  1. Media Psychos Challenge #16: It's so hard to choose! Thanks for this great challenge, @Chief_lookout! Here are my top ten in order: 1. Gone Girl: a perfect mystery-thriller-satire package. I still watch this film religiously. 2. Tenet: to me, there's just something about watching things in reverse, and TENET is a true experience! 3. Her: pleasing aesthetic, breathtaking OST. I also like the fact that parts of the film were shot in Shanghai, China. 4. Inception: another-level mind-blowing film, a timeless classic. 5. Confessions 告白: an edgy Japanese schoolyard psychological thriller told in multiple perspectives. Shocking, powerful and cathartic to the core. 6. The Prestige: the whole film is literally an impressive magic act. 7. Hot Fuzz: a really engaging, fast-paced mystery comedy. My favourite out of the Cornetto Trilogy. 8. Everything Everywhere All at Once: This film got me laughing and crying at the same time. Literally feeling everything everywhere all at once. I would really like to see it get some Oscar wins! 9. Last Action Hero: an Arnold action comedy that is so meta I totally enjoyed. 10. Mulholland Drive: probably the most art-house choice in my top ten. A gorgeous Hollywood broken dream. I am dying for a 4K or even Blu-ray steelbook release of True Lies! (Not in my top ten, but still one of my favourites)
  2. 🎄🎅Xmas Special Challenge - "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow"❄️⛄ Thanks to @R1s1ngs0n for bringing this holly jolly challenge! 1. Snowpiercer 2. Groundhog Day 3. Love Actually 4. Fargo 5. The Revenant I'll be watching the recently released "Violent Night" this Christmas.😄
  3. CHALLENGE 14: THE ANIMALS Thanks to @coupelle for this fun idea! 1. Cat (Inside Llewyn Davis) 2. Bird (The Prestige) 3. Raccoon (Everything Everywhere All at Once) 4. Horse (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) 5. Dinosaur (Jurassic World) My favourite animal: twerking Corgi 😜
  4. Finally got around to joining Challenge 12: Directors.🙏 Thank you @bossjon for this idea! Off the top of my head, Christopher Nolan and David Fincher are easily my favourite directors. Nolan's time concepts and mind benders are so mesmerizing. Love the Dark Knight Trilogy as well, but I've got other choices for my top 3 Nolan films. Fincher's cinematography, plot twists and psychological thrills are right up my alley. I'm not a sucker for horror, so the only one Fincher film I haven't watched yet is Alien 3, which Fincher himself basically disowned by stating in an interview, "No one hated it more than me." So I guess this is fine by me.😅 As for my third favourite, I would've gone for Spike Jonze (Her, Being John Malkovich, etc.), but unfortunately, I only collected Her, so I had to dig around my collection to see whose films I can scrape together at least 3 copies for, and the answer turned out to be the prolific Steven Spielberg. Christopher Nolan: Tenet, Inception, The Prestige David Fincher: Gone Girl, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network Steven Spielberg: Schindler's List, Minority Report, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  5. Here's my entry for this awesome Challenge 10 from @extantsrevenge (From left to right) 1. Snowpiercer: axe (Might not be fully visible on the cover, so an axe scene gif is attached here.) 2. Indiana Jones: whip 3. Gone Girl: box cutter (spoiler alert!) 4. Gladiator: sword 5. Tenet: handgun Favorite weapon from a hero: Thor - Mjolnir Favorite weapon from a villain: No Country for Old Men - air-powered bolt gun
  6. Challenge 9, here we go! Thanks for this great challenge @Gentleman After going through my entire collection, I was lucky enough to scrape together 5 titles. I don't particularly collect soundtracks, but I did buy a few cds or LPs to complement some of my favourite films. 1. HER - Arcade Fire & Owen Pallett 2. GONE GIRL - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross 3. TENET - Ludwig Göransson 4. PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE - Jon Brion 5. INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS - Various Artists It was not until early 2021 that I got my first physical soundtrack, right after the original score to Her officially got released in physical form (Vinyl & Cassette) for the first time. There's one piano piece titled Photograph off the soundtrack that's so hauntingly beautiful it became enough reason for me to tickle the ivories and learn to play it years ago. I don't read music so I had to go through some piano tutorials for this piece on YouTube. In the end, my efforts paid off and I felt a genuine sense of fulfilment. This was how far I went for my favourite soundtrack. Give it a listen if you will.😜
  7. Lacking any horror film in my collection, the faint-hearted me could only sit back for challenge #7.🙈 That said, I hope everyone had a spooktacular Halloween!😈 Now here's to the literally colourful Challenge #8 from @Trianna Red - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (MLIFE) Orange - Blade Runner 2049 (FAC) Yellow - Dunkirk (UHD CLUB Wooden Box) Green - Se7en (France Limited Steelbook) Blue - TENET (HDZeta Silver Label) Purple - Her (Manta Lab OC) Pink - Frank (Plain Archive) I sort my collection mostly by size (slips, boxes, etc). Based on that, my favourites are kept where I can reach most easily. But since my previously measly collection has been gradually growing and I'm sort of running out of decent space, new additions will now just be stored where they fit among others. If necessary, I might have to rearrange some of my previous editions as well.😅
  8. 😄 Thank you @extantsrevenge for the point! Really enjoyed reading all the fun stories as well! It's hard for me not to think this gif choice is intentional, cuz... hey it's Chris Hardwick from Nerdist, my namesake apparently (🤣not that I copycatted the name since I only found out afterwards).
  9. Challenge #6 - Thanks to @InfiniteDoorsfor this worthy challenge! Speaking of the origin of my username, I've always considered myself a bit of a nerd. And one day I thought, people can be optimists, idealists, you name it, so why couldn't I be a nerdist? So here came the name quite easily... Food for thought btw: are you a lenticularist or... lentist?😂 Anyway, here's my alphabetizing effort!✍️ (Not entirely sure about the letter N cuz I don't actually have a movie that starts with it, but I might as well give it a shot since I tried with my nerdist power.) New Blood
(Dexter’s revival series, limited steelbook) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (kimchidvd lenticular steelbook) The Revenant
(Manta Lab lenticular steelbook) Drive (Manta Lab lenticular steelbook) Inception (HDZeta silver label edition) Se7en
(Manta Lab lenticular steelbook) Thor (Blufans lenticular steelbook)
  10. Challenge #5 Thanks to @Gary K for this fun challenge. It really got me going down a short but sweet memory lane. 1. Her (Kimchidvd) I purchased my very first premium edition, Her from Kimchidvd, back in 2017. This film fascinated me, so much so I really needed to get my hands on a good one! That was when I first knew premium releases were out there, apart from standard ones. What can I say? This lenticular steelbook edition is simply a sight for sore eyes😍 2. Gone Girl (Blufans) Here I am gushing about Gone Girl again.🙊 This film remains my favorite to date, and I still watch it religiously. Gone Girl Lenticular Edition from Blufans was my second premium collection, purchased in 2018. It's a shame this film merely got one premium treatment (from Blufans). I wish there could be more from other labels as well! So considering all the options I can have, only owning more than one can do it justice! Yep, this marks the first time I've gone crazy enough to collect multiple copies.😂 3. Tenet (Manta Lab) I was blown away by this Nolan film back in 2020, so when I first learned there would be a Manta premium release in 2021, I didn't think twice to join the pre-order (with the help of a private seller). And the rest was just a long yet worthwhile wait. So yeah... This was the first time I pre-ordered a premium release. 4. Her (Manta Lab) Me manifesting my love for this film again. This is my first One-Click collection, purchased in early 2022. 5. Inception (UHD Club) I came across Mediapsychos when I was doing some research online about premium releases of INCEPTION. It turned out MP was extremely helpful and informative to me, because I could refer to all those beautyshots and discussions from other psychos before deciding if I should buy one. Shortly after I joined MP in June, I ended up buying a UC non-numbered edition of Inception. So, this is the one I first bought after I joined MP.
  11. Here's my take for Challenge #4😄 Thanks for this great challenge! @raylight 1. Blade Runner 2049 (HDZETA lenticular slip) - Spinner 2. Dunkirk (UHD CLUB lenticular slip) - Fighter jet 3. Passengers (FAC lenticular magnet steelbook) - Starship Avalon 4. Léon (KIMCHIDVD full slip) - Taxi 5. Gone Girl (Digipack) - Boat Just thought to add one more for the love of TENET 😁 6. Tenet (MANTA LAB lenticular slip) - Cars (car chase scene & a crashing car in the back)
  12. Wow, there's just so much beauty to behold! 🤩 Here I am for this week's challenge.🙈 I just love the idea of turning fictitious stuff from a movie into physical spin-offs, so these would be my 3 picks for extras. Challenge #3: #1 - GONE GIRL: Amazing Amy Tattle Tale Book My Gone Girl Blufans Lenticular Edition comes with this adorable kids book, not exactly an exclusive extra (since Gone Girl's Digipack Edition includes this as well), but I just love it when I can read a legit Amazing Amy book written by Amy's parents like the people in the Gone Girl universe do. #2 - INCEPTION: Top Totem The Inception Limited Edition Metal Case is already a beautiful design by itself. The spinning top totem inside just makes it even better, not to mention there's a manual for the PASIV device.😂 #3 - ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND: Cassette (Numbering Card) & Envelope Apparently, the numbering card has adopted the cassette design from the movie, and we have a LACUNA INC. envelope (and a card sealed inside). What's not to love?🥰
  13. Just realised I mistyped Gone Girl and there's no way of editing my post again. I'm sorry, Gone Girl. It's sacrilege. 🥲
  14. Hey folks, here's my take on this fun challenge!😄 Challenge #2: #1 - Gone Girl Full Slip Steelbook (Blufans, China) Hands down my favourite film of all time! Sought after this rare full slip edition for many years, and finally owning one just took me to cloud 9!🤩 #2 - Her Lenticular Steelbook (Kimchidvd, Korea) One that's very special to me cos this one opened the door to my journey of collecting premiums! #3 - TENET Gold Label Steelbook One Click (Hdzeta, China) Don't try to understand it. Feel it.😎 Fantastic Nolan film. A must-have for me! #4 - Inside Llewyn Davis Slipbox (The Blu Collection, Korea) My non-steelbook selection for the challenge. I really dig the design and contents. The slipbox has a nice craft paper texture, and it also comes with a guitar pick! The only thing that irks me is one typo at the back tho.😵 Can you spot that? #5 - Inception Steelbook (Filmarena, Czech Republic) European release for the challenge. This Nolan film is simply awe-inspiring!🤯
