Hey guys! I'm a 24 year old guy living in Texas who is now enamored with SteelBooks. I found this forum thanks to rave reviews from some of the regulars of the /r/SteelBooks subreddit and corresponding Discord server. Suffice to say, since the quarantine started, my obsession with SteelBooks has begun and exacerbated! I'm no stranger to physical media as I have a pretty extensive collection of music CD's, primarily heavy metal and punk rock, but this is my first foray into film collecting.
Prior to being furloughed due to COVID-19, I actually worked as a server at my local Alamo Drafthouse cinema, and those of you familiar with the chain are probably aware of how well that place can cultivate one's obsession with films, both obscure and popular. I got to see pretty much every movie that received theatrical releases since December 2019, as well as screenings of independent films, obscure horror flicks, and the occasional cult classics. I think my infatuation with film being fostered by my workplace and my persistent appreciation for physical media only made it natural to discover this exciting world of film collecting. I've only started collecting these for about 7 weeks now, so you can tell I have a bit of a problem with how fast I'm building this mass of movies lol
I've put some time and effort over the last month to create a wall display for all my current SteelBooks, which you can see below. Hopefully I've left ample room for that collection to grow as I continue to consume all this media at an alarmingly fast rate 😄 (the two blank spaces in my wall display are for two incoming copies of It Follows that I'm super excited for)
My primary focuses and searches as it pertains to SteelBooks are...
Independent horror
Vintage horror
Music/concerts
Professional wrestling
Thanks for the kind welcomes I received over on my "Welcome" thread! I look forward to taking part in group buys and discussing SteelBooks with all of you. And if you happen to be on Reddit or the Discord server, my username there is the same, so please don't hesitate to say "hi" if you catch me over there.
