I like it.
It's a fun 60s spy movie done in Guy Ritchie's style.
Thanks! I tend to at least like his stuff, occasionally love it. I suspect I’ll pick this one up.- 2

That sounds cool, I love car shows. We are actually going up to Mammoth Cave, the world’s largest cave system. It’s near my hometown which, since you mention car shows, is the home of the Corvette. I have been to a lot of great car shows. Of course, the big event every year is the Corvette Homecoming, when people drive their Corvettes in from all over the country. But Bowling Green KY also used to be a big center for drag racing as well, and there are lots of non-Corvette car shows. There used to be a big event every year for Grand Nationals but I’m not sure if they’re still doing that.
Got any cars that you’re especially proud of? I only drive a Hyundai, sadly, because I’m a middle aged dad who needs a good warranty and good gas mileage. I recently sold the last fun car I had, a 2000 VW GTI VR6. Fun to drive, but it needs so much care that it’s like having an extra child.

I’ve heard very good things about this movie but never seen it. Any fans here?

Is that movie?
I realize that Erin Moran must have appeared in shows and movies other than Joanie Loves Chachi, but I don’t remember any. Of course, the fact that I remember that show (though I was very young) reveals that I’m getting old.- 2

I’d give it about the same rating, maybe a 7. I didn’t care as much about what happened in the vaults as I think we’re meant to care. And Maximus as a kid crawling out of the refrigerator has already reached Martha-Wayne’s-pearls territory. Feels like they showed it almost every episode. But I always like Walton Goggins and the show tends to work when he’s on screen. Trying to avoid spoilers, but I’d like to see more of a character who evidently won’t be around for the 2nd season. But it’s a good enough show that I’m sure I’ll watch the 2nd season.

We’ll see how long I can stay awake, but I guess I’m about to give 3 Body Problem a run. Goodnight, psychos.

“Weapons, which is described as an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia”That sounds really interesting, and Brolin tends to have good taste in projects. For the last decade, I don’t think he’s made anything that I didn’t like.

Wow, that literally hurt to read that. I sure hope you can find replacements, but there's nothing like the one's you held in your Cheeto's stained hands as a kid, right?
A not quite similar story for me, but with a happy ending . . . I'm also an avid Stamp collector (no, I'm not old 😆), my dad got me started when I was 5. My first real album was a Scott Liberty in two volumes. My sister used to go in to it and get mint stamps to send her postcards, etc. Bummed me out. So, when I was about 13 and had a pretty awesome/valuable collection, I went in the basement and hid it in the drop ceiling. I climbed up on a chair, and lifted a panel, then pushed both volumes to one side to hide it from my sister.Well, football season started, then school started, then I met a girl, and before you knew it I forgot where I put it. Then, one day, my dad comes home and says we're moving (it was a rental so it happened quickly). I tried to find it, but couldn't, I swear I looked everywhere, and no dice . . . and then we moved. I was pissed off.
Years later, like when I'm 35, my mom and I were driving by our old house (we'd moved to Florida) and I said, let's stop in, I want to see if they found my stamp collection. The people were really cool about it, I told them the story, they laughed. I went in to the basement, and the friggin first panel I lifted up, in the back corner by a non-structural wall, I saw the edge of the blue spine of the album. When I pushed to the side when I was 13, it had slid down a bit on the other side of the non-structural wall, so I couldn't see it when I was much shorter.
I couldn't believe it. Just crazy, 20 years later to have that back.
So, long story to say, I'm sorry you won't get your comics back @MikeH5856 my man. Although replacing them will be fun too, you get to relive buying them again.
Man that’s amazing. That must have felt incredible.I just drug the boxes of my comics out when we moved, haven’t put them in the attic, which is where they were in the previous house. Heavy on mid-80s to early 90s Marvel, though there’s a lot of other stuff.
Going to go through it with my son, who is a Marvel fan now, especially Spider Man (unfortunately my collection is too old to have any Miles Morales). I really want him to sample The Last Hunt with Kraven, for instance. See if he has any taste for William Blake

This may have been reported here already, but it looks like the next Face/Off movie may be a sequel instead of a reboot, and Travolta and Cage may be returning for it.

Crazy.

Looks like Viggo Mortenson is pulling a Costner, writing, directing and starring in his own western.

Outdoors, it’s like a delicious looking mushroom that turns out to be poisonous. Beautiful, sunny, 45 degrees. Been spoiled lately, we had highs in the low 80s for most of the week.

🎬 💿 Fellow film aficionados I found a good YouTuber that explains some settings changes needed if any of your 4K discs skip/freeze on your Sony X700 4K player (a really nice guy! )! 😉
I went ahead and changed my settings to his recommendations (I did have a few 4K discs skip/freeze on me and even cleaned them but still did not help, let’s hope this settings change helps me 🙏)!! 🙏
Interesting. I rarely have a problem, but my player won’t display the menu options on Point Break 4K, or play it. I only see the background of the menu screen. I haven’t watched it yet, but it will only play on my PS5 and will have to watch it there.- 2

Curious to see what you think. I love the idea of a good pirate show, if it is that.
Watched the 4th episode of Shogun tonight. The show isn’t getting enough credit for being hilarious.
And last night I finished the first season of:
Solid show, 7/10. Regularly made me laugh, loved a lot of the design. Will definitely check out the 2nd season. You could put Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan in almost anything and I’d watch it.

Yes! Our local Regal theaters are having a showing on 5/19. They had a Chinatown showing about 2 weeks before that 4K disc was made available for pre-order, was already thinking the same might happen here.- 5

I had pre-ordered the Paramount Presents version of the upcoming Once Upon a Time In The Old West 4K, found a much cooler version today and it’s only $8 more. Same thing with Chinatown. I’d been wondering if anyone was going to do that.
I really like most of the movies that Paramount has chosen for that series, but often wished for a slightly cooler physical presentation. The films themselves look great. Hustle & Flow in particular was a huge upgrade.

What did you watch last night???

Watching this with a friend, so slowly as we can get together:
Watched episode 6 last night, Ladies of the Willow World, best episode yet. It’s so nice to watch a show that trusts you to watch closely and figure out what’s happening, rather than explicitly spelling everything out. Really enjoying this show.
Had loaned this to a co-worker, returned it yes and I popped it in when we got home:
Some of the stuff that looked dazzling in 3D IMAX looks sort of cartoonish at home, and it can get a bit slow, but I think it’s a much better movie to watch at home than the first Avatar. And though it meanders on the way there, the last third is pretty great and I’m fully invested in the characters by then.
Then I broke out this Criterion Blu Ray which I’ve had for a while, seen before:
Forgot there’s a pretty cool poster in here, may have to smooth it out and put it on our little “media room” (where movies and movie merch are displayed, and video games are played):
Great movie. London looks amazing, Widmark is a perfect heel and all the supporting players seem like real people. Movie makes you believe that if you were a more charismatic hustler you might land a Gene Tierney, even if you’re a loser. Seriously though, very good flick.
