I have spent many years collecting dvd/blu rays and only recently (Nov 2019) have I discovered steelbooks. I have had to endure ridicule and shame as netflix and other streaming sites started to make my collection seemingly obsolete and so many of my friends would ask "why are you buying it when you can just stream it hahaha". But at last, I have found my tribe.
I used to love browsing the dvd section of Barnes and Noble or Hastings (US stores) and my first job was at a Hollywood Video making 5.75/hour.
My wallet is getting thinner and thinner as I browse ebay and see steelbook after steelbook that I just HAVE to have in my collection. I am close to 60 steelbooks and 250 DVD/Blu Ray's now.
Favorite steelbooks so far: Bronson and Reservoir Dogs (Mondo).
