Inspired by @Fortis93 description of the geographical dysfunctional characters of Australia, I am putting on one of my fav Australian hip hop acts, direct from Wankerville, the city of Sidney . . . .
Horrorshow LISTEN CLOSE (from King Amongst Many)
Nice one.
Chase it up with this:

Oh man, one of those moments when you remember that Australia was populated by convicts.
Oh, it's populated by a lot more than that.
I'll give you the run down:
- Sydney is full of wankers (yours truly).
- Melbourne is full of hipsters.
- Brisbane is full of surfers and bogans (aka "rednecks")
- Darwin is full of crime.
- Perth and Adelaide are full of.....nothing much.
- And then there's Hobart.
That's pretty much all you need to know.

Oh my God..
I just received my The Great Gatsby OC and the outside seal was not there. Did the ABF unseal it or was there never a seal on the OC?
Note.. I don't open my premiums
I think the ABF opened it and inspected it.
A similar thing happened to one of my premiums a couple of years ago.

Funnily enough, my musical tastes were mostly shaped by what was playing on tv and the radio at the time
I've always had a hunch that the genres you're first exposed to are the ones you gravitate towards when you're older.
A majority of the songs that played on the TV and radio when I was a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s were R&B, Hip Hop, etc.

Very similar to my parents.
My Dad's tastes run the gamut from the 50s to the 80s, which I know rubbed off on me.
My Mum only likes a select few songs in English, she mostly listens to Arabic music because of where she was born/grew up. 😅

Great point. Exactly right. The 60s was inspired by, and a tribute to R&B . . . the 70s began the movement for those musicians actually saying it for themselves.
Yeah, I think the 60s may have been the greatest decade for Rock music, but for R&B not so much.
That's where the 70s reigned supreme.

The sixties was the genius and the excitement of foreplay and raw discovery . . . but the technology hadn't really hit yet that expanded things outward from the singer songwriter, guitar driven tunes of the late 60s (I know there were exceptions). Brilliance, for sure, love it all. The Beatles and others of course, pushed things forward, and the raw expression of counter culture saying what they had to say was new, fresh, and perfect.
But, from a genre, musicological POV, synthesis, availability of multi-track (24 track started in 1970) recording, SSLs tools, the industry movement from song driven emphasis to albums, poly Moog, modern Strats, FM radio, tape decks, on and on . . . the composition tools, touring tools, recording tools . . . it all expanded everything very quickly in the 70s. And musicians just went nuts in every direction, the merging of the songwriting skill from the sixties with the new sonic tools of the seventies broke everyone loose.
And, integration, that was a huge huge deal. It isn't until the 70s that you start seeing the massive cross pollination of styles, techniques, etc. Yep, it started in the 60s. But it flourished in the 70s.
You don't have the 70s without the 60s, and the 60s are the foundation. There's a purity about it that will never happen again. I personally, would have rather been a child of the 60s than the 80s, but musically, critically, it all grew in the 70s, and set the menu of genres and styles that would then become micro/sub genres today.
imo
You also don't have the 60s without the 50s and the early R&B stuff that many rock bands of the sixties were influenced by.

Aren’t you guys forgetting the sixties just a little? 😅
1967 is quite possibly the greatest year in the history of popular music and that decade’s second half is unparalleled in terms of sheer musical brilliance.
The 1960s were a great decade; lots of great stuff came out of it.
For me personally, I think 1966 was the peak with Pet Sounds (one of my favourite albums of all time) and Revolver.

This morning I received a surprise package from @Gary K
I couldn’t believe when I opened it… he had this beauty made for me as well since he knows how much I love this movie.
Thank you my dear friend for this amazing gift 🙏
My custom steel section just got another prestigious member in its midst 😍
With the amount of gifts you're receiving, I can tell you're very popular with the Chicago Police Department. 😄

It's both startling and depressing how the variety and quality of music significantly dips starting from the mid 2000s. I can only be grateful for having been born and raised through decades where plenty of outstanding music was still being made.
I've always said that people who grew up in the 70s and 80s were very well fed when it came to music and movies.
I don't think it's a nostalgia thing either as I was born in the 90s.
I genuinely think the best stuff came out during those two decades.

I wouldn't be so arrogant to tell you what you should put in your own list. 😅
This challenge is a hard one for me as well.
I love all kinds of music, but I haven't ventured as far with music as I have with movies. I gravitate more towards R&B, Soul, Funk, etc.
Picking favourites of songs released during the years I've been alive doesn't really reflect the types of things I listen to.
