That’s a bit extreme lol. The Kimchi slip was pretty bland (the FS here is far better IMO) and while the Kimchi steel is nicer than Manta, the Zavvi OG is equally nice if not better than Kimchi with the embossed title. I’ll probably do a switcheroo on the steels like I did with 2001.

Agree to disagree 😆 the FS is so nice and clean and love the reverse art rather than the bobble heads. Also prefer the FS art on the first Matrix so will pair nicely.

I ordered the OC as I couldn’t decide which edition I like better. I also love my OG Zavvi white embossed steel which is the same design as the front of the FS. Might swap out the steel from the DL for the Zavvi one. But then again that white artwork looks potentially even better as the front of the FS than it does on the steel. Will need to wait til they arrive…

Big shout-out to my Secret Santa buddy Joe @jstak42 for the awesome stack of movies! After my long journey back to the US we managed to connect and found a day to open each other’s gifts. He was kind enough to wait an extra couple of weeks for me 😁😁 Been an absolute pleasure getting to know Joe and turns out we have very similar taste in films. I purposely sent him several that I thought he’d like that I also haven’t seen yet and we plan to watch them around the same time and chat about them. Hey Eli, I’m currently in the UK, returning to the US on Saturday, and so @jstak42 and I agreed to unwrap our gifts in parallel once I’m back. My gifts are with him already (sent off before I came to the UK) 👍

Had a crazy time trying to get back to the UK from the US to be with family for Christmas but of course made sure to get my secret Santa gifts sent off and based on tracking believe my friend will get his package today 🎉🎉 I look forward to being able to open his when I get back in Jan 😊 but more importantly hope he enjoys the holidays and that I managed to guess a bunch of things he will like 🤞🏻

Sort of like asking, ‘will I like spaghetti’ to a group of people 😂 Everyone will have their own opinion but generally most people who appreciate Spike/Joaquin/Sci-fi tend to enjoy it. If I’m on the fence about a blind buy I tend to rifle through IMDb reviews without spoilers to get a sense of if it’ll be my taste, or just stream it first and then jump into the GB if I like it.

Share the same sentiment - thought I’d have liked it more than I did. I watched it long after it came out though by which point it had been hyped up. Think I might still go for this though and see if my appreciation increases after I get and watch it again. Love the art!

Love the DL and I do like the OC art, but I wish Roy was a major feature on at least one edition. Other thing that’s bugging me is that I had a custom made not long ago with the exact same front artwork as this steelbook! Oh well, this is a must-have for me as one my top 5 films.

I never thought I’d go ‘backwards’ into DVD’s after selling/donating 99% of my collection a few years back but as I get deeper into certain genres (especially Asian cinema), I’ve discovered loads that haven’t been released on blu ray (see Sion Sono for example). Some of those DVD’s are fetching $80-100 on eBay! I’ve spent $30 a few times on rarer DVD’s where there’s no sign of a blu ray but won’t go much higher than that. I tend to only get 4K for films that I think will be noticeably better (films >15 years old as a rule of thumb). Love it when it’s a classic that gets the 4K treatment as you notice things you didn’t see before.

Ahh ok that makes it clearer why there’s a lot of excitement around these (I wasn’t familiar hence my confusion). Fingers crossed the fans get what they hope for!

Hey guys, my understanding is that these two Long Halloween movies haven’t been released but fans seem to be super excited about these releases. Is there something that makes it likely that these will be a big hit and not complete flops? It’s a genuine question as I’ve rarely seen people excited for a steelbook for a film they’ve never seen 🤔
