Yes, I know. But those are really the only Chen Kaige films I like, whereas I would buy anything by those other three directors.

That's a good idea! While I am often tempted by Region B discs (Zavvi keeps releasing nice anime steelbooks that are Region B only), I really haven't seen a need for Region C. So, yeah, a Region B player is really all I need, not Region-free. Hmmm, that is a tempting idea. I will try to resist it.

Maybe if it were a steelbook, I'd consider it. But really I feel I have to draw the line somewhere, and I'm drawing it at buying/hacking a Region-free player. At least that's what I'm saying this year. I will need to buy a 4k UHD player at some point, but I'm hoping the PlayStation 5 will have that when it comes out in a year or two.

Yeah, I saw those a while ago. I really did just barely miss out on those. I think my first Kimchi order was in late March. That said, I'm not crazy in love with those covers, so I'll pass on trying to eBay them and hope that someone else will do a Region A release. It'll happen eventually! And it's not like I don't already have them on DVD. I really like the Zavvi set, but I just can't handle Region B. I love Stand Alone Complex so much, maybe even more than the GitS movies. I was able to grab the deluxe set for the movies from YesAsia back in April, I think. I'm pretty happy with that release!

4k might be a tad overrated, but Dolby Vision isn't. And I think the only way to get Dolby Vision and HDR10 (on physical media) is on UHD 4k.

Argh! Region B only, if Zavvi is to be believed.... I could use a nice Stand Alone Complex Blu-ray release that's Region A or Region-free.

Yeah, that's disappointing. I presume Universal didn't permit it? I don't have a nice release of this in my collection and I'm a Mantalab fan, so I think I'll pick up the lenti anyway.

If anyone knows of a nice/deluxe edition of A Silent Voice on Blu-ray that is Region A or Region-free with English subtitles, I'd love to hear about it.

Yes, It did, thanks to your help. It's gorgeous! I'm very happy with it. Now, I'm looking forward to the Wind River release in June. And I'm regretting not getting on the Kimchi Murder on the Orient Express train.

Hello! New member here. Just found out about the GB from over at BR and signed up. I hope I'm not too late for this. Red Soghum is my all-time favorite movie. I saw a Technicolor print in film class in college in 1988 and was blown away by it. Been a fan of Zhang Yimou's direction ever since. I've been hoping someone would do a restoration of this great film, and I'm so happy to see it finally happen. Cheers!
