? (sigh) night terrors, here I come...
  18. I cant afford to miss this one! Happened to me with Jocker (sold out in less than 1 minute in the CM website) and still having nightmares..🤬 MP, Im counting on you!
  19. That's really helpful @romeroland, I appreciate it. 👍
  20. thank you @extantsrevenge! let me see 🤔 a bunch of charming psychos who are willing to expend an irresponsible amount of money for all sort of crap? yep, thats exactly how my wife would describes me. and is one of the few things we'll agree on 😄
