  1. Well, the early digital mock-up shots did not look appealing to me at all, so I passed. Ksosk’s latest beauty shots are much more appealing, and I probably would have joined the GB if they had been posted before the GB closed. That said, I have no lingering regret. It saved me $80-100. There will be other premium Interstellar releases in the future, I’m sure, and Interstellar is not a movie I am head-over-heels in love with.

    Is there any serious Westerns?

    Sexy ones again!

    Supernatural/ghost/vampires and the such...

Trigun is the closest anime I can think of to a Western, but I’m not sure I’d call it very serious. There’s also Outlaw Star, but I never got into that.

Also, the original Vampire Hunter D (1985) has a Western feel. The hero rides a cyborg horse. Frontier setting. Plus a vampire, obviously. You can find it on YouTube for free. Other Vampire Hunter D movies/tv shows feel more gothic to me. But, if you want supernatural, that’s a good place to start.

  3. Many years ago, I caught a couple random episodes of Galaxy Express 999 on tv somewhere and thought it was very cool. A year or two ago, I bought the Nova Media release of Galaxy Express 999, which I now gather contains only the first two movies. I still haven’t gotten around to watching it, unfortunately. I guess the tv show come first? I should pick up the tv collection(s).... How many episodes/collections total?

  4. Wow, couldn’t disagree more with Marion Cotillard. She’s one of my favorite actresses, and I’ve admired most of the movies she’s been in. I thought she was exceptional in Inception. I’ll give you TDKR though, but I think she just wasn’t the right fit for that movie.

Hi @DarthEd, that looks fantastic as I’m just getting into Anime! 🎞️

I enjoy Alex Ross’ art a lot! ⚰️

Nice! I have a couple of those Alex Ross Universal Monsters steelbooks myself. I wish I had a couple more, but hoping for a sale price.

  6. Well, I finally got the Gatchaman: Complete Collection. The price on Amazon finally dropped to $65 last weekend, so I jumped on it. The price has since gone back up to $100. This is 15 Blu-ray discs. Beautiful full slip. 48-page Alex Ross artbook. Lots of extras. Looking forward to checking it out and seeing how the series differs from the Westernized Battle of the Planets that I grew up on.

    Science Ninja Team, go!

  7. I didn’t miss out on the G

@DarthEd, so sorry you missed out on the GB... just put an advert in classifieds

    here: Classified adverts Buy/Wanted

No thanks. I didn’t miss out on the GB! I chose the wrong edition because I didn’t know what the final product actually is. This is hardly the first time, and it won’t be the last, I’m sure. It’s just one of the aspects of this hobby that sucks. You can’t judge the quality of a lenticular from “beauty shots,” and “beauty shots” never show off de/embossing. You just have to judge based on previous editions, but it’s a crapshoot most of the time.

  8. Ah, I’m full of regret for not getting the One-Click now. I had no idea the OC slip was going to be sewn material with real snaps. It didn’t look like that from the “beauty shots”. It just looked like a normal cardboard slip, and nobody (that I saw) said it would be otherwise. I hate having to pick editions before seeing the final product. :(
