Agreed, DVD case is a turn off. I'm not sure who is being targeted by these releases. They are cheap but almost all fans have these movies already. People who still buy DVDs aren't looking to upgrade. Maybe some who are just looking for a cheap 4k disc will bite.

I'll second that. I've never received a damaged item from Amazon JP. The shipping can be expensive at times but they always use a box and items are secured inside (not loose). 

I ordered this anyway, even though there's no English subtitles. I just love the look of this edition. I'll just supplement it with a USA disc when one becomes available. 

Not even sure words are necessary, just watching Godzilla smashing stuff is good enough for me! 

This steelbook is crying out for embossing but I'm afraid it will be flat.

@tigrou82 no news yet of any upcoming premiums for this movie.

just thinking covering all may help people that like english versions they may not get in there own country or sold out from a supplier that does not ship internationally

I actually like this art a lot. I guess I'll try this movie when it comes on Disney+ and see if it's worth a purchase.

I assume he's talking about this one. It's a boxset in a long rectangular box with some goodies. I have the one for Dune part 1 (see pic below). It came with a book and a soundtrack cd

There are no guarantees. Those decisions are made on a case by case basis. Best solution is to spread the word about these fantastic CE releases and maybe get some buddies to sign up. They also make great gifts for weddings, anniversaries, and baby showers 😄

Have IMAX tickets to see it next Saturday afternoon.  I watched the short sneak preview released last week and now I’m going to try to avoid hearing anything else.  Wish me luck.

I'm seeing it in IMAX in two days! IMAX calls it a fan first premiere and there's supposed to be a mini-poster giveaway too. Rewatched part 1 with the wife last week to get her caught up.

I got a notification that my digital copy of Starman was upgraded to 4k. Not as good as a physical release, but at least it's something. One of my favorite movies ♥️

The HD DVD was a blind-buy for me back in the mid-2000's. It put me to sleep every time I tried to watch it, but I kept coming back to it for some reason. Now, I've come to appreciate it, and it's one of those movies where I notice something new every time I see it. 

 

It's too bad Lynch wasn't given the creative control he needed to round out the story, the narrative falls apart about three-quarters through (IMHO). This theatrical experience gave me some fresh hype to revisit Villeneuve's version prior to Part 2 in a couple weeks.

 

 

 

I've always loved Lynch's Dune, even with it's flaws. I have the new Viavision blu-ray on pre-order since it includes the extended TV cut which isn't on the Arrow 4k release.
