You need the proper setup.  :D

The first time I built my 18" ported subs I was told to play the scene from Finding Nemo when Nora knocks on the glass of the fish tank.

2 x 5000 watt amplifiers started to clip and I thought a bomb hit the house.

Very intense scene at around 8hz and very loud.

Same happened with War of the Worlds at the beginning with the machines coming out from the ground and the ground breaking.  4-10hz for about 20-30 seconds.  You swear the drywall was being sucked off the walls.

Now with the 2 x 21" subs I have that same Nora scene I use to scare the hell out of people.  If my neighbours give me a hard time I loop the War of the Worlds scene with the windows open and play it with the sub power 20db above reference with the subs run even hotter.

     2 x 21" ??

I'll have to check that War of Worlds scene out.

  2. Amazon will just throw it in a large box and send it to you. They must enjoy going through returns 90% of the time.

Im going to try that magazine trick as @Grendel suggested. I even thought about ordering $5 worth of bubble wrap or something along with the order LOL.

    I have 4K.

I think the the J-card ruins the beauty of the box for those of us who don't open them and put them on display.

    Interesting thx for reply!

I looked closer and the j-card is underneath the packaging, not like the individual releases? If so yea, I see what your saying.... The individuals just has the j-card loose in a loose bag but yea the box set has to look at it forever if you don't open the entire thing ?

  4. @deckard99 yea it really depends on what the studio put out. I watched Ex Machina last night in 4k again and it was a little soft to me. Its native 4K but all the VFX is 2K but most of the movie is VFX xD Sometimes the studios put out visual gems like Fifth Element or Gladiator which are just packed with grain, detail and nothing is soft though.

Another good option for 4K player is the new Sony X700 that has Dolby Vision support. I think its under $200 now. If I lived in Europe I'd want the Panasonic UB9000 or equivalent player (Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support).

Let's say I was interested in getting a 4K player, what's the best region free that's affordable, and where?

It really sucks Oppo is stopping making players err going out of business, not that they were cheap but they had a good hardware region mod that didn't mess with the firmware. Wish I could help more on the region stuff.. All the 4K UHD is region free but I think the regular blu rays aren't.
