2023 is the BIGGEST year in the history of physical media.

 

*At its peak- DVD/Blu ray sales were 16K per year.

Sales slowed when streaming was introduced.

During the pandemic it went back up to 16K

Last year it was at 22K.

The first 5 months of this year did 13K, on track for over 26K.

I think a good portion of that increase is due to the announcement that some stores would not be carrying physical media next year. I know I have spent considerably more than normal picking up some extra movies since then. Same for some others I share this addiction with. 

I do prefer to actually own the disk and will continue to buy whatever physical media I can going forward.

As for the editions themselves, what gets released is up to CE, not us. Personally I really like these. Both Gladiator and the Star Wars sets are great, and it looks like Top Gun, Avatar, etc. will be even better.  - Ken

So glad they included both versions.  The comic version has been the only one you can find since they released it almost 20 years ago.  It’s really grown on me but I can’t wait to watch the theatrical version again.  Both in 4K.

Such a great movie!  When I was much younger, they showed this at a local Theater every Friday night for over a year, similar to Rocky Horror which was every Saturday night.  People would dress up as the  Warriors characters - it was a very interesting experience.  
Anyway, congrats on the acquisition!!

Next, Predator editions #2 and #3.  They are stunning. So glad I was able to grab these when they were offered. 
 

Next, the replacement Nightmare on Elm Street one click box from Raro!  The box is terrific, and again, thanks to the MP Staff who worked with Raro to get these for us. So very glad I got in on this GB. 
Also, it really looks good with the new Gold MP card!!

Appreciate the update @deckard99  I added an Oppenheimer FS. 

Also, UHD Club #4 Forrest Gump and #8b Dunkirk. These are really incredible and I am glad I decided to buy them.

Agreed. I already had both Gladiators and the Star Wars set. I was in for both Avatars, but finally decided that if I am in for a penny , I might as well be in for a pound. I just joined all of the open CE group buys.

Mine was shipped in a cardboard box with air bladders. It arrived with no damage…

so I feel twice blessed!  
 

I personally am intrigued by this release - not for beauty points, but for the concept. Anyway, I am in for a OC. I realize I am in the minority, so let the beating commence…..
