I understand that the 4k disc in the French steel had an issue with subtitles. English subtitles were not automatically provided when the characters would speak Cantonese or Mandarin. The only way around it was to turn on the English closed captioning for the duration of the film. It's for this reason that I purchased the US retail disc.

 

I'm not sure that a Nova 4k disc would have had the same issue but the purchase of another disc may have been necessary anyway for us English speakers. The US retail release was $9.99 last holiday season - and you get a digital copy. I think the Nova price would have increased by more than $10 if it included 4k discs.

Yes, I picked up the $9.99 4k release at Walmart last Christmas and that's the one I watch. Nova probably wasn't able to get the 4k disc for this release, but that's probably for the best given the subtitle issues.

I'm thinking of grabbing one, but I'm concerned it won't be all that secure ontop of a high unit, with a flat top, and may be prone to sliding if knocked etc..

@samdavies I have all 3 motherboxes sitting on top of a tall bookcase. They are heavy and won't move unless the whole bookcase gets tipped over.

Looks pretty nice overall. Great lenticular on the box and nice embossing on the box and slips. Still some room for improvement, but it's nice to see that Raro is increasing quality with every release.

Yes, the new 4k steelbook is expected to be released in Nov/Dec. That's the one that will go into this release.

@tuggernuts It varies from GB to GB, but in general MP has an excellent track record of servicing requests. Tier members get priority, then regular. On hot titles like this one, some members may not get what they requested or may be offered an alternative edition if they one they requested is not available. - Ken

Change requests can be submitted to the I&Q thread in the club, but the preferred method is to submit a new “Update” request in the GB. This will entirely replace the previous request with the new one. - Ken

@César Escalante Yes, the GB is closed. Also, to make a request in an open group buy you need to navigate to our group buy section (plus usually there is a link in the first post of the release thread). If the GB says OPEN in the title and there is a green button, you can click on that to fill in a form to make a request. Below is a screen shot of our GB for MAG Black Hawk Down and you can see that it is closed. Please feel free to check out our many open GBs though!

@Manticore4 It's in Japanese with almost no English but some nice photos and illustrations. I posted some photos of the edition here.

The Lighthouse Japanese Collector’s Edition (with a few sample pages from the booklet)

I will stick with the Japan collector's boxset.
