Week 34! Future is prologue... or something like that! Stuff like "2001" and "Blade Runner" are played out, so I'm going with movies that apparently took place in futures that are now past. "A Clockwork Orange" (1971) - After the 1980s (Unless in this alternate timeline, a Durango 1895 looked that boss) "Mr. Nobody" (2009) - I reckon somewhere in Nemo's middle age was somewhere during or after the 2010s "War for the Planet of the Apes" (2017) - Someone did the math... It's 2023! So if you see a talking ape packing military-grade firearms, resist your instincts and run away! As for my favorite accurate prediction, as a journalist, I have to say Sidney Lumet's "Network" nailed infotainment. I'm mad as hell about it, of course, but wow! Nailed it!

Week 33! I missed last week, and an barely getting this under the wire. Sorry, it completely slipped my mind. I just got got a pair of kittens, so my downtime is down! And y'all know I loves me some long movies. Thus, I'm only showing the long movies from the top part of my cabinet. Sorry, none of my fancy sets. Too much trouble to put back up. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (2002) - 183 "Nicholas & Alexandra" - 189 "Beg" - 195 "Hey Ram" (Brilliant movie, worst DVD in my collection) - 200 "Crime and Punishment" (1970) - 220 "Christ Stopped at Eboli" - 220 "Mera Naam Joker" - 250 "Siberiade" - 275 "The Best of Youth" - 360 As for going to the bathroom and missing something important. ...I dunno, I missed most of the whale scene in "Finding Nemo" back when I was a wee lad (Pun not intended). When I go to the cinemas, I'm in it for the long haul, y'all!

They're all wood and individually released... 200 copies each? Nah, man, that's bound be well beyond my budget. To you lucky few, I say... take some great unboxing vids and photos!

Week 28 The "Best" of the Golden Raspberries! Challenge... Declined! Call me crazy, but I only collect good movies. ...Well, I think they're good. I don't even own any nominees in the categories in question. I will say that the most unfair Worst Picture winner is probably "Jack & Jill"... because absolutely awful as it was, "Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star" was way worse! Good riddance to Nick Swardson. He was also a challenge that not even Adam Sandler could handle. PS: Is it more, or are we already getting a more stable output of Worst Picture winners than we had movies made or led by women? As the kids say, "Not Great".

Week 27! Vigilantism "Baader Meinhof Complex" - Red Army Faction (Vigilante's the nicest word I'd use for them) "La Haine" - Gang Going After a Cop (I guess that's revenge, but THE SYSTEM, MAN!) "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" - Lisbeth Salander "Watchmen" - Rorschach "Prisoners" - Keller Dover Vendetta! (Speaking of vigilantes, I don't have "V for Vendetta") My "Amleth Trilogy" "The Northman" (Just got it!) - Amleth vs. Fjölnir "Hamlet" - Hamlet vs. Claudius "Haider" - Haider Meer vs. Claudius "Gangs of New York" - Amsterdam Vallon vs. Bill the Butcher "Inglourious Basterds" (Because I'm apparently obligated to mention the movie) - Shosanna Dreyfus vs. Hans Landa "True Grit" - Mattie Ross vs. Tom Chaney Of that lineup, my favorite vigilante rewatch is "Watchmen", and the revenge rewatch is "True Grit". ...Well, it looks like it's technically Amleth/Hamlet, but you know.

Week 26! Women on Film! (Must resist sonewhat misogynistic urge to sing Duran Duran!) Female Directors "The Hurt Locker" - Kathryn Bigelow "Manto" - Nandita Das "One Night in Miami" - Regina King Female Leads "Changeling" - Angelina Jolie "Christine" - Regina Hall "Gravity" - Sandra Bullock TV BONUS! "Mildred Pierce" - Kate Winslet "Watchmen" - Regina King Man-oops, I mean yeesh, I need to step up my feminist collection. Lots of great stuff out there. Cate Blanchett! Favorite thespian, obviously.

Week 25! World Cinema Library (Has a nice ring to it. Has someone else thought of it?) Flat Earth Style! I am American... Probably shouldn't have said that after "Flat Earth". Anyway, that's my starting point. 1. "Sound of Metal" (USA, ASL) 2. "Roma" (Mexico, Mexican Spanish) 3. "El Norte" (UK, Guatemalan Spanish/Quiché) 4. "Rocco and His Brothers" (Italy, Italian) 5. "Betty Blue" (France, European French) [Probably should have put that before Italy. Pretend that I came into Europe from the bottom.] 6. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (Germany, German/Portuguese/Soninke) 7. "Land of Mine" (Denmark, Danish/German) 8. "War and Peace" (Russia, Russian) 9. "Mera Naam Joker" (India, Hindi) 10. "Farewell My Concubine" (China, Mandarin) 11. "Seven Samurai" (Japan, Japanese) 12. "Mommy" (Quebec, Quebec French) Not especially geographically accurate, but it's a step up from that Flat Earth joke. I realized at the last minute that I had my new copy of "Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle" laying around the BR player. I wasn't about to get all of these movies back out! That would have been cool to show off for Japan. Soon, though!

I'm on the GB already. I was just curious about when the invoice is coming sounds like it's still up in the air. Looking forward to it, though. ...The set, not paying for it...

Oh no! It's gorgeous! Eh, I'm still satisfied with my Blufans purchase. Can't wait to see the unboxings, though!

Week 24! And the Oscar goes to... Best Picture - "Return of the King" Best International Feature - "War & Peace" Best Screenplay - "Citizen Kane" Best Actor - "There Will Be Blood" Best Actress - "Gone with the Wind" I have a challenge for next week! Double Dip! Show us at least FIVE movies that you have more than one edition of! This doesn't sound like much of a challenge for us nutty collectors, so here are some stipulations. You must not be planning to sell, gift or otherwise relinquish one of these editions. At least TWO sets should feature at least one premium. OC AND BOX SETS DO NOT COUNT! But if you have put together a sort of custom OC, feel free to display the editions therein. Just as long as they're separate products. Also feel free to show us your custom set in full. JUST MAKE SURE THAT THIS CUSTOM FEATURES REPLICA DISCS, not just the packing of one edition that contains the single disc and/or goodies from other editions. At least one set must be a format upgrade (DVD > BR / BR > 4K! VHS, HDDVD, etc. are welcome). There's no shame here. At least one set should have THE SAME DISC between two editions. They can have different art and even menu setup, but must otherwise have the same content. If your aforementioned upgraded set has the downgraded disc included... THAT DOESN'T COUNT! At least one set must have MORE THAN TWO EDITIONS! While you certainly aren't going to get bonus points for having the most editions, feel free to get creative (i.e. Listing your sets in order of how many editions you have). Other than that, all formats are welcome, as are TV shows. Needless to say, box sets and individual seasons do not count. Week 23! De best of de best movies! Actually, I can't say that I have a favorite genre. But, I guess I'll have to give it to epics for the scale of production and storytelling. They are the moviest of movies after all, and these are some of the most epic of (Hollywood) epics. "The Godfather Trilogy" as a whole "Gone with the Wind" "Saving Private Ryan" "Titanic" "The Middle Earth Saga" as a whole (The box is on the floor sideways, so that I can open the box right up to the super-heavy set)

Week 21! Photogenic Couples! "Elizabethtown" - Drew Baylor & Claire Colburn "Brokeback Mountain" - Ennis Del Mar & Jack Twist And now, Kate Winslet! "Titanic" - Rose DeWitt Bukater & Jack Dawson "Eternal Sunshine" - Clementine Kruczynski & Joel Barish "Revolutionary Road" - April and Frank Wheeler As for favorite movie couple... I'm not sure... I don't own these movies, but I'll have to go with... Jesse & Céline of the "Before Trilogy"! I've written essays on the nuance of that courtship!

D'oh! I knew it! And after I spent all that money on the Blufans set, from a scalper! Hopefully this won't be any more gorgeous, but that's seriously wishful thinking.

Week 20! DVD-for-Blu-Ray "Crime and Punishment" (1970) - The definitive adaptation, demanding a Criterion restoration! "The Flight" - My favorite Soviet film! Incredible, and gorgeous! Deserves better AV. "Hey Ram" - Awesome movie, awful DVD! Lousy AV, and it doesn't even have subtitles for the musical numbers. "Manto" (2018) - It's a new movie, and no Blu-Ray. It looks great, but how does it look better on Netflix in this day and age? "Super Deluxe" - Seriously, India needs to step up the home media game. This masterpiece deserves a premium Blu-Ray! Blu-Ray-for-Steelbook "127 Hours" - Brilliant movie, would look great as a streel. "Anthropoid" - One of the best movies of that year. It has a really sleek aesthetic, too, worthy of an elite edition. "Bad Times at the El Royale" - THE best film of that year. I don't care what everyone else says! It needs a swanky premium! "Contact" - A classic, and Warner Bros. Come on, Manta, get on that! "Jarhead" - So many gorgeous Sam Mendes steels out there. Why not for this modern military masterpiece? "Suburra" - Fabulous crime epic! It would also be a really cool steel.

Week 19! Wrapping up each decade from the '70s to the '10 1979 - "Christ Stopped at Eboli" - "Apocalypse Now" is kinda played out! 1989 - "Born on the Fourth of July" - Conveniently has retrospective packaging! 1999 - "The Insider" - I've showed off enough of my other favorite films of the that year! 2009 - "Taking Woodstock" - I'm on a role with these standard cases! 2019 - "Super Deluxe" - I liked the irony of the most recently released movie being on DVD. Come on, India, step up that distribution game! I supposed the '90s are my favorite, for the nostalgia and ambitions of the time I started collecting movies in my teens. My 20s is when I started getting serious about it.

Oh, shoot, I just got myself the German digibook edition for Christmas! Still, I'm very much looking forward to this. Awesome movie! Daniel Scheinert, doing Birmingham proud!

Week 17! Buddy Action! "1917" - Schofield & Blake" "Spartacus" - Spartacus & Antonius... plus a whole bunch of Spartacuses. ...Spartaci? "The Incredibles" - Mr. & Mrs. Incredible, and the rest "Anthropoid" - Irish Jozef Gabčík & Northern Irish Jan Kubiš "Sicario" - Graver & Gillick, but Macer appears to be doing all the work. Plenty of action movies to choose from, but if at the moment, I'm really wanting a premium of... "Everything Everywhere All at Once"!

As I learned by accident the other day, price can only be discussed in private messaging, ostensibly with a moderator. I myself just panicked and pulled the trigger of "Shawshank". Here's hoping it's not $300+... but it's just so beautiful. Get busy livin', I reckon.

Ah, but of course. Apologies, the question just popped out of my head as I was asking. It's moot anyways. The outer box of this set alone looks too good to resist.
