Very nice and quite a bit thicker than I originally thought; at least it seems thicker than the leather editions. What is its width, I wonder?

 

The logos are somewhat largish, aren't they?

The dimension is the same as the leather case, or at least that's what I was told

It indeed is thicker, which likely means a narrower width for the content. 

I also think the logo are slightly larger to allpw for clearer engravings!

 Note that the final product will be polished and not show the wood grains.

What do y'all think of using inlays for the logos instead of engraving? I do like the engraving of course but the inlays will allow the club to keep the logos from dominating the spine.

I didn't mean for this release, I just meant as alternate art for other releases. I like Forrest Gump as is ?and would rather see all box 3 releases use the exact same layout to maintain symmetry. But perhaps for box design 4 or 20?  There is something about inlays when done well that just screams quality. Probably should have made my comment in the main UHD thread though.

Phantastic. Is the spine engraving off-center or is it just the perspective that makes it seem so? I really like the placement of Tom Hanks' name on the spine relative to the title.

The first picture does look like it is off alignment but the last two pictures seem fine! Hmmm

Hey @howarmat, 

 

UC went with the engraved version in the end. 

Engraving couldn't work on coloured version and the Chinese opted for engravings.

This is so absolutely gorgeous!

But... ya know, I almost wished they had went with just the simple non-painted wood engraving/burning as the finished copy, stained. It was so beautiful in its' simplicity ( much like 'Forest' himself).

Love what we are getting though! 🙂
