  1. @extantsrevenge the boxset is Solid Metal Nightmares - the films of Shinya Tsukamoto with Tetsuo and Tetsuo 2 being the sci-fi films. I had only intended that box to count as 1. Attached are 2 make-up movies, Electric Dragon 80,000 v which I pulled because in my catalogue system it is near Tsukamoto and Stargate which I recently got in the mail.

Let me know if you need others because…

  2. Challenge 38 - "Are you excited yet?"

My most anticipated movies are Dune 2 (already have tickets for opening night), Furiosa, Deadpool 3, Joker, Godzilla x Kong, Aliens entry and spiderverse (if thats still scheduled to come out in 2024), but I'll go with some wild card selections:

Bob Marley One Love - I'm a huge Bob Marley fan so I am really looking forward to this biopic. I dont know what premium retailer would be a good fit for this release. Maybe Mondo would make a good steelbook but it would be nice to have a booklet and extras with the release so I'll say Arrow. I would honestly be very happy with anything beyond a barebones 4K release.

Mickey 17 - Bong Joon Ho directing, staring Robert Pattinson, curious to see what is coming from Bong Joon Ho after Parasite. I dont think he has directed a bad movie so I am sure I will at least like this entry. I expect this to be a Criterion release.

Nosferatu - another movie I'm excited for based off the director, in this case Robert Eggers. The "trailer" I posted is a fan-made trailer and the release is scheduled for I think Christmas Day. This is another Arrow entry or Second Sight, anything but a bare-bones release like The Northman. I would like to see all of these movies in the theatre but Nosferatu is the one I would most like to see in theatres.

  3. Here’s my submission -

Arrival WeeT - Love the steel, love the slip, love the movie. This release did bump out Predator which is a top 10 movie for me but I think being completely subjective, this is a better release.

EEAAO NM - gorgeous release and I’m happy I went with this one over ML which is not bad by any means. My love of the movie probably bumps it up a little. I think if I had my ML Barbie in hand that release could’ve replaced this one.

The Thing CineMuseum - top 3 movie for me so any premium is basically a lock for my best of list. But it’s still a nice release.

  4. Here is my submission for 2nd stage. Won’t be able to complete a 3rd stage whenever that happens as this is maxing it out for me. I usually cull the collection and am not much of a 1-click collector.

    1. The Thing - this is one movie I would never sell any version of. I’m not a completionist and I’m not going to go out and hunt down the steels I’m missing but I will pick them up if I happen to find them.

    2. Predator - those fac releases are what put me over for this award.

3, 4, 5 - Star Wars OG trilogy - the jewel in my collection would be the Creators Era cases with custom steels from Chrome Custom Steelbooks on IG. Prior to the 4K steels being announced I had resolved to never buy the OG trilogy again until it’s released in its original form. I want Han to shoot first. I want Yub Nub. I don’t want that bull**** they have nowadays. Included are a couple VHS copies, laserdisc and miscellaneous DVD and bluray versions. Ah poop! That reminds me, I have The Thing on laserdisc and forgot to include it! Guess I’m going to have to fine Predator on LD too.

  5. Awwww yeah! New challenges! Thanks @extantsrevenge

Here are my top 3 - I feel like 2023 recap needs to include Prey and Oppenheimer. At least in the US both of these sold out real fast and people were/are scalping them for absurd prices. Prey got a repress but not sure if it’s still available or back to expensive prices. Oppenheimer is still expensive. Lawrence of Arabia was similar and is a downright meme but I think that was originally released last year? I don’t remember. So my third steel is Guardians which I thought was a great movie and an awesome looking steel.

okay I've got a dumb question and a normal one 😅

I've never bought a CE edition before and since this one will have no steelbook - will this be sealed with some sort of sticker on the front like the common sellers?

And will there be a protective case which fits this fullslip?

I think both your questions are normal ones and not dumb.

post edited as it seems my info was incorrect

Manta has become my favorite retailer in the past couple years. I'm not interested in every title they do (especially as they get more into superhero stuff), but they've made some great choices, and their design team is often exactly in line with what I like for the visuals. I'm hopeful they'll be able to do a complete run of Nolan films eventually.

I was thinking the same thing when I was putting together my 10. ML has made some great choices and it’s nice to get non-Marvel premiums.

  8. Do these count? I have some of NovaMedias John Woo movies. Really wish the rights to these movies was squared away and we get legit boutique releases of his filmography. The DVDs and BLUs of Hard Boiled and The Killer aren’t great, I stick to my Criterion Laser Discs of those just for the novelty and little loss of picture quality!

Sorry to hear that.  Mine was out for delivery yesterday but no one home to sign.  Local post office opened 2hrs on Saturdays, so got lucky.   Package was  just on the other side of the country 7/13, so shocked when delivery was attempted 7/14.  Made it from China to my house in 6 days.

Same here! I saw the missed delivery slip and thought, no way it can be the Star Wars Creator Series! Sure enough, tracking number CN....

I made a video of the Star Wars boxset!

In these clips, I tried to describe the planning and production process that went into making this release. The actual item in hand is amazing and hope you all will like it!

If you have any questions, I can address further in the comments here.

    GB is still live!!

    These look amazing! Thank you.

I imagine these are probably going to ship slowly and in waves but, do we have any idea when they will first start to go out?
