Hi Media Psychos
I just joined the group, as I love to hear you guys rant about steelbooks. I have two collections my digital library which I purchase movies from iTunes and my Physical media Library. I only view my digital collection as I can view it everywhere, and I am very lazy to keep loading discs in my player. 😛
My physical media collection is pretty large and nearly all of my DVDs and blu rays are sealed. I love most film genres neo noir: John wick, seven, a simple plan etc, sci fi, action matrix, speed, turbo kid etc. However my TV Show library says otherwise I mainly love sci fi shows like stranger things, stargate sg1, farscape, xfiles, twin peaks etc, I love fargo, and older comedy sitcoms like married with children, the three stooges, seinfeld etc.
I just started collecting steel books, and yes most of those are also sealed too lol. I am pretty fussy collector I have my own set of rules to follow when buying:
1. It must have a minimalist design, and the films title.
2. I prefer theatrical poster art
3. I especially love when the colour scheme rolls over from the front of the steelbook to the back.
4. It must be a film I like.
I have no preference about what steelbook I buy whether it be a premium or a Zavvi, I always go by the rules above. However my zavvi Steel book collection is tiny I only have 5 titles: Baby Driver, The Terminator, Jaws, The Prestige first edition and Innerspace. I also purchased the first 6 Star Wars movies and 1917 from Australia.
My Premium collection is actually larger - kimchidvd: The Hateful Eight Lenticular, From Dusk till Dawn lenticular, Hell or High Water, The Nice Guys, Leon, Pans Labyrinth. HDZeta L.A Confidential lenticular. Mantalab Seven lenticular. Nova Media: Terminator 2 lenticular, Drive lenticular.
I also have steelarchieve’s Turbo Kid and Prisoners.
In the future depending on cover design I am looking to purchase mantalabs: Scarface (I really hope they place the image of the world is yours in the middle of the back cover), Matrix, Aliens. HDZeta: Lord of the rings.
Who knows I might open them all day 😛 besides steel books my other interest is in looney tunes I hope to take photos of my collection one day.
