  1. #1074, #1073, #1059, #1049 | KOR | Molly's Game, John Wick 3 - John Wick 1 | Scanavo + 3x Steelbook (NE #26-28) EAN: 8809427724634, 8809427726157, 8809427726133, 8809427726119 Release date: May 16th, 2018 Region Code: free Paid: 34,23€, 47,24€, 38,53€, 39,04€ Another package just arrived, and this time I remembered, that I used to have this cool headline over my posts, which actually I still like, and even though I am now only showing new arrivals as a group shot, I could still use it. So here we go, today my 1073rd and 1074th blu-ray releases arrived in my collection: John Wick 3, and Molly's Game. Molly's Game I wanted to get a while ago, but getting those as single purchases would just add up crazy on that postage costs, so I waited until I had more that I wanted to order from Nova Media. I've seen the movie and liked it (though it wasn't as good as I expected it to be - my heart is still fully consumed by Chastains performance in Miss Sloan - what a great movie!). Also I started getting the John Wick releases from Nova Media. I loved John Wick from the very first movie, and really wanted to have it on Blu-ray. However, back in the days I couldn't get my hands on FAC releases, and later these where sold out and sold for crazy money. I always had them on my search list, and that was the reason why I didn't get into the first edition on Blu-ray by Novamedia. Regretted it, though. And since Nova is actually continuing the series, which for Filmarena is not a given anymore (they used to complete every movie series, in the past, but lately? Shazam, Joker and Aquaman, but no other DC movies, just Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther and the Spider-Man movies from Marvel, Star Trek Beyond (and none of the others), Pets 2, just "War of the Planet of the Apes", just "M:I Fallout" and "M:I Rogue Nation" - I feel that the passion that Filmarena used to put into these releases has all gone away and they are just a business, that doesn't care what collectors want, and if a release makes sense or not. So I am not trusting them to get us a John Wick 3, I don't believe that I'll ever get John Wick 1+2 for a good price, and so, heavy hearted, I opted for these new 4K WEA steelbooks, which look quiet decently and also fit together well. I do believe, that Nova will continue these and if they do, chances are, that it'll be in 4K (while Blu-ray could become unclair in future). So here we go, the whole set. I waited, till I had them all and now I am excited to open them up
  2. And last but not least: Madhouse. Here I was once more lucky enough to get one of those collectors cards, and again one that is signed by the artworker (and one of my favorit artists, Timo Wuerz). Also, you might know that this label is primary done by Daniel Perée, and if you look into the booklets you'll often find that a lot of pictures are actually from his private collection, which is yet another indicator that this label is done out of passion.
  3. My copy arrived today and I made some pictures for your enjoyment. Unfortnuately I did not get one of these lovely limited cards, so seems like I was too slow to order this one, unfortunately :(
  4. There I was, saying that I would use this thread again more often - not as I used to as detailed pictures thread, but rather a "look what the postman brought"-kinda thread, and then I don't get any post for over two weeks (and even worse - I turn this thread into some kind of back ally news thread ). Enough of that, today finally the post man came to visit me once more, and brought me three different orders (in two packages). I'll go into more detail with one of the package, and the other one, you'll know where to find the detailed pictures of it, later Interestingly, today I also learned that there are two kind of services from DHL - the shabby once that always break my packages, even though they cost 6€/parcel. The once who never ring at my door, or if they do, throw the package with a loud bang into the staircase and run off as fast as possible so they don't have to face my anger, or that do ring and come up, only to tell me that they cannot give me the package because it has a +18 label and I need to get it from the post office (because they are too lazy to do it at the door), or who sign the package themselves without delivering it, and then I only get it four days later. And then there is DHL Express. Oct. 13th, the vendor ships it out, Oct. 14th the guy rings my door. At 7:45 am. Oh, and btw. did I mention that it was delivered by Amazon? In the US? Yep. USA -> Germany, on one freaking day. After an estimation that it would arrive tomorrow. And for a package that went all the way over the big ocean, it's in nearly mint condition. WTF? I had expected this to arrive end of October the erliest. The other package contained some films that I ordered from Wicked Vision - their two newest mediabooks + the third installment in the "Der Fluch der Galerie des Grauens" series. Now while these Anolis titles all have their separate threads, the Friday the 13th doesn't, as far as I know? So I'll just briefly talk a bit about this release in here, because me getting it, is a bit strange for a couple of reasons: I am not a huge fan of Friday the 13th. In fact from all the 70s/80s franchise slashers, I would argue that this is even my least favorite series (considering such other great franchises, such as Halloween [my favorite], The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, Psycho, Childs Play, etc.). There is a Mediabook release of all these Friday the 13th, out in Germany. I detest Amaray packaging, and for a lot of releases I just wait and hope that there'll be anything else in the making: Digibooks, Digipacks, Mediabooks, Steelbooks, Scanavo Cases, Boxsets, Fullslips, ... Now let's start with the third reason - beacause back in the days I didn't care too much about disc content, and rather wanted great packaging. And I never minded Amaray releases on DVD, but I hate this blue translucent look. To me it looks really cheap. Plus most of the artworks look horrible because this blue is competing with the other colors and therefore destroys the intention of the artist. I have changed a bit in that regard, because I learned to value both, the quality that is not always good (during the start of Blu-ray there where a lot of upscale releases out there), plus I learned to value bonus material with background on movies so much more during the last years (as these started to become rare on standard Amaray-Blu-ray releases, compared to standard Amaray-DVDs in the old days). So even if there might be a better packaging, I also way in these factors, and rather go for an Amaray release with a lot of extras than a vanila disc in beatgold packaging with handwritten booklet by the actors themselves (well... maybe not in that case ). Which leads me to the mediabooks. I was excited when I heared about the plans of '84. And again, back in those days, I was rather fond of '84 and gotten my hands on as many releases they did, as I could. I of course knew, that all their releases where rather pricey repacks. But, I didn't care, and I think '84 did do a good job in design, booklet and artwork of these releases, as well as in choice of titles. But once the plans got revealed, I was a bit disappointed. Prices where between 45€ - 50€ per movie, and they didn't get rights to all the movies, "Friday the 13th (1980)", "Jason goes to Hell", "Jason X" and "Freddy vs. Jason" would be missing from the set. But another label got these and promissed to do "fitting" counterparts - of course for the same prices. So you'd be spending 500€-600€ for the set. '84 did say that the licenses where rather expensive and they couldn't do it for a lower price, but they would still make it special though, and decided to go with padded mediabooks and some new and exclusive artwork, and text-free backs as they would come in quater-slips and it would also be three disc sets. Now, if you know me, I hate padded mediabooks Plus, I thought that the artwork, while a funny idea, is pretty cheap and uninspired: Every cover shows the mask that Freddy wears, which basically is the same (with some nuences of course). Backartwork = backside of the mask. That was an easy job for the artworker... To make things even worse, they did not at all work together with the other company, so the only thing the other four releases have in common, was the padded mediabook and the quaterslip. Covers don't match, spines don't match. And even content doesn't match: Instead of 28 pages of booklet, you get 6 lousy ones, instead of three discs you get two, one being the DVD, the other being a blu-ray repack from a dual-disc release: yep, if you get "Jason goes to hell" you get a disk with "Jason goes to hell" AND "Jason X", and you get the identical disk also on "Jason X". And that's for freaking 45-50€s, because the Mediabook is padded. Normally, '84 goes for multiple Covers, plus they sometimes do a second edition, and a couple of insiders knew: There is more comming, so just wait. And I did. Because as much as I wanted these, I did not want to spend so much money on these films, especially if there where a couple of things that mad me really unhappy about them. Instead I wanted standard, non-padded mediabooks, for a "normal" 25€-30€. Hell, I'd even spent a bit more (like 35€) if it was so hard for '84 to get the rights, and everything. But then I also want non-padded with nice artwork. Show a bit of creativitiy and initiative! They did. For 35€-40€, a year later, and in three different artworks, there came the second release. And boy was I excited. There was the Cover D that featured a drawn artwork (I think by Ralf Krause?) that was really stunning. On the paper everything looked great, and I ordered the first of them for the full price (I think I paid 36,99€), but what you got was: A single disc release, missing the DVD copy (that I don't care about) and the extras - and there I finally understood why '84 put all the extras on a second disk, even if there would have been space on one disc. So I cancelled them, and actually later found out that you could hunt them down on secondary markets originally sealed for arround 20€. And so I did. Unfortnuately, a few of them (Part 2+3) are hard to get, and the extremely ugly done parts 1, "Jason goes to Hell", "Jasonson X" and "Freddy vs. Jason" had a so low printing that they actually sold out the quickest, and are hard to get. I even feel that 20€/piece is a bit too high for what you get - it's the movie + artwork and booklet. Which I don't want to disrespect, the artwork of the '84 Entertainment books is really phenomenal, and each edition comes with 28 pages of text and artwork. Then again, there is this slight anger I have about the booklet - the first release uses the first and last page to display additional and alternative/rare artworks, even japanese movie posters wich are so strangely different to what we know. For the unpadded release however, '84 decided to replace these pages with their artwork they used on the padded books. So if you decided you didn't like that artwork, and went for something different, you still get that artwork, and do not get to enjoy the alternative/rare artworks out there. It's just a small thing, but for me it adds up. But we collectors are stupid, and after paying aproximately 150€s on my 6 mediabooks, and being on the hunt for the last 6, that will probably cost twice as much (which I am not willing to pay), there came along this release by Shout Factory, in a absolutely stunning artwork box, that would set me back 150€ as well, but would not only contain all the movies, but also all the extras that I would have gotten with '84 in the padded mediabooks. Plus a lot of new extras and old ones (like audio commentaries) that '84 did not include. Plus, all new 4K masters they used, that are suposedly better than the once included in the mediabooks. Plus" Friday the 13th (1980)" and "Jason Goes to Hell" in two different cuts. Plus "Friday the 13th - Part 3" in 2D and 3D. Plus two additional disks with bonus features that did not fit the movie discs - including the entire "The Friday the 13th Chronicles" that '84 split up into different pieces to put on each of the single releases. And of course an all new 56p booklet - of course the last one cannot measure up with the single 28-p booklets by "Christoph N. Kellerbach", that would add up to some 250 pages in total. But that doesn't bother me. I would have loved to see some spine artwork or alternative cover artwork - but a few of these are actually reversible (with mostly more horrible poster artworks than the ones they chose to feature - but it's a nice gesture though, and I reversed 5 of the 8 reversible covers to show the more "rare" or more beautiful artwork All in all I am pretty impressed, and now the only thing keeping me from enjoying these is my still missing Region A player (yeah... I know... you told me so many times to get one... ). I am currently browsing amazon.com for a decent offer. As for my mediabooks, I am happy to not having to spent any crazy amounts on the four mediabooks that are not worth their money at all, and I'll keep the beautiful artwork ones. And who knows, maybe, if I am lucky, I can still hunt down parts 2 and 3 for a reasonable enough price, then I'll complete my collection of artwork beauties, but I am not in a hurry, nor is it bugging me to not having them all together so I can finally watch them all. Because now I have
  5. One of the things that has many people interested in this release on their toes is the comment that these releases will not have the usual HD quality, which is due to the fact that there are no HD masters available and that scans will be done from positives (which to my understanding would mean the film rolls that go through the projectors at cinemas, doesn't it?). And my translation of it: In the last two weeks I got many questions regarding the picture quality from FBI JAGT PHANTOM. To allow you to get an impression regarding the quality, here are 6 screenshots. But please keep in mind: These pictures where encoded from uncompressed TIFF format into compressed JPG. Also I don't know what "mischief" Facebook adds. And here are these pictures. Not sure if anyone here is at all interested in this release, but if you are, this might be interesting for you, as this release will be the very first and maybe only blu-ray release of this movie.
  6. @extantsrevenge Wow, that's a great set. Didn't even know that existed, but yeah, if you own this release, and want another one to open, I guess the AmasiA Mediabook is a good one to get. I haven't double dipped, so I have no idea, what the booklet text from the Nameless releases is all about, but I feel you get more "bang for the bug" when going with the AmasiA release, though technically just from the build quality the Nameless is superior (thicker cardboard, sewn booklet, thicker paper).
  7. PS: @extantsrevenge if the bonus movie bothers you so much in the "A bittersweet Life"-Release, then there is also this single release by Nameless. You'll pay extra for the missing movie (it's around 30-32€), but therefore it comes in three covers to choose from
  8. Oh, you really think so? I actually love it, when they include a bonus movie - most of these movies that AmasiA includes, wouldn't stand a chance as a single release, as they would be too special interest. For instance one of them contained the movie Frozen Flower as extra, which tells the story of a gay king who is in love with one of his guards, but married to a woman, who this guard is to empregnate for an heir, but then he falls in love with her, and the king feels betraied. It's a rather strange story, with a really slow pace, but impressive scenary and sets and especially bright colors. So strangely it was an enjoyable watch even though I would never have bought this, and I would never recommend anyone else to spent money on it, if it was a single release. But in this bundle it's a great bonus, and adds to my asian movie collection Here is a scene out of it: I'm really sorry for you guys, but yeah, that's a problem with these German releases. However, to be fair, I guess it's much easier and more common to find English friendly German releases, than the other way round, though. Or could you name any German friendly US releases? 😝 But yeah, it always sadens me a bit when I cannot recommend something to you guys, because of the language restriction. Sorry for that
  9. Just wanted to post the same thing the minute I saw it. But who am I kidding: You all already know the stuff the second it get's out
  10. Uuuh, a MantaLab Reward. Nice. One of the few that I can participate in, and that I can participate in with a passion In the beginning I got every release they had. Unfortunately I stopped doing so because there where a lot of corss releases by Filmarena - lately I feel like I should have gone with MantaLab instead of Filmarena. But yeah, you never know, now, do you? Worse than that, I missed four releases (not on purpose) and those hurt even more - I would have totally gone for the "First Man" One-Click release, plus I wanted one of the Inglorious Bastards, Seven and Us, but both I missed the release. Here is my entry, with following wonderful titles - I wasn't sure if the box coutns three, so I went for 25, and just now realise that I miscounted and added 26 "selling units" - but better more than missing one, no? Here we go (left to right, top to bottom) - so that @extantsrevenge doesn't have to count them himself ME#1 - Man of Steel Fullslip ME#2 - The Revenant Leather Slip ME#8 - Logan Special Box Set ME#10 - Alien One Click ME#3 - Constaitine Fullslip ME#4 - Kingsman Lenticular PET Fullslip MG#5 - Independence Day : Resurgence ME#6 - Suicide Suquad Lenticular Fullslip MG8 - Leg Batman ME#5 - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Lenticular Fullslip ME#6 - Fight Club Fullslip ME#7 - La La Land Lenticular Fullslip ME#11 - Wonder Woman Double Lenticular Fullslip ME#13 - War for the Planet of the Apes Fullslip ME#15 - Justice League Lenticular Fullslip ME#17 - Ready Player One Lenticular Fullslip MG#4 Legend of Tarzan MG#7 Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children ME#24 - Aquaman Double Lenticular Fullslip MG#1 - Deadpool Fullslip MG#1 - Deadpool Quaterslip MG#2 - Batman v Superman Full Slip MG#2 - Batman v Superman Lenticular O-Ring MG#3 - X-Men Apocalypse Lenticular O-Ring ME#29 - Joker Double Lenticular Fullslip ME#27 - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Fullslip Still love all of them ❤️
  11. Oh thank you so much for the links. Highly appreciate it. And yes, I am really looking forward to the "... waht you did last Summer" boxset. Probably the one of the modern teeny slashers I've seen the least often, so I would really love to watch them all again, some time :)
  12. So I'll use this thread also for the other covers - I think that makes more sense than opening up a new one (as they will be released in a set, and the coffin release is "Cover D" of that set): Anolis as finally made the announcement and send out the pre-order information to all shops out there, so in the comming days, these will pop up at your favorite mediabook dealer. Demand for these is of course pretty high, and Anolis has asked to preorder as soon as possible so they can plan the demand appropriately (they've probably been overwhelmed by the really fast selling "Frankenstein created Woman" that sold out within hours or even minutes). So you've been asked to preorder now - however the product is not yet finnished, and is postponed as well (given that these should have all come out at the same time, which was planned for Oct. 30th). First of, here are the pre-order links from Wicked-Vision who where once more fastest to post: Cover A, Cover B, Cover C. Price will be 29,99€ as usual, and the new release date is Dec. 12th, however Anolis stated that this might still postpone further, (quote): And my translation: And for all you fans of the nitty gritty details, here you go: There will be two blu-ray discs (unusuall for Anolis, whose one-tray releses I'd rather call "digibooks") containing two different masters. One is an all new master that was created from the 4K transfer, the other one is the HD Master created by Studio Canal. And on the bonus side we get: Audio commentary with Christopher Lee, Suzan Farmer, Francis Matthews and Barbara Shelley Audio commentary with Uwe Sommerlad and Volker Kronz (definately in German) Audio commentary with Troy Howarth Audio commentary with Constantine Nasr and Steve Haberman Documentation: "Back to Black - The Making of Dracula: Prince of Darkness" Super 8mm "Behind the Scenes" footage Trailer, movie programms, picture galery. Rather packed, not so much with documentations and featurettes, but four audio commentaries, including one with the legendary Christopher Lee - that's something to lookk forward to! Booklet will be a bit thicker as well, with 32 pages by Dr. Rolf Giesen and Uwe Sommerlad (the usual) - but this of course is most interesting to those able to read German. I again, went the extra mile and looked up all the other releases out there, and it seems like regarding the extras you'll definately be getting an upgrade: The Studio Canal Disc, that was released in the UK Amaray with Slipcover and also by Zavvi for their exclusive Steelbook just lists the Christopher-Lee Audiocommentary, the Back to Black and the Super 8 footage. There is an additional extra on that "Hammer Stars: Christopher Lee" Old US release is identical to the UK release. New US release by Shout Factory does not have the "Hammer Stars: Christopher Lee" featurette, but instead the "Dracula and the Undead" featurette. It misses the Super 8 footage, but adds the Audio commentary with Troy Howarth All the other European releases (Spain, France, Italy) don't list any other extras than the trailers. So while you always miss one of the featurettes (and we don't know if Anolis is maybe even working on getting one more featurette on this disk?) when going for the Anolis release, you'll alywas miss out one or two of the Audio commentaries (the one with Constantine Nasr and Steve Haberman seems to be exclusive, as far as I can tell?) plus maybe also the super 8 footage. And of course the excellent booklet that will most definately not only contain stills but a lot of "rare" archival pictures and poster wartworks from around the world. So I guess, even if you own the movie in another release, this might still be worth owning (I myself am on the lookout for that Zavvi Steelbook, and I would still get that in addition to Anolis' release). And because we didn't have a trailer yet, I'll close with the trailer - never break with traditions
  13. Part 2: Sorry. I accidentally submitted, before being finnished -.- (Did I already rant about the fact that you cannot edit your posts later?) Friday the 13th - Now as I wasn't able to hunt down all of them yet and a few of them being really expensive, I was ranting about this with a friend recently, and he suggested getting the boxset from Shout Factory, which will have all new 4K masters, in an incredible looking slipcase box with a booklet, and a lot of new extras and bonuses exclusive to this set. Nightmare on Elm Street - This one I got complete. Again it was released as a padded version as well as a non-padded one, both at the same time, both with the same Artwork, and again really beautiful artwork as well as something special you hardly get these days: Spine Images. Really stunning set, and this is still available - didn't sell too well, probably becasue it is a repack of an old set, where the Blu-ray discs had two movies on one disk - so yeah, when you get all of these you have every blu-ray copy twice Plus a DVD copy included as well (as any proper Mediabook ha(s|d)). But it looks incredible... Chucky - Again this one is a bit of a mess, as '84 Entertainment grabbed the rights for the first movie while Birnenblatt was still trying to get licenses for the entire set. D1ck-move if you ask me. Yet, Birnenblatt got the rights to all other Cucky movies (except for the newest Reboot), and they had 2 covers each, one with the classical motive, one with the drawn artwork. At the moment they are trying to negotiate with '84 Entertainment to get the rights for a second relese of the first part after '84 Entertainment did their release in a padded Mediabook (that isn't too bad either - it has a lenticular window with the Chucky face, and looks like the box Chucky comes in). Birnenblatt did also make large Hartboxen of these, with the booklet included. Again I think they did a great job, and I got all of them, except for the first one, which was too expensive for my taste - hoping for a second release by Birnenblatt that fits the artwork covers I opted for.... Now, I am not sure if we are just lucky in Germany, because you guys don't get premium releases of these. But once more I feel like it's not hard to get these movies in premium releases because they are so famous. Chucky, Nightmare, Friday the 13th. Those are titles that sell really well, so labels in Germany are trying to secure rights and get out premium editions, which for us usually means Mediabooks. What I personally miss are those titles that weren't as famous. E.g. I would like to see a "Cube" set, or a "I know what you did last Summer...", etc. There you only get single titles if you are lucky. But I hope that you have now a good starting point to look out for some releases you might not have heard about yet. As usually, in Germany these are famous and discussed quite intensively on Websites, Social Meida, etc. But as usually, German companies are only targeting the German market. I guess, this has multiple reasons and License argreements might be one (given that IP owners want to license them to every country individually so they get the most out of their IP). Another one unfortunately is what you already talked about: In Germany it is rather impossible to sell anything that is not German. This is in drastic contrast to some of our neighbouring countires (such as Denmark or the Netherlands) where it is totally normal to have movies and series broadcasted in English with German subtitles. But in Germany, if the booklet is English, or the movie has to be seen with subtitles, it won't sell, so no one touches it. Bad for labels who would wish to sell internationally (which a lot of our labels easily could given the quality of the products), and I fear that these smaller labels will die out sooner or later as to the overall shrinking physical media market. We are too commodious in that regard - given that we have excellent dubbing (probably the best in the world - which is a blessing AND a course - it's rather expensive, so noumerous movies that are special interest never get released in Germany at all - I have probably 80% of my Japanese Movie collection imported, as there is no release in Germany, but in UK you can get them in Japanese audio with English subtitles) no one wants to be "bothered" with English even though nearly everyone understands and speaks it, as it is a mandatory class in schools.
  14. Uh... I guess we've been lucky in Germany, because those titles you mention, we got as Mediabook releases, some of them just currently: Halloween - This is probably the worst situation. Halloween was released before I was into collecting Blu-rays (I still hunted for DVDs when this got released and I didn't realize it). There was a Mediabook-series from different labels all contributing to have a more or less similar design. There is a second release but that is somewhat strange as it is only for abonnoment customers of a certain shop and you only get it, when you've gotten the once released before, all rather strange - and also they only did a couple of them and nobody knows if the rest will follow. So here I would really also love to see a new premium release as well: Friday the 13th - This was a huge deal, 84 Entertainment got right to most of the parts, and the ones they didn't get the rights for they asked the other studio to partner up. There was a padded Mediabook relese which was rather expensive and in my eyes from the design perspective rather uninspired, but it was pretty popular. A year later '84 Entertainment released three additional covers in normal Mediabooks and the other label did it's own covers, to cache in (with hardly any efforts on their side regarding package and content - but at least for the first time you could get all of them in Germany). One of those three looked really spectacular in my opinion: These pictures don't show all releases of course - I couldn't find any complete collection, unfortunately. But there where even companys who started making boxes for these (only the padded ones), incuding the documentary and the soundtrack on Vinyl, etc. So yeah, rather huge, in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. EDIT: AAAAH SORRY - I WASN'T FINISHED YET! AND GIVEN THE SMALL TIME WINDOW TO EDIT THIS, I'LL SPLIT IT INTO TWO PARTS! SORRY!
  15. But what exactly are you looking for with these classics? Beacuse there where already these Steelbooks with the Alex Ross artwork - I think even in the States, where they not? I got those in a boxset from Zavvi collecting all the Steelbooks (Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon). And then the very dear @Veum also got me the Versions you have in the States, with these awesome Glow in the Dark Slipcovers. And then there are Cofin-Boxets, a Boxset with miniature busts, and many others. So these films are out there on Blu-ray, which makes me wonder, what in particular you are searching for? This is why I would love to see something different - as a completionist I miss all the related movies, e.g. with Dracula, for instance, I would love to see a Dracula box, and I hope by Turbine in the same manor that they did the Invisible man, containing the movies: Dracula Dracula (Spanish Version) Dracula's Daughter Son of Dracula House of Dracula And same for the other titles During the 20s - 50s, there where probably 30-40 movies all revolving arround our 5 monsters. I think it's a shame that only the first, the original classics get all the attention, and the rest is lost. And that's why I love the Turbine box so much, as it houses not only all the movies, but also the parody with Abbott and Costello.
  16. Let's do another News/My Future Releases post, and again for my Wicked Vision fanboys (@Veum and @Grendel ). Here is the most recent post from Wicked Vision: My translation: And the picture: WHAT A TEASE! Spoileralert! The two titles with the given year are easy to solve, given that there is a Wikipedia entry vor every year containing all the movie titles released in that year, so just pick the ones that fit best into the given letters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_in_film#S - starting with S... and ending with ...k, this has to be Stick, an American crime film by and with Burt Reynolds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_in_film#D - starting with D.... and ending with ...(e)y, this has to be Death Valley, a slasher film from the US. But the rest? Pew... I only have two guesses: The Man who Laughs (1928) - wouldn't have expected this from Wicked Vision, but given that Eureka is releasing this title on Blu-ray in UK, it would make sense, that Wicked got the licenses for Germany (we've seen this with some Indicator titles and Anolis - once there is a HD master available for one of these classics, they hit all the countries more or less the same time). What is also irritating is of course, that it's a 1928 movie wich at first glance does not fit Wickeds portfolio at all. However, given they used the hashtags #goldenhollywood #klassiker and #blackandwhite, it seems fitting. And they already did one movie that did three movies that did not fit their usual cataloge at all, and released them separate from their main releases as #scanavo, one of them a 1932 black and white movie (The Most Dangerous Game). Nightmares (1983) - This title would fit Wickeds portfolio, but it's just a guess given the beginning Night... and the ending ...s. Do you have any further ideas and guesses? What do you think about my guesses? Any movie that interests you, or any movie you wouldn't want to get? I know myself, I'll probably go and get all of them, and if it is just to support their good work. I almost got the Eureka edition of "The Man Who Laughs", but now I'll wait for Wickeds possible release on that one.
  17. Yeah, unfortunately DreamScape is not part of the.... wait what? 15€s regularly? Wow. I paid more. But it is a nice release though, so: Go for it!
  18. Btw. if you are curious about what I got from the fall sale (having most of their "premium" releases already at home) :
  19. Oh, nice to hear that this tip was helpful for you. Let us know if everything arrives in good condition, will you? For Germany, Turbine always packs quite well. Unfortunately, DHL in my city is the worst (instead of carying packages from the post to the car, I once saw them, one staying in the shop and throwing the packages on to the street while the other one picked them up from the street and threw them into his car!!!). They manage to break things even if they are perfectly packed. But my last package from Turbine came in a cardboard box and inside the Movies where all spearately wrapped with bubble wrap. So at least on the side of Turbine you cannot find anything to argue about. And yeah, I've been waiting for similar boxes on the other monsters as well. A box for each monster collecting all movies in that monster-series as they have done with the Invisible Man would be so great. Unfortunately the Invisible Man does not seem to be selling well enough, given that they still have copies left, and I've got this a year ago for the same price (plus it was offered even a bit cheaper on another sale that I unfortunately missed). But yeah, they do really beautiful releases, and I am always happy to read their name when there is a new release announced for one of the movies I like. Just check out their "The Thing", "Psycho", or their latest "Werewolf in London" releases out. Just crazy, the amount of detail and love they put into both packaging & extras, as well as the content on the discs.
