That is amazing, the next Generation of Physical Media Collectors! Our house is so bad (and it's my fault). We still do VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-Ray/4K and Vinyl. I still have an 8-Track and Walkman as well, lol. One of my favorites is our 8MM Projector to watch old films on. The kids get a blast seeing movies on a sheet.

That’s awesome, you’ve got me thinking of looking for old projectors now.  I think I’d only draw the line at collecting celluloid, strictly due to the fire risk (otherwise I’d probably try it).  I actually have an old discman from back before you could get a CD player mounted in your car.  The kid loves that.  And we once took a small boombox in the car so he could continue listening to my old They Might Be Giants Flood cassette in the car (which was too new to have ever dreamt of a cassette deck).

The physical format cannot die because we are human beings and we like to touch.

And it will be back in fashion. It's just a matter of sitting back and waiting.

In fact, it has even more potential than the return of vinyl.

PS: And that's without a third world war, or an economic/sectorial collapse. If the streaming platforms go down, you will be the sole providers for your neighbors.

My son, now 13, just instinctively loves physical media.  Especially vinyl, but discs as well.  He goes further than I do; ever since he found my copies of the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS, that’s how he wants to watch them.  I even try to talk him out of it!  No dice.

  3. I hadn’t seen this since the early 90s and now realize I had forgotten almost all of it:

That was fun!  Checking out some of the extras, the fight to include/eliminate footage between Raimi and executives is hilarious.  There’s got to be a 150 minute cut somewhere.

slow day at work so we hide our phone in an accordion file folder and watch a few goodies. this prevents the office snitches from having anything to report. in any case another film I am fond of.

Was it any good?  I love Chinatown and, having watched that again recently, I’ve considered (again) checking this out.

    Good afternoon!

The spring is coming we will be climbing up to 27ºC (=80ºF).

And I don't know if I'll have time to go, but I'm already looking forward to going to the beach.

Relaxing, listening to the waves, resting, drinking something nice...

Nothing like spring to feel that the good life is coming!!!!

    Good afternoon everyone!

Are you near the beach or is it a significant journey?

From awesome effects artist Phil Tippett, finally made his own film.  I’ve seen nothing like it, though I’m sure it’s not for everyone.  Highly detailed stop animation, dialogue-free, violent and gory as hell.  All kind of strange creations, most of them at least a little creepy.  I was fully engrossed the entire time.

  7. So my sister hooked me up last week at Walmart; they received 2 of each of these Mondo titles and she immediately snatched up one of each:

This is my favorite, love this classic comic art style:

Always loved this one, hard to go wrong with those two actors.

Have you seen The Hunted, with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro (directed by William Friedkin)?  A lot of similarities between the two.

As soon as I get the kiddo to bed I’m throwing in Rolling Thunder, in which Tommy Lee plays the pal who will help you whenever you need to kill folks.

Hard to believe anyone is surprised by this.  I’m still looking forward to seeing what he’s been trying to put together for so many years.

Man that’s a lot of Chuck Norris.  Kind of making me wish I had MGM+.

Took my mom out for her birthday, saw this at the theater at her request:

Just a really well done movie, the studio system at its best.  Two two hour chunks, with an intermission right in the middle. Neither piece feels 2 hours long.  Really great performances from everyone involved.  Actually enjoyed it though it drags a bit for me after the baby is born.

Watched the 2nd season finale last night and am now prepared to say that the 2nd season is at least *almost* as good as season 1, which is very good indeed.  The finale would do fine as a series finale but I hope it isn’t.  There are some very interesting things that could happen next from here, they’ve changed the Tokyo crime landscape with the happenings of the finale. Very good show.
