That's great to hear!  I been wanting a second sub but I don't have to space or budget for a second 18" rythmik

Totally get it. It isn’t the easiest thing to set up two subs but if you can get each one sounding like you want, generally you’re not too far off from having them both work together.

I imagine it’s very room dependent though so your mileage may vary. It’s possible mine would sound better with the HSu sealed up - sounds like something I should try!

Nice setup!  How's the bass? You might wanna plug the ports on the HSU.  All the info I've seen says not to mix ported and sealed subs cause they can cancel each other out.

Thanks! I have one port plugged in the HSU and it operates only from about 45 Hz and under, and I have the SVS set around 70, if memory serves. Honestly it works pretty well and I can say the “front stage” took a big step up when I added the SVS a year ago or so. I use another of the same sub in my basement gaming room (much smaller space).

I kind of lucked out that these two placements work well together. The HSU can pressurize the room while the SVS adds some needed punch to the front end. One of my favorite demo scenes is in Wall-E when all the ships topple over. The bass is very strong, very deep yet nice and clean. I also tend to use Tron: Legacy for setting things up but admittedly haven’t done that in awhile.

All that to say I think they blend well together but it did take a bit of tinkering with the phase control on each sub to get it all to lock in well.

  3. This is our great room theater.

    5.4.2 layout

Denon 4500H receiver + OSD Audio 3 ch amp for the front L/C/R which are all Wharfedale EVOs. Side surrounds are Def Tech. Ceiling mounted heights are OSD Audio Carbon/Black series 8”

    panasonic UB820 disc player

Dune 4K Real Vision for network file playback off a QNAP NAS.

front sub is an sealed SVS 12”

    rear sub is a 15” HSU VTF-15h

    TV is a Sony 77” A80J OLED.

Currently watching my HTTYD 2 4K Steelbook.

it’s been a fine setup and was fun to build into this space. I use a Cyberpower 1500W UPS for power to everything but I would like to get something behind the TV for it to plug into, for a little extra insurance.

    Thanks for looking!

PS - the youngin’s job after school is to dust :) we have 4 dogs, 2 of which are Aussies and the hair + dust can be a nightmare but so worth it ❤️

  4. So far, I’m just grabbing deals on Mercari - I don’t mind used if it’s in very good shape. I picked up Saving Private Ryan, 4K Steelbook for $20, for example.

My “grail” as it were, would be Interstellar, my favorite movie. But until I save up for one of those, I’ll keep building out my collection a bit at a time.

definitely interested in group buys, and that’s one of the main reasons I joined up. Hoping to help, that’s for sure.
