I don't understand why in a movie called Léon, the character is not in the front cover of the steelbook. I think the full slip is the best of the three.

I guess if you want the next best thing.
Watch La Femme Nikita and Anna (if you haven't already).
Both by the same director of Leon.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Colombiana at first supposed to be a sequel to Léon with Mathilda?

I haven't been at home the last 2 weeks, but I'll watch Revanche and Solaris as soon as possible.
In fact, I think I never watched Solaris with Clooney. I only know the one from Tarkovski, which is a fantastic movie.

I agree, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is his worst movie. Like watching paint dry.
If you think Once Upon a time in Hollywood is like watching paint dry, then for sure you never watched Jeanne Dielman 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975)!

Rewatched Cinema Paradiso and its a movie getting better with each viewing.
It always makes me feel nostalgic, seeing a time in which the magic and power of cinema
was in its prime, bringing people of all sorts together to forget the outside world, dream and
be amazed united as an audience.
The life-long relationship between an old man and a young boy connected by their love for cinema and
the boys first love is told magically, invaluably enhanced by a great score from Morricone.
Also, the final scene is one of the best ever. A masterpiece.
I also watched the Directors Cut which is significantly weaker. None of the added scences do anything but
weaken the movie and its characters, be it the character of Elena, the relationship between the boy and the old man
or the ending which looses a lot of its magic. Its a prime example that sometimes less is much more (like Apocalypse Redux Version).
My score:
theatrical 9/10
directors cut: 6/10
I subscribe every word. It's amazing how the theatrical version is a masterpiece, but then watching the directors cut it just looks like a banal movie.

If I had to rank them, I'd say something like this:
1 - Reservoir Dogs
2 - Pulp Fiction
3 - Inglourious Basterds
4 - Jackie Brown
5 - Kill Bill
6 - The Hateful Eight
7 - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
8 - Django Unchained
9 - Death Proof

Between RD and PF, my favorite seems to be which ever one I watched most recently. But, I have to admit, seeing RD for the first time, and that neo-hipster violence, it was a game changer. Can you believe it is over 30 years old? It holds up.
Excited for this one.
For me it's a pretty close call between them. However, I've always felt that Reservoir Dogs was more creative and Vic Vega is my 2nd favourite character from Tarantino after Hans Landa.

Cinema Paradiso... there isn't much to say. A fantastic love letter to the cinema itself. Films like this don't get made anymore. Nowadays all we get is Every... and apparently there are people that really like that, looking at the Academy Awards.
Fantastic score, as usual, from Ennio Morricone
9/10 (the theatrical version) - It's a masterpiece for me. The Director's cut is far far worse.

Sorcerer - 8/10.
If I particularly hate Gone Girl because everyone there seems to be a bad person, in this movie I love it. They are there exactly because they aren't good guys and therefore had to hide somewhere. They were used to much higher standards, therefore the money offered for the job forces them to do it. The tension is insane in the bridge part and it's a very smart approach to make the characters pass through all this and then make the deaths happen in moments which the audience is resting or it's not expecting. In Roy Scheider's character you could even think he has succeeded and then boom, a punch in the stomach. Really enjoyed the fact that it has no happy ending. It's also no wonder that this is one of Tarantino's favourite movies and you can see the influence in the death of some characters in his films when we aren't really expecting like Travolta in the toilet.
The acting is also good and all the reality during all the parcours is fantastic, including the no CGI explosions. It's a very solid 8/10 for me, it could be higher, but honestly I'm quite scrict giving rates and tend to save the 9 and the 10 for movies that are quite special to me.
So, if I remember my rates correctly it stands like this:
Druk - 6/10
The Way Back - 5/10
Sorcerer - 8/10
- 9

I wasn't certain about what to pick. Thought about Three Colours: Red, one of my favourites movies, but probably most people already watched it, so I decided to pick Rolling Thunder, a low budget movie that is in my opinion one of the best in its gender.

The Way Back - 5/10.
Ben Affleck's performance is good, however more than a movie about sports, the main plot is related to the main character drinking issues. In the end, Affleck's character begins trying to recover, starts therapy and finds some joy in basketball again. It wasn't a memorable movie, but was still enjoyable. I'd say it has less depth in character construction compared to Druk.

@Miguelispro That's going to be tough. That's basically list price without including shipping or customs, and this is a pretty hot release.
Yeah, I figured a release like this would be quickly sold out. After all, it's a great movie and the steel looks great.

You mean steelbook only with no slip? What do you consider normal price?I mean from what I looked on Ebay people were selling it for 100€+ Either steelbook only or fullslip would be nice I guess.
A normal price, I'd say not more than 50€.

The steel looks great. If it appears somewhere at a normal price, I'll be seriously considering getting one.

Challenge 16:
Trying to do a top 10 is so hard. I'd say something like this:
Rocky
Taxi Driver
Once Upon a Time in America
Reservoir Dogs
The Great Escape
Scarface
The Godfather I/II
Three Colours: Red
His Girl Friday
The Searchers
At first, I had a top 13 list, but ended up choosing to delete Memento, Cinema Paradiso and Goodfellas. It was also a really hard choice between Rocky and Rambo First Blood and between Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Honestly, I would like to have a steelbook of them all since at the moment I only have Godfather I/II and Scarface.

So I’ve decided that my choice for next week will be William Freidkin’s Sorcerer.
It’s adapted from the same source material as Clouzot’s masterpiece Wages Of Fear so it’s not, strictly speaking, a remake as much as another adaptation. For my money, it’s just as good, but I’m curious what you all think. Of course we don’t start till next week, but wanted to give you all a head’s up. There aren’t any real premium’s out there, but the blu-ray is easy enough to find and it’s available for rent from the usual sources.
I was inspired to choose this since I’m awaiting receipt of the only quasi-premium edition I’ve ever seen for this movie thanks to @Fortis93. Of course, I had to ask one of my French friends to help my with getting it, since the seller wouldn’t ship to the states.
One of Tarantino's favourite movies. I've been looking for a steelbook of this movie, however I haven't find it. Not even a 4K release!

I watched this movie last year, but after reading your comments here, I went to a rewatch. It was available on Filmin (the only streaming service I have, since it had a black friday bargain and I hate streaming overall).
I think it had a good structure, changing at some point from a soft alcohol glorification to showing some of the negative and unpredictable effects it can have in people's lives. Actually, this probably applies to every addiction. It's another good performance from Mads Mikkelsen and the ending that his character has is enjoyable, however I can't label Druk as a great movie. It's not a weak movie, but it's not the kind of movie I would rewatch. That said, I would give a 3/5 rate.

Léon: The Professional (Manta Lab Exclusive #57) (WEA 4k UHD/2D Blu-ray Steelbook) [Hong Kong]

I think it's pretty hard to defend a claim that Léon is not the main character even if Mathilda has a very important role.
In Die Hard we want Bruce Willis and not Alan Rickman and in this case the movie's title is literally Léon. In Godfather you also want Marlon Brando there. The Dark Knight might in fact be an exception since Joker's role was indeed iconic and there are other movies in the trilogy.
