I placed two orders so far - with the sale, the shipping doesn't work out to be too much of a problem if you look at the average cost. :)

Thanks @Carl that's how I was thinking about it too, still better than eBay! I was just throwing the request out there in case there was some magic trick that MP were performing when it came to these sites :D

Yesterday I ordered 4 x movies from NovaMedia and the total shipping charges to USA was $43.00 USD. Sometimes what I do for larger orders I split the order and compare and most of the time I get lower combined shipping charges, ex. 2 x orders for $40.00/each instead of $100; normally up to 4 titles or 1-2 box sets/each, all depends on the package weight and type of service you use. Good luck!

Great insight and took a bit of messing around to figure this out last night 😂 appreciate the feedback 👍

    exactly. ;)

depending on the weight, the K-PACKET is no longer available and we switch to EMS.

so yes it is sometimes better to place 2x orders in K-PACKET than one in EMS.

we must calculate that it is the most advantageous :)

Perfect, that’s exactly what I did (keeping it under the magic 2kg weight). Thanks for that!

🥤Howdy @soundsorange if you are talking about a GB to buy directly from their website(s) (would be nice though), no we do not , however we do hold GBs here KIMCHI GROUP BUYS & here are our NOVA GROUP BUYS😊

    🤠 Have a wonderful day!!

Thank you sir! Yeah I’m signed up for the Knives Out and 1917 GB’s from Kimchi and NOVA respectively, hope these indeed go ahead 🤞🏻

I have the same problem with Kimchi and Nova. I'd order from them more often but the shipping is high. But keep in mind, even if we did have a GB for the winter sale (and we don't) there really isn't any way to get around the shipping costs.

Good point - looks like they don’t offer any concessions based on size of order so, as you say, it seems a GB wouldn’t  make much difference anyway 😊

  6. Thanks everyone, appreciate the quick feedback! If nothing else, this sanity check makes me feel less guilty about spending so much on shipping 😂 I went ahead and placed my order with NOVA (with K-packet) and will probably do a small one with Kimchi too. Taipei Story went out of stock and was bummed but suddenly came back in stock, in case anyone was hoping to get this one.

Even though it works out at $10 per item (roughly) for shipping, the total cost for each item is still better than prices on eBay, if they are even available at all. So all good 😊

Hope everyone is well and getting into the Xmas spirit (if you celebrate it of course) 🎄

  8. Hi fellow MP’s!

First post on this thread but felt I should start doing it now and again as sometimes I watch these awesome movies and no one I know personally has the same interest and so end up just keeping my thoughts to myself 😂😂

I’ve built up an enormous collection over the last 4 years and can’t wait to get through all of them (I’ve barely scratched the surface!). Just in the period of the pandemic I picked up over 800 films, and I’m now trying to spend less time researching and more watching! I do find it very addictive/exciting getting into rabbit holes and finding out about awesome directors/films I hadn’t known about but really must start cutting back on that and actually enjoying them 😄

Last night I finally got around to watching two of said films: Au Revoir Les Enfants and Borgman. Two completely different films but both thoroughly enjoyable and left a lasting impression.

The former - it was the acting, the haunting looks, and the gut punch of reality at the end that made it so. A sad film given the material (the Holocaust) but not depressing, would highly recommend.

The latter - Borgman - I was initially sceptical as it had <7 on IMDb but sometimes I will take a gamble, and this one paid off. I was completely glued throughout with tension building gradually and the feeling of total uncertainty as to where the audience will end up at the end. I won’t reveal too much but it does take an unexpectedly dark turn which I didn’t see

coming! Go in blind to this one if you are open minded and enjoy darker films. Not gory though!

If anyone else has seen these, or has felt the same addiction to the researching/hunting process haha, be great to hear your thoughts!
