  1. Didn't expect anything else from you, my friend. All the good movies you already own! My collection on the other hand..... 😅 I'm really looking forward for this one, to be quite honest. Haven't seen it yet, but heard so many good things that I cannot wait to finally being able to watch it :)
  2. Release: April 30th, 2021, original release Date: Link (Wicked Shop): Cover C Price: 29,99€ Limited: 333 Remember, how I always use to say, that I own everything from Wicked Vision EXCEPT their Jean Rollin Collection? Also remember, how I praised Wicked Vision for teaming up with Timo Würz. I feel like Daniel knew the second fact and heard the first one and said: "Hold my beer". The result, well: Wicked Vision is re-releaseing "Sexual-Terror der entfesselten Vampire" - which is one of the most horrifying title translations that you can think of, as the literal translation of the German title would be: "sexual terror of the unleashed vampires", whereas the original title "Le Frisson des Vampires" would actually mean "the thrill of the vampires". Anyhow, it's probably more fitting, as the trailer already suggests that in the case of the movie, vampires means female vampires, and - typical for french movies? - these female vampires run around naked, bade in blood and are attracted by other female vampires. Well... This is not my movie, then again, I had a talk with Daniel and at the end of it, it just happened. I ordered it anyways. 🙈 Few thinks to note about the author, the film, and this release: Jean Rollin (1938-2010) was a french director and screen writer that created a lot of surrealistic movies, with a special focus on vampire films. These movies where the foundation of his career. They often have some kind of erotic component and naked females in them, which is why in the 1970s he soon was labeled and reduced to being a "Vampire-Sex-Movie" director, which according to some is unfounded and unfair. He is the director of the first ever french vampire movie (Le Viol du Vampire), as well as the director of the first ever french gore film (Les Raisins de la Mort). Growing up as a child of a theater director he came in touch with the theater scene quite early and soon also developed a taste for American Low-budget movies. His interest for surrealism could be explained by his early on friendship with Goerges Bataille, who worked as a librarian but became famous as a philosopher, as well as for his surrealistic poetry and prose. However, under different pseudonyms, Rollin also created a couple of hardcore movies. Rollin was most active in the 70s where he created half of his credited work (and the major share of his pseudonym works that also included some feature films). His last film was the 2009 movie "Le Masque de la Méduse", that was released a year before his early death due to his long struggle with cancer. Le Frisson des Vampires was released in 1971 and is the third mainstream work of Jean Rollin. As with the two predecessors and the film that would follow it, its a Vampire movie. It is to this day one of the rather unknown movies, though some critics would coin it one of Rollin's defining films. It's one of these "you either love it, or you hate it" films. General consensus seems to be that the movie is rather slow paced and bad in acting as well as in its effects. For a vampire movie there is extremely much naked skin, lesbian seduction and a lack of fangs and actual vampire action (e.g. flying, blood sucking, etc.). Also the story is rather dull. Where viewers differ is if this is actually a good thing or a bad one. Fans of the movie would argue that it has great visuals, a great atmosphere, wonderful gothic sets and a surrealistic dream like quality to it, saying that this movie actually turns all its negative aspects into something aesthetically pleasing. People who hate it will say that it is boring, dull and ridiculous (in a bad way) for its bad acting, bad narrative and absurd usage of music. Thus, on most movie-rating websites such as IMDb, the movie is rated somewhere around 5 out of 10 points. Daniel himself lured me into getting this, by describing the movie as a film that simply is fun to watch, but even if the film is too trashy one would appreciate the German cut and the acompanying audio commentary, as it shows how crazy the 1970s where in Germany where Germany was quite busy re-cutting movies to fit them into the 'train station cinema'(*). Wicked Vision released this movie as on of their very first productions in 2016, and it was the beginning of their first "side series" beside their "main" series being the "Wicked Vision Collector's Edition", i.e. this release also marks the No. 1 release of the "Jean Rollin Collection" by Wicked Vision. It was originally released on August 29th, 2016 and came in two different cover artworks: Cover A was the original french movie poster, cover B is the rare Italian movie poster. The release has two different cuts, one is the original french cut (95 minutes), the other the German cinema recut (81 minutes), which was said to be lost, but actually Wicked managed to secure a copy (especially the dubbing), and added it as bonus to the Blu-ray (this cut is missing on the DVD copy that was also included in this set). There is the typical 24-page Booklet by Pelle Felsch (in German), and on the discs you'd get: Introduction by Jean Rollin Audio commentary by Jean Rollin Audio commentary by Christian Keßler & Pelle Felsch [most probably in German] Short movie "Liberta" by Jean-Nël Delamarre "Rouge Vif - Nervenkitzel der Vampire" featurette Trailer Picture Galery Deleted scenes Audio commentary for the German cinema re-cut by Pelle Felsch, Daniel Perée and Ludger Holmenkamm [most probably in German] Interestingly, the movie itself will feature three audio tracks: the original French one, the German dubbing AND the English dubbing as well. And there was a large number of subtitles: German, English, Danish, Finnish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portugese, Swedish and Spanish. Marking the movies 50th birthday this year, and given that the release is 5 years old and long-time sold out, as well as the fact that due to the pandemic Wicked wasn't able to continue the Jean Rollin collection at all the last year (they couldn't produce any bonus material in France, plus under the condition of the pandemic producing dubbings is financially not feasible), Wicked decided to re-release the movie. Not for the moneys sake, but because a lot of people only discovered this lable quite late, and while a few of the later Rollin titles where still easier to get, this one is rather hard to secure (at least if you are not willing to pay figures in the hundreds for it). Therefore Wicked decided to make this really small re-release, just 333 copies (original had 1000 + 500 copies for covers A and B), and to make it "special" with a newly comissioned artwork by Timo Würz. I of course asked Daniel, if he'd be planning to release all the other Rollins (possibly all with Wrüz' Artwork) as well, and he honestly answered, that they cannot tell. They'd probably like to, but it is not planned for now and depends on a lot of things, so I wouldn't count on it - just for those considering to get it as an introduction to the entire collection. I'll link the English trailer, as it is cut in a way that is totally free of naked skin It still has a age restriction warning, probably due to all the blood spilling and drinking. But other than that it is really harmless. What do you think about the movie? Would you get it? Do you know it? (*) the German "Bahnhofskino" is something that doesn't exist anymore. These Cinemas where located directly at or sometimes even in the train station, and are comparable to the US "Grindhouse" cinemas, in them showing mostly low-budget B-movies. However - and this is where they differ from the Grindhouse - they also showed (softcore and sometimes even hardcore) pornographic movies, and to top it off, it was also a "news cinema". Strange mixture, probably to entertain people waiting for a train with some really shallow pictures that whern't too captivating to risk audience missing their train and where you wouldn't mind at all stepping in or out of the movie somewhere in-between.
  3. PS: Which of the covers did you get? I opted for Cover B, as I liked that it was a drawn cover (I am a sucker for drawn covers, they always win my heart over). I like the A one for its much better use of color, but I actually hate those collages where you have different scenes of the movie all smashed together. Even though they are the original covers (which I highly appreciate!) I'd rather see them in the booklet and a cool really rare exclusively and newly commissioned artistic artwork on the outside. But yeah, that's just me I know a lot of people love the retro-style packaging, and I do get why they do I think I would be drawn to them as well, if it was the cover I grew up with, but most of these movies where long before my time, to be honest.
  4. Hi Ingojira! Yes, this is know, and in the past I used to also research all the cover artworks I did not know, just to add that information in the texts as well. The reason I am not doing that anymore is simply that I don't find the time, and that I feel that if I do, the time is rather "wasted" because not many are interested in these releases here anyway. From the few that I know that are interested, some wont buy it, because of the all German booklet, others already invested in Box sets like the releases of PowerHouse Indicator from UK, or many of the US releases, and so they are only interested in selected titles. That's why my rather lengthy presentations of the releases and movies did grow smaller and smaller in the last months. But you are always welcome to add additional information like this. This is really appreciated (at least from my part :) ). Thanks! :)
  5. Hello, friends of the Hammer Horror there is an update for this one! Release: April 30th, 2021 Link: Cover A, Cover B, Cover C, Cover D Price: 29,99€ Link as always is for the Wicked Vision Shop, as I feel they cater best to international needs, but of course it is available on may other German Mediabook sellers as well (e.g. Pretz Media, BMV Medien, etc.). Anolis made four covers, because according to them this is the second high requested movie after "Dracula: Prince of Darkness". This might be an indicator for this one selling out fast, so if this is interesting to you, you've been warned Also, I am still lacking the list of extras here, so here you go: Audio commentary with Dr. Rolf Giesen [most probably German] Audio commentary with Uwe Sommerlad & Volker Kronz [most probably German] Audio commentary with Steve Haberman and Constantine Nasr [most probably English] Documentary: "The Birth of Hammer Horror" [English] Documentary: "David Huckvale on the Music" [most probably English] US + German Trailer German title sequence "Trailers from Hell" with Joe Dante [most probably English] Super 8 Version of the movie Picture gallery Not sure, which of these are exclusive (and not enough time to check) - if you do, please share with us Are you getting any cover? I was torn between Cover C and Cover D, and in the end opted for Cover D, because it has the main actor (Peter Cushing) on it. But I also really love Cover C as well. This is a hard one to pick.
  6. Hey guys! Maybe a moderator/administrator can update these info in the first post: Release: March 19th, 2021 Link: Cover A, Cover B Price: 29,99€ Wicked Shop is just one example where you'll be able to get it, but since now even international buyers have made good experiences with Wicked, so as usually I'll link them. Interestingly, this time Anolis chose to go with both titles. Next to the German "Ufos zerstören die Erde", we get the English Title Gorath as well (which is near to the Japanese original: Yōsei Gorasu; translated to "Omnious Star Gorath"). Will you pick this up? If so, which cover will you choose? International buyers be aware though: This only comes with Japanese original soundtrack, or German dubbing, and only includes German subtitles. Not English friendly, unfortunately I myself picked out Cover B. Both are not nice, in my eyes, and while I really like the colors of the first one, I like the more original title on the second one, and also that it is a drawn artwork not a cheap photoshop montage.
  7. Ignoring all the Groupbuy procedure questions (as I cannot answer them, because I live at (or rather in) the source, so to speak, I can however share this info: "Better Watch Out" is still available in all cover variants in diverse shops (just e.g. Pretz Media). "Get Out" however is MediaMarkt/Saturn exclusive, so you can only order it via those pages, and unfortunately Cover A (most favoured one) was already sold out before the release date. Cover B and Cover C are however still available. Just regarding the A one there is no chance, other than crazy private high reseller prices.
  8. In general, I agree with you. To be quite honest, I've watched it a while ago, and have forgotten most of it already :D I liked the general Idea of the Virus being invented in a Family home by some random scientist in his cellar and escapes by some home invaders. However, that's about all good that can be said about this movie. The family was so badly palyed, so random, not at all did I believe that these actors had any bond at all. Yet, everything was so cliche. The brutallity of the invaders was also over the top and not at all believable, and the characters did not behave at all in their characters - there where so many character breaks that where simply unbelievable. E.g. take the rape scene at the end, that just came out of the blue. WTF? So in the end I'd say: Great potential in the idea, that totally gets lost in the realization which focuses on being over-the-top brutal, instead of spending the time in developing believable characters. Bad writing, bad acting. I cannot really recommend the movie. So sorry for sharing it - but as you know, I always only share things here, that I actually buy, and this was not different. I regret it a bit, though :D
  9. Wow, that's definitely a great box and a great price as well. But given that this might probably be Region A locked and I still didn't manage to get a Region A player (yeah, yeah, shame on me - but to be honest, I am not willing to pay crazy prices on voided warranty Germany Blu-ray players that might not work the minute they get an update, and currently it's impossible to get something from the US due to Corona. I was hoping for some cool and cheap black Friday sales offer, but well... you all know what's going on in the world, currently ), I might not be trying to get one even though the bundle looks superb. But same thing: Not even sure if I could get one if I wanted (plus I am lately really frustrated not managing to per-order certain release anymore due to bots and sellouts in the first 30 seconds, that I am starting to loosing the fun in collecting, entirely). But enough of that wining. If it would have been released somewhere around here, I would most definitely have gotten it, even if I didn't like the package. But the value you get - and as far as I know none of these titles have been released around here (maybe UK, but mainland Europe?). And with all that bonus material: A real treasure box! I am always astonished at how fluently Lee was able to talk in so many different languages. I don't talk much french, but even I can appreciate how fluently and good he must be speaking that language. A true genius, through and through (and one of the very few people that made it into the 21st century but could even look back to a personal meeting with Tolkien - another one of my idols).
  10. This was really disappointing. I wanted to get it through MP, because I thought this might go fast, but I was too late for MP, so I said: Well, I manged all the last times. So I was logged in everywhere, I was ready, reloaded the second it was online, went through the entire checkout, even processing PayPal, and only on the last page, after returing from PayPal did it say "sold out". I am really really pissed at this being even possible; think of it figuratively: If I was at a real counter, someone else had figuratively speaking stolen it right out of the hands of the cashier, just the second before I gave her the money. Really frustrating. And of course all the ******* are putting it 3-4x the price on eBay, right now. Just takes the fun out of collecting these things, entirely.
Was würdet ihr tun? Leider sind diese Boxen auch immer schnell ausverkauft, und dann unbezahlbar teuer :(
  14. Well that was to be expected: Wicked is sold out. There is another shop, that is already carrying them: verleihshop.de. However they are a bit more complicated (you need to first send them money for your account via PayPal, and only when they register the money, can you then spend it on the shop, and apparently they advertise it to be with no shipping costs, but at the checkout it always calculates shipping costs, which they now reacted to, and promised that they will refund it to you... seems to be a real fuzz). And I have no idea about international shopping with them. I can try to keep you posted on other shops, when I see that they add it, but please don't rely on me with this one and keep your eyes open as well.
  15. I CAN FINALLY REST IN PEACE ONCE I DIE!!!! Today morning, Anolis finally announced their release info: Release date will be February 19th, release information will be send out tomorrow to all shops, so that it should be ready for pre-order mid of next week. Well, usually Wicked will be the first to announce that they already have it in their store, so this morning I spent a couple of hours refreshing the shop, but no release. So at noon I contacted the label boss, and he told me, that it'll be in stock probably tomorrow morning. Now, at 2 o'clock he wrote me another message that woke me from my sleep And FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY I could order it: The last title that was missing in my Anolis Hammer Horror collection. Still can't believe it. But now I'm going to bed. Before I do - if you wanted this, please be fast, there is a rumour, that it might be just 400 copies, Anolis just upped the number of copies to meet the number of copies of all the other releases they put out. Here is the link, if you want to order via Wicked Vision: https://www.wicked-shop.com/de/das-gruene-blut-der-daemonen-limited-mediabook-edition-cover-b.html
  16. News from Birnenblatt And for you English guys my translation: Not sure what to make of it - to me it seems that they misstrust the shipping of MediaMarkt/Saturn? We'll see when it finally gets here. They also included a new picture of the Mediabooks. Enjoy:
  17. I'm soo sorry! 😅 Hope you'll manage to track one down, best of luck for that! Thanks I love it as well. Yes, I think so, too. Even the most stunning Steelbook has a hard time comapring to this. But that's just for now - let's see what Manalab will do with the one click and how it will look in hand. I have great confidence in what they do, so let's see.... Oh, but of course - I'll never post a non-Steelbook never again. I'll promise 😇😈😇 And THAT is why I post these I so often overlook editions and never know what exists. I'll of course always check those databases (we have the German bluray-disc.de one, plus of course the more extensive blu-ray.com) but they also don't show everything out there. So many times I get surprised by something I never even know existed. And congrats to hunting it down for 120€. That was the original price of it. Just checked it in my Excel list, I paied 119,99€ when pre-ordering it on July 2017. So that was a really great deal you manage to get. It hardly ever happens, once things get OOS these days....
  18. I wouldn't say I am - I was just irritated and was wondering, what you intended to say. Most people also don't collect Hammers, or prefer Amarays, still we've also seen people share their replicate Drive Hammers and Amarays of the movie in this thread. I just wanted to chime in with the release I find most attractive because it's something different (as is the OC which I also mentioned). Just if anyone is interested and loves to see what else is out there, that's all. So I found it rather aggressive to get an answer in "telegram style" saying "no steelbook. but that's what we collect". But maybe I've misread or misjudged your intention. I just love seeing pictures of other peoples collections and love sharing mine. If I had more time, I'd probably had just opened a separate thread but seeing how the discussion here also already included pictures of other releases, I just joined in And yes, I know what the majority of this site likes most, I've been rather actively reading and posting this forum for the last three years now - still no one ever before groused about something not being a Steelbook, which is why I didn't get what you wanted to say (i.e. just because it's not a steelbook you think I shouldn't post it?!) I love collecting all different kind of releases. A Steelbook can be absolutely stunning and beautiful, but focussing on collecting just one package type makes a collection rather dull and uninteresting. Some of my favorite editions are Steelbooks, but I also love Fullslips (regardless if with Steelbook or Scanavo Keepcases), Digipacs, Digibooks, obviously also Mediabooks, and anything that is special in any way. And I love seeing others share their editions with us as well. At least for me that's what forums have always been all about: Sharing the beauty of editions and the passions we have in collecting them. That's all what I've been doing the past years and that's all I wanted to do in here as well.
  19. I know and never said something different, did I? So I shouldn't post about anything else, or what are you planing to say? I just shared my opinion on this release. I am not too excited about the Steelbook, at least from the renderings it is not my favorite. Since today I haven't seen a Steelbook that is better than the one Mondo X did. Which is why I wasn't too excited about this title. Then I saw the Fullslip and thought to myself: "Wow. That's something I've never seen - I want that one!". And now, I'll rather have the OC, if I could get one. If I can't, well, that's live. And there are releases that I'd rather get, that I think provide more "value" for me
  20. Reading about this I actually wasn't too psyched, as I already own three copies of the movie, plus there is still one version I am on the lookout for (the Mondo X one), and though the movie is really good it is not my favorite movie, where I need every copy ever made. So, when seeing the first pictures, I decided to go with the Full Slip, as this is something really stunning, and something never seen. BUT reading about the OC, I now changed my plans 🙈 I'll try my luck in getting the One Click via the website (I usually always buy directly, and seen that you are already contemplating if you actually can secure enough copies, I guess you'll be happy that I don't add on your burdens ). I always order directly wherever possible just because then it's less of a hassle, fewer points where something could go wrong and if something does, I can solve it directly without involving third parties. But that's just me Anyways, I digress. What I actually wanted to share with you, is why I believe that I already own the best of the best you could get for this film: It's the One-Click box from Birnenblatt, it has 3 different Mediabooks, all with never before seen artwork, the Box itself is stunning, and the star inside is the padded Mediabook - the first and only padded Mediabook I absolutely love and where I think padding makes sense. Oh, and it also includes the Soundtrack on CD, which is another plus for this release
  21. Haha, as usually, the first to reply Thank you for the lovely feedback. It's always nice if the work you put into something get's appreciated, and it's so much more fun doing it None taken! I totally get that, and I guess I'd feel the same in your position. Let's put it like this: I also often buy Asian releases, and when there's a booklet that's just in the native language I am also a bit disappointed. However, those editions normally make up for any insufficiency (i.e. exclusive and stunning steelbook artworks, beautifully designed fullslips, cards, etc.). I don't care at all if it's English, as I can understand it, and I'd also be intrigued if it was en francais, quoique mon francais est tres mal. Y tambien hablo un poco espanol. But yeah. If the edition was so great that I'd love having it, I'd go for it and scan it, run text recognition on it and feed it to Google, I guess. But if the text is important to you, then these are definately not the best releases to get, as the rest of the package is not as special compared to something like the above mentioned asian releases. So I totally get where you are coming from! And I'll promise to try my very best
  22. I've been a bit more quiet the last weeks, mainly due to the typical seasonal stress (I did some photos though, but never got around posting them, from all my updates from December), and this year I am working on a new project and putting lots of my free time and energy into it, so I'll have to slow down a bit on presenting you editions. But I feel for the vast majority this won't be such a loss anyways, I know there are some fans of the Wicked and Anolis releases and I'll happily keep you up to date on anything new in that regards. But most of my other posts are rather overlooked anyways - which is of course fine - I am aware that I am talking about a nieche and I am doing it in a forum that mostly accomodates people collecting current mainstream titles of blockbusters that get released in 5-10 different premium releases So no hard feelings, or anything. It's just, that I feel like it's a waste of time, if I put that much effort into titles that hardly anyone is interested anyways. So, I'll try out something new 1.) I wont post too many news anymore, just the ones I know that other people are excited about, or the ones that I am really excited about. It's a bit different to what I did before, which was trying (and the emphasis is on trying) to present every premium edition that I would be getting. That's what I was trying to do with all my posts in the Mediabook, Special Edition, Steelbook, etc. sections, if they weren't already posted by someone else (which for most of the super duper Filmarena/MantaLab/NovaMedia/etc. is hardly ever the case, but as not many people collect the Mediabooks and other special packages, I always had more than enough time spent in those forums). And maybe I'll also shorten the format, though I really love having all the information in one place (both, about the release [including info about all the bonuses and how the release compares to other international releases], as well as the movie, and why it's worth a watch), but looking these up, getting all the trailers, plus the information on different releases and translating all the info we got from the label plus including links to the shops and also find and add high res cover artworks - it just takes ages to compile. 2.) I also won't post all my updates anymore, in this place. I used to in the old German forum, and I tried to do so here, in the beginning as well as with a bit more focus last year. But again, it just takes too much time, and I already shortened the format here, but that also still takes too much time. So sorry for anyone who is seriously following my posts in this thread - but again, just judging from the reaction, it's not more than ~5 people anyways, so probably for the vast majority no loss. And I can really put this freed up time into good use for my new projects (and just in case you are wondering: (1) I need some me time Yeah, that sound's cheesy, I know, but having been to hospitals or doctors the last half of a year at least once a month, you start evaluating things, and start putting your focus on different things, like living healthier, loosing weight, and (2) I have a HUGE list of things I always wanted to try out and/or learn, but never "got around to doing", so for this year I've decided I want to focus more on these things and the first thing I am trying out is YouTube [however it is not movie related, but rather a "me losing weight and sharing my wisdom vlog" (and in German)]). HOWEVER, movies are my passion, and collecting things is my passion, and so naturally collecting movie editions and talking about them in great detail is something that my heart still beats for, so I won't be gone ore anything, it will just be more concentrated on fewer things. And for this post to finally get back to movies, I am going to talk about a label that I've already discovered years ago, that does some really awesome editions, but that hasn't been talked on this forum to this day! And I think it's a shame, so I am changing this, because today I received another order from them including four movies - normally I would open up a thread for each movie and pull out all the information on the release, the other releases, the movie, etc. plus add all the information on the label and what to expect - I am not doing this, but rather just present you the label here, tell you what makes them special, and list the movies (plus pictures) that I bought. So let's stop the wining and get to it, then: BILDSTÖRUNG is a German label that was founded in the last decade, and had their first release (if I am not mistaken) in 2008. From their first release on they started with a mission, which was to not concentrate on the mainstream, but to look at the movies on the edge, movies that where told differently, that experimented, that tried to develop new styles and that had their own vision of what film could be and what film is capable of. These movies, in the definition of the label, disturbed the homogeneous picture of mainstream that just presented things that the majority wanted to see, which is why Bildstörung chose it's name - it can be translated as "image interference". In their catalogue, that in the past 12 years grew to 37 releases, they totally concentrated on these movies, movies that where ahead of their time, and that - by sheer existence - even sometimes managed to direct the mainstream into a different direction. Or so they say What's interesting about this label is that from the beginning on, they understood how different they where and tried to portrait this individuality in their releases, not only by collecting some of the most outstanding movies from around the world, but also by how they presented them. The releases in their collection are called "Drop Out", and bear a spine number, each Release comes in a Fullslip-like thin slipcase, but even in 2008 they already understood what collectors like, so the slipcases themselves come with something that can be best described by "dust jackets" like you have them with books. These dust jackets have all the nastiness like the blue stripe you'd had to have, or the FSK logo, amongst other things, while the Fullslip remains absolutely clean in artwork, and looks stunningly beautiful. In GERMANY! As soon as 2008!!! While others where printing the FSK seals on their slipcovers!!! But that's not all: These Slipcases open in the wrong direction, i.e. when you face the front cover upwards, the opening is on the left. If you know Blufans, it's exactly the same thing. Inside you always get a clear transparent DVD-sized Amaray. G1, from the beginning, up till now. The Coverartwork inside is often a large scenary image, or some portraits, etc. and just that, no text, or anything. Therefore if you open those up, you ALWAYS get a booklet that makes up for the missing text on the Amaray cover. And it's always (as far as I know) a dual disk set, sometimes even three disks, but always the second disk is a bonus disk, sometimes even a Soundtrack. After their first 10 movies (Tras el Cristal, Bad Boy Bubby, Marquis, ¿Quien Puede Matar a un Nino?, La Bête, Possession, Overlord, Valerie, Arrebato, De bruit et de fureur) they switched to Blu-ray, with their first release in 2011: "Clean, Shaven". They conntinued their line as if nothing happened, only that now you could choose between a DVD or BD-release, that basically look identical with the only difference being the Discs (of course) as well as the dust jacket design to distinguish them. Two of their old releases have gotten a BD-release as well (La Bête and Possession), the others we don't know if it'll ever happen. However if the release sells out, Bildstörung (in the past) has released so called "budget" versions, that would just include the Amaray with the main movie disk, without the extras for a much cheaper price (10€ vs. 20€ for the first pressing) with a reversible cover (without all the nasties on it). Oh and one more thing: If you order with them directly, you'd usually also get some goodies (as long as they have them on stock): High quality photo-postcards, or poster artwork postcards, sometimes even foto-quality high-gloss cards. And as you maybe have already seen: Their movies come from all around the world. You'd get movies from Czech, Russia, Hungary, France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Greece, Belgium, Italy, India, Serbia, the Soviet Union - yes, even countries that do not longer exist. There are of course a lot of movies that look totally strange, so I never got into digging in on everything they have, but I found some movies that had some great recommendations in their catalogue, and so I placed two orderes with them and also collected some other titles from local retailers when they where on sale, or cheap used copies. Here is what came in today, and I took some photos of them with the dust jacket, without the dust jacket (some have a list of titles they already released on the back side), as well as every edition in detail. I also took the time to get out all the other titles I own to make a group picture, however I did not do any detailed pictures. My current order included: Drop Out 019: Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer Drop Out 035: The Wild Boys Drop Out 036: Baby Blood Drop Out 037: Komm und Sieh And I already had those titles in my collection: Drop Out 006: Possession Drop Out 024: Coherence Drop Out 025: Es ist Schwer, Ein Gott zu Sein Drop Out 029: The Eyes of my Mother Drop Out 033: The Friendly Beast Drop Out 034: Luz Before I post the pictures, if you've read so far, let me know what you think! I feel like it is one of the very few labels that could compete with all the wonderful boutique labels out there (like Criterion, pH Indicator, Eureka, etc.), and I could imagine, that there is a similar fanbase, i.e. people who like those labels could easily be won for this label. Do you like the releases? Something you might even consider getting? And out of their 37 releases, which one would the first movies be, that you'd get, i.e. what are your top x picks, regarding the lineup? And now, without further redue:
  23. You're welcome, and thanks for the reply. It's always nice to hear that the work one puts into creating all these pictures and collecting all that information gets appreciated! Sometimes it feels like you put a lot of work into these posts and forums and no one really cares... So thank you very much! I am always happy if I can create some value for some fellow collectors out there!
  24. Out of all the announcements that I have seen this year for 2021, this is the by far most exciting news I have read, and I am absolutey happy about it. You cannot believe it. I started screaming, when I read it, and my girlfriend came running because she was wondering, what had happened. If you've read my other posts, you might already know, that I am an excited and passionate collector of the Anolis Hammer series, since I bought my first release end of 2015 (The Brides of Dracula). I was late to the party, so to speak, but over time I managed to get all their releases together, preordering everything that was new, as well as having an eye out for all the releases that I've missed. Believe it or not, I had them complete by half a year - with three exceptions: the very first three: TWINS OF EVIL, CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF and QUATERMASS AND THE PIT. I had them on every search alert possible, I've been annoying all the groups and forums etc. with search inquires, and I already lost hope, when in 2019 I finally got the two easier titles: TWINS OF EVIL and CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF for 40€ each. That was an absolute bargain, which I hadn't expected (my absolute maximum for these Mediabooks is 50€ a piece). QUATERMASS AND THE PIT, however, which was the highest demand on my list, I couldn't get up to now, 5 years of intensive searching. So this feels like a huge and massive relieve FINALLY! I would have preferred the Cover A, to be quite honest, and I'll still keep an eye out. But finally, I have them ALL TOGETHER. Plus, I can watch all the Quatermass movies in chronological order This is the absolute best news for me!
  25. Release: Feb. 2021 Link: ??? Price: ???€ Discs: BD Booklet: 28 pages On Dec. 20th, 2013, a year after promising three titles for that year on Dec. 24th, 2012, Anolis finally released their very first title: QUATERMASS AND THE PIT. Being their very first release, they've decided to bring this release in a quite small limitation, only one cover artwork (in a rare artwork). Given that they've already released this title on DVD, Anolis was probably not prepared for how fast this would sell out: It was gone on Jan. 7th, 2014, just 17 days later, out of which in Germany 5 are national Holidays (Dec. 24th - 26th, and Dec./Jan. 31st and 1st) and 6 days where weekends. Anolis rethought their strategy and started releasing two cover artworks instead of one (especially as they already realized the really high demand for their next title, TWINS OF EVIL, plus a rather vivid discussion regarding their first cover artwork, that did not meet everyones taste), and they upped the limitation. Unfortunately, for understandable reasons, Anolis never reveals how high the limitation actually is, but it was no secret, that QUATERMASS AND THE PIT has probably by far the lowest number of units in all the Hammer releases Anolis did. And so, this DigiBook is probably one of the most sought after releases, with prices usually never below 200€ (e.g. right now, there is just one offer on eBay for a sealed copy with bidding starting at 220€ or a buy now option for 310€, and on Amazon there are two sealed copies for 218€ and 270€, as well as one used copy for 221€). When finally finishing the Quatermass Trilogy this year with the last missing film QUATERMASS 2, a couple of people asked for a re-release of QUATERMASS AND THE PIT, and now finally, Anolis gave in. This is the first time in the history of Anolis that they are doing a second edition of one of their collectors releases, and they are justifying it with the small limitation the original release came with. To not anger anyone, this second release will come in a different cover artwork, and count as the Cover B of our No. 1 release. The artwork is btw. nothing new (remember the rare one was the first release), but was actually already used by Anolis when they had this title released in their "Hammer Edition" series on DVD: However, if you look carefully, it is a bit different. The DVD cover was more zoomed in (see the arm on the left, where it's cut of right after then hand, or the breast on the right that is nearly touching the corner), and a few details are different, e.g. when you look at the two men on the left, you have different buildings. And of course the most evident: The devilish shadow in the background. I do think the cover is a much greater improvement, especially also the color of the title that is in blue and thus in tone with the artwork. Anolis did not tell anything about the release itself, but given that it is a second edition that will not do anything different than the first (except for the cover artwork), we already know what we can expect: The audio will be German (2.0 Mono) and English (2.0 Stereo DTS HD Master Audio) with optional German subtitles. We'll also get a couple of extras: Audio commentary with Roy Ward Barker and Nigel Kneale Audio commentary with Dr. Rolf Giesen (German) Interviews with Judith Kerr, Julian Glover, Joe Dante, Markus Gatiss, Kim Newman and Markus Hearn Super-8 version Trailer, TV-Spots, movie program and picture gallery. In addition there is a 28-paged booklet by Dr. Rolf Giesen and Uwe Sommerlad (also just in German). And because this might be relevant to some: As this is the 2013 release (which is the earliest this got released on Blu-ray) it is probably the original HD master that was done of this release (and as far as I can tell that's a 2K scan). It was released in the same year in Italy and in Australia (as part of the "Hammer Horror: The Blu-ray Collection", as well as a single Blu-ray+DVD combo release), and two years earlier in the UK (Optimum Home Entertainment) - all Amarays, the Italian version with no extras, the UK variant with the same audio commentary and interviews, plus additionally the "World of Hammer Sci-Fi Episode" that this release misses, and the Australian edition with just the audio commentary and the interviews. Regarding these releases, the Anolis version was a good competitor. However, over the years, there have been more releases, like a Steelbook by Zavvi in 2016 (no information on extras), and a Canadian and US release by Shout Factory. I could not find out anything regarding the master, but knowing that company, it could actually be that that one has a new master. Only thing I could find, is that it is also a 2K-scan, so maybe it's the same master (as Shout Factory would have probably gone for 4K if they already decided to do a new master, wouldn't they?). If anybody knows something about this, please add it to the discussion, it is definately highly appreciated. It does however come with two new audio commentaries, one with film historian Bruce G. Hallenbeck, and one with Constatine Nasr and Steve Haberman, and it also includes the old audio commentary, the Interviews and the formally only in the UK released "World of Hammer" extra. So if you don't care about the package and are more keen on extras, than that Shout Factories Amaray-release is the better choice - given you have a Region A player at hand And regarding the cover, it actually features the exact same as this release will: Enough about the edition, let's loose some lines on the movie (if you don't know it already): QUATERMASS AND THE PIT (in the US better known as FIVE MILLION YEARS TO EARTH) is a 1967 british sci-fi horror, and the final part of a trilogy that started with THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT (1995) and QUATERMASS 2 (1957). All three movies are based on a BBC Television serial of the same name as the movies, focussing on the professor Bernard Quatermass, a pioneer of the British space program, who in his quest of bringing men into space finds himself facing evil aliens that threaten humanity. This last movie of the trilogy is the first movie that was not filmed in black and white but in color, and it is also the first of the three movies, that features another actor (Andrew Keir) as Bernard Quatermass (instead of Brina Donlevy). The plot stays true to the serial it is remaking: During extensions of the London Underground, a mysterious object is found next to pre-human remains that can be dated back to five million years. Quatermass identifies this object as a martian spacecraft and deduces that aliens might have influenced human evolution. But there is another danger lurking within this spacecraft..... Let me close with not one, but two movie trailers, just because this is the second edition The first one is the original UK trailer, the second one the later US trailer (which is a bit more spoilerish, but also has the far better quality.
