Release Date:

September 2019

Dear collectors,

we kindly inform you that Martin Scorsese's CASINO is coming to FAC in September 2019.

More information will be released continuously.

FAc is getting arrogant with these release dates which even Marty and Doc can not confirm... when traveling back and forth from the future.... CRAZY

So FAC what are the 2020 releases? And where the hell is Shawshank?!?

At this rate John Wick 3 will be out in theaters and announced by FA before we ever see John Wick 2 finished by FA :P

You not only have a copy secured you also help a good cause (which will benefit all MP members in the future if we reach our goal 😊).

Quick Question @extantsrevenge, What is this? Is that the MP XL Slip?

Add-on

Single slips are only available for those purchasing FAC editions (to be shipped together)

Yes, that is our own MP XL Protective Slip 👌

It's the first time that I like an EverythingBlu design more than one from Filmarena.

I like the original artwork that Filmarena have gone with more ....

Would have preferred the front of the slip to have a lenticular on it, but the lenti magnet inside is really nice 👍

Glad you like the everythingblu edition still after seeing this.... Each to their own 👍

Good that we have all have choices in the premiums game now.... even of it does mean us spending more money and sometimes double dipping 😬😂

Totally agree. ;)

PS: For me issue of the Filmarena design is a question of disproportion. The title -too big- on the cover seems to be in the only gap left. But, of course, it's totally subjective, and therefore open to criticism. Always. The good news is having great options for everyone. Hope you all get a copy!

PS2: I prefer EverythingBlu option, but I won't say it's perfect. If try to dream ... for me the perfect thing would have been something blacker, less full. That would reminds me more of the night. Where the word "Casino" shines more, and the characters are just the counterpoint to the place where their lives happen. But it's only a personal idea, of course.

Who has never made a design -in their mind- of what the edition of movie they love should look like?

Hopefully Hdzeta have a good go at it too then 😂

They would put a lenti on the front and nail it for sure 👌

Casino is definitely a film I could premium double dip on....

Already own 3 different WWA steelbooks of this classic....

I need help 😂

How do you feel about the Cinemuseum Art's release to come? The Beauty Shots look really nice. I honestly haven't came to a real conclusion of which release I like more.

I would have preferred the front be a lenticular as well. It's nice that the steelbook is coming with a lenti, but I actually like the steelbook art so I don't completely feel that it's necessary for this release. I always want a special lenticular included when the steelbook art is junk 😄

Oh boy, oh boy. This is actually the first time I am considering skipping. Up to now I bought every title that I could get from Filmarena through Group Buy via André, and have the entire collection, with the exception of course of the titles he couldn't get.

But once more Filmarena is not only late to the party, but also it's rather uninspired. And why the heck would they now start adding costers? I mean how is this in any way connected to the movie? What's the benefit of this? Especially after having a relese done by EverythingBlu who put so much more effort into their release, by adding a rolled-up poster with the "San Mariono Italian Groceries" artwork, a Tangiers Show Ticket, and Bluberry Muffin Coupon, a Tangiers Poker Chip and two red translucent dices. When I was opening that up, I was excited by every item included, because these are actual Film props, and they are really fun.

With this one I have to agree as well, regarding the outer slip. On the Inside, however, I feel Filmarena has a bit more to offer, with their Lenticular magnet, their collectors foldet, etc. That's something EverythingBlu still needs to figure out, as their releases are a bit monotonous in design.

Uh... really? I am always happy when Filmarena does not do outside lenticulars because 80% of them are not really good. They did a few that I really love, but to me that makes it even worse, because I don't understand why they don't put in the quality and care for all their lenticulars. A lot of their "flip flops" don't allow to get a clear picture of any one of the motif, and a lot of their 3D lentis are unsharp, or have  alot of jumps. Until I had my first Asian edition I thought there was no other way of doing these - but compare the Lenticulars of Filmarena to BluFans, Mantalab, etc. and you'll see that there is so much more possible. So no, actually I always dread their Lenticulars and only take them if I really have to... 😅

I honestly even didn't look at them. And that's the point that lately really annoys me, and makes it no fun to collect anymore. Back in the days, each of this label would have it's titles and do them rather exclusively. Today, if there's a new 4K release somewhere, everyone does them and put's them into a fullslip, so you have 10 editions to choose from. And they all tend to look the same.

It's nice, but I prefer Everythingblu and Filmarena designs.

Visually it's beautiful, but I don't like that "comic tone" too much; it's a very entertaining film but also a drama. Obviously it's something very personal and absolutelly subjective.

I like that they have risked, that is the right way, the way to do things that differentiate you from others retailers, but in this case the comic tone does not seem appropriate, although visually it is beautiful.

I recognize that I, personally, in addition to be a beautiful edition, I greatly appreciate that it is appropriate with the film, with what the film implies at a narrative, aesthetic or at a symbolic level. And feeling that the designer has understood the dimension of the film that has had in her/his hands. That she/he has been able to perceive what fans would like to show off.

In this case I always tell the same example: the lenticular edition of "Her" by Kimchidvd. There is nothing more suitable.

Or the "The master" full slip by Plain Archive. Or the "The Prestige" lenticular by UHD Club. Or even "The Begiled" WCL Full Case.

The key is to make something beautiful and original, but very suitable.

From EverythingBlu I only have their "Casino" edition. And what I do miss, because I didn't like it, is the goodies folder, so flimsy, made of such basic materials.

If I just take that example, more work can be done on the design, but first I would improve the materials. Including any thin and fragile folder to put the goodies is not a decision consistent with the excellence you intend to offer.

It's curious that, until now,  the title has not been used more visually... And that Spot gloss would look really good. I'm absolutely agree.

In summary, and in my opinion, if you want to make a good design for a collector's edition of a movie like "Casino", you first have to take a strategic decision around three possibilities:

1) Assume that the main thing is the concept of "Casino".

2) Assume that the main thing is the characters.

3) Assume that the main thing is what is implicitly in the middle, between all of them.

And there it all begins.

In all this three cases there are many possibilities, but for me the most difficult and attractive is the third.

In the design of the cover of the Filmarena edition, due to the size of the image of the characters, they have almost no free space, and -in my opinion- in that little space they have put too many things and very piled: the title, the name of the director and the name of the actors. That title is too big for the little space they had, and it doesn't look elegant. Even on the side the title is also very big.

Subjectively, I would like to have the actors image a bit smaller, unless it doesn't go up so much, leaving more free space; removing their name ... if legally possible, and in all that free black space then he would have put the title smaller than now and in Spot gloss, with Scorsese's name on top; but using a soft, elegant tone, not strident. And on the side I would also put a smaller title, the same size as BB's "Braveheart".

On the back cover I would like to put an image of the city, that same background of city lights that is on the front cover... but without the actors. Nothing else. And if I had the freedom to choose the images, which I suppose they have not had, I would have liked to look for a actors photographs composition where they didn't look at each other or to the front. Before this, I prefer a lost look or looking out of frame.

PD: I love talking about collectors editions configurations. ;)

I’m a bit surprised by the lack of love for this release after beauty shot were released yesterday. Yes we’ve had to wait a long time for this and there’s not much new here, but I like it when retailers use the iconic images that we grew up with, but with the added premium quality touch. I think this will look really classy in hand.👌

Now that is a big decision from somebody who has been a loyal FA customer 👍

I hope you don’t regret this decision once live shots are out

Now that I agree with. Was exactly what I thought.

I hear that... I’m a FA cherry picker 🍒 I’m afraid, and more of a Hdzeta kind of guy....

Also know FA’s lenti’s can sometimes be way off the mark like “The Mule” etc....

But when they put real effort in they produce grails..... Jaws is there best DL to date in my opinion.

I’ve got a lot of love for there lenti’s on T2 3D and alien DL edition.

I agree with this totally.....

I preferred it when there was only one premium to go with... Hdzeta, Nova, Kimchi, FA, Blufans etc

I like the artwork CM have chosen for Casino, but I don’t think CM quality is up there with the big boys... maybe I’ll be proved wrong in some of their newer upcoming releases....

I will certainly be watching 😁
